The Lord has chosen you for so many people like me, that want to create our own bundles of joys. You've giving me so much drive and confidence to do this from start to finish. I am about to choose a kit which is such a scary step to take but everything else will be smooth sailing (hopefully lol) because of you. You had the time to make the videos and you were not selfish with you knowledge. And for that I will always be grateful for you. Thank You So Much
Hi. I’ve been following your complete reborn course and wanted to thank you for sharing your knowledge step by step, it has been amazing. I can’t afford a reborn but now I am learning how to make one. Thank you very much.
I've been waiting to start reborning for years now.....Im finally in a position to start and I'm so excited! You and your Reborn with Me series has given me the confidence I needed. I can't wait to see my vinyl kit transform! Thank you so very much!!
thank you so much, i love all of your videos, they have helped me so much in my reborning!!! you are so talented, thankyou for sharing your gift with all of us watching and learning from you.
I love the way her color shows up immediately and did not think she looked "dirty" at all. She's colored and there's nothing dirty about that. The Caucasian doll seemed to be layered in paint several times before I could notice any transformation. So I'm very excited that the ethnic dolls pick up color immediately because that's what I'll be working on. As far as your steps, you put the flesh base coat on first. When would you apply the lighter tones for the palms of hands and feet? Should that not be done before the first layer of the ethnic color?
your babies are BEAUITFUL i think im start2 paint dolls i love what your doing im take this up as a hobby and you have a pleasant voice very nice videos
Hello, kindly let me know if a African America dolls complaxion is done after we have done all the steps like de Caucasian reborn babies? So, when do we start putting the flash 03?

I have watched your videos over and over and what a blessing you are to share your knowledge of the art. I recently went to your website and will be purchasing some online lessons soon I hope. Thank you for the free hair drawing lesson. I have a question I hope you can help me with or send me in the right direction. I have noticed that some biracial as well as other skin tones have this beautiful "golden glow" to them, a warm rich tone even in the fairer completions. How is this done as far as picking flesh paint colors or mixing washes? Is there a particular tutorial or lesson on your site that would cover this that you could recommend? The child's picture in this video has some of that golden glow I speak of in her highlights.
I love using a Raw Sienna wash (even with a touch of yellow) to bring out golden highlights. Here are some pictures of my Gold Wash on a Summer Rain kit: customdollbaby.com/in-progress/gold-wash-for-jase
Do you wash the kit, add primer, neutralize, then start painting, and complete with matte varnish? And when painting as biracial or aa doll as in the video, do we add as many layers as we need until we get our desired skin tone? Sorry I'm new to this.
I've been following your videos, still trying to understand the correct terms. For this video, is the first complexion the same as your base coat? I'm attempting to reborn my first doll, I want to make sure I'm doing everything right.
+mrsflew79 Great question! The base coat is separate from the complexion layers. I use whatever neutral flesh color looks most like the vinyl. Once cured, the base coat helps keep future paint layers move-able and prevents staining from your blue mottling and/or veining layers. Here's the step by step order to get you to this video. I parts 3a - 5a will get you to the complexion layers. 6b may also be helpful if you're painting a biracial or African American reborn doll. 1. How does this change if you have a biracial kit, where the vinyl is already colored? Im assuming it is much easier, would you change anything differently? Thanks!
+kimberly hutchinson Yes, I did. The veining is a little more subtle because her mommy doesn't like seeing veins, but i did the same process of base coat, mottling, veining and blue shading on this doll. All my babies get the same treatment until the complexion layers. Great question! Thanks for asking!
Hello Kim, I hope all is well. First I want to say I love your videos, they are very informative. I recently became interested in reborning and am very happy to have stumbled upon your videos. Thank you very much. I just have one question. Do you use the same colors for veining and mottling for AA babies? Our AA undertones are usually warmer and our veins usually look more greenish unless we are fair skin. Thank you in advance for your comments. 👶🏽💛
I'm a little confused ...lol ..why did you do 2 layers of 08 flesh paint before you chose this colour OR is this a different doll you are working on ....also someday I like to paint a Caucasian newborn reborn baby but I don't want the baby to be too white , I'm not picky on the colour but I just don't like skin that's ghostly white for my baby ....any ideas on a colour would be great , thanks , I love all your videos xxxxxxx

Olá Kim, gostaria de saber quando você pinta os bebês bi-raciais, você pinta os lábios com o tom de pele como nos caucasianos ou vc limpa é finalizado os lábios não final? E qual é o código para o fim dos lábios bi-raciais?
I have yet to do my first baby but I have decided that your tutorials are my favorites because you break things down into easy to understand bits. I have seen other videos out there that use air dry paints on their babies and I was wondering why you choose heat dry paints over air dry. Would you recommend air dry over heat dry for someone doing their very first baby? I'm pretty sure I will enjoy reborning, I'm just a little hesitant to invest a bunch of money into it before I know for certain, therefore that little oven may be further down the road for me.
Great question! There is a very informative discussion about Heat Set vs. Air Dry paints on my blog: customdollbaby.com/reborn-doll-artist-tips/heat-set-vs-air-dry-acrylic-paint-which-is-better-for-reborning
I just can not get the application of creasing right. Sometimes it looks to dark, or to "chalky" .. if I blend then it looks like nothings there.. help. Thanks
Hey Kim. I have noticed a lot of reborn artists have those stickers on the end of their brushes. Could you please tell me what they are lol? Thank you.
where should i go for buy same brush as you do use for paint reborn doll ? please you help me idea. i need good brush but just enough for to make reborn doll .thanks.

Thank you!!!! So how do you know where to stop the complexion? I'm not super familiar with biracial babies, so do you just look at pictures on Google? (That sounds super creepy lol) Sorry so many questions. What are the two brands you are using for blotting on and off? The two cosmetic wedge brands...
+Enchanted Creations The number of complexion layers is really up to you. Bi-Racial babies come in every color you can imagine. So you've got a lot of freedom to paint until you get a color that you like. :) I have a guide of how the premixes look after so many layers, which you may also find helpful: customdollbaby.com/reborn-doll-artist-tips/reborn-with-me-part-6-complexion-layers I have so many random brands of wedges. I just grab them wherever I see them on sale. LOL beauty360 (CVS) and up&up (Target) are good for blotting off. Whatever is the cheapest thing on the shelf tends to be good to adding paint on. Bed Bath & Beyond has a very porous brand that works well for that.
Question, do you do all the steps previously in this series before this? Is this the only flesh 03 layer or would you replace all the flesh 08's with 03?
You can mix Ultramarine Blue with the paint before you apply it or add an Ultramarine Blue wash afterward. This will, however, also make the doll darker, but it neutralizes the orange.
Hi Kim! I don't know if you still reply, but if you do, I have a question. I know it is hard to achieve an African American baby skin tone, but I use my mop brush to slide alot of the paint up the limb then take my sponge and blot it back off and it take so much color off and I'm afraid that it took all of the color off. Should I just keep doing that for a good while even though it seems like all the color has gone off? And my next question is that, when I use my mop brush to brush the paint around and along the head and then blot it off with my sponge, it seems extremely uneven. Like I see some white spots somewhere and then in other places... Like its weird. Do you have any suggestions for my problems? Or anyone else?
+silent reborns Thanks for your questions! I use Kate Charles' tutorial for ethnic kits. She's got step-by-step instructions from the washing to the neutralizing to the painting. hello! i am going to paint the realborn lavender awake kit. what paint color and how many layers should i add? thank you so much!
Question, do you do all the steps previously in this series before this? Is this the only flesh 03 layer or would you replace all the flesh 08's with 03?
What do you do if your flesh 03 has an orange tint to it? After about 3 applications it seems to have an orange look to me.
You can mix Ultramarine Blue with the paint before you apply it or add an Ultramarine Blue wash afterward. This will, however, also make the doll darker, but it neutralizes the orange.

question do you still do a base coat with the flesh 03 all over before this step?

You can mix Ultramarine Blue with the paint before you apply it or add an Ultramarine Blue wash afterward. This will, however, also make the doll darker, but it neutralizes the orange.
what do you use on the sole of the foot for biracial complexion ? or it it not necessary?
I like to use a Caucasian complexion color: Flesh 08, Baby Skin or Peachy Keen. If you already did a base coat, you might be all set. :)
Thank you l did use flesh 08 but yours looks better xx
Aaw. Maybe add a gold wash? customdollbaby.com/in-progress/alainas-palms-and-soles
do this part comes after the mottling layer or does it replace the flesh 08 layers?
I typically do a Flesh 08 base coat, then all my mottling layers, then this step with my African American complexion colors.
