Love your tutorials., Annette. I kept looking at this kit you're working on, thinking it was so pretty, and kind of familiar. Then when you said it was Sarah..I had to laugh, because she is a dream baby of mine, and the first of 4 kits I purchased to start reborning. No wonder I liked her face on your work table! Makes it more exciting to follow along because I have her! I really like the paint done on the video about her on MacPherson's website. Such a beautiful baby.
I got a Seconds kit from Bountiful Baby, Laila Asleep. Of course you never know what's wrong with the kit until you get it. I was kind of shocked a couple days ago when I unpacked the kit and saw black ink-like streaks and stains on both arms and a leg. I've heard of people using acne cream...but I don't have any. I tried just soap and water, but that did nothing. Then I decided to try "Spray N Wash" spray stain remover/lifter for clothes...why not? It worked so fast, with just a little rubbing with a sponge to make sure all areas were covered well. I let it sit just a minute or so, and wow...could hardly believe all the streaks and marks were gone! I then rewashed with just mild soap and warm water, patted dry and let dry completely. 12 hours later I checked to see if it had damaged the vinyl, but it was like a brand new perfect kit. I don't know if fabric stain remover will work on all stains or marks on vinyl, but it's going to be my first go-to option for any future issues. Just thought I'd pass that along in case others hadn't tried it or heard of it.

Hi there my kit is like the colour grey and only soft when heated. I have two questions for you how can I get the kit to look like a normal colour. And secondly do you know how I can soften this kit. I really love your tutorials you explain really good 👍 Thank You LOL BIG HUGS YVONNE UK SCOTLAND
What do you do if you don't have yellow to use in this second step. I dought a starter kit but it has not yellow in it so I'm kinda lost. I will order some but will take about a week to get in. is that to long for it to set in between steps. You are so good at explaining how to do this Thank you so much.
Either skip the step and add it later or skip it and see if you can do without it

Q- how do you put Matt varnish onto a Air Dry Reborn doll because I put the paint on and then I paint on Matt varnish I find if I go inside the dolls head, and push the head through so I can put a magnet inside, I find the paint on the face comes off the face, what am I doing wrong?

To paint a reborn kit, can you use acrylic paints just from any craft store? Or are those not good to paint with?

MiracleBabiesNursery yeah. It's just very hard to do that when you have a disability and live with that family 24/7. If I was able to live by myself and was able to afford one I would totally do it. I've even dreamed of having a Twin B boy named Eli James.

Using air dry paints i am assuming you wait for them dry between layers, any idea about how long

I'm wanting to create a zombie / monster inspired baby. My kit has a similar coloring to yours. For the coloring, would it be wise to cover it with a light grey wash to get an ashy tone, or would something else work better? I'm quite new to this craft. Thank you very much!
I would say yes, a grey wash may bring it to more of the colour you want.

If you’ve gotten a finished baby that is too pink/red in skin tone, can you then add color washes to tone it down/neutralize the color a bit??? (And heat set it) I appreciate your help. I’ve watched this whole series you’ve done & it’s excellent! Hugs, Summer xo
Thanks for your comment Summer, yes you certainly can do that, just make sure the kit is clean from dust and dirt and everything should work out fine :)

You can do either way. Sometimes I do each layer but if I am layering colours every 2 to 3
If using air dry paint can you just substitute water for the solvent? In the same amounts and everything
solvent is for heat set paints only

I find using flesh tone sometimes wants to go chalky when applying . Do I need to use less flesh keep that from happening?
Yes either use less flesh or use more solvent to thin it out some more

As long as the paint is sealed properly than its fine.

hi i am so sorry to bug you again with this question i just couldn't find my comment to see if you answered and i can't look through my notifications cause it has a lot stuff in it and is hard to look through, so my question is, do you have any tips on how to match a baby with a reborn doll kit like find a reborn doll kit that looks as close to the baby as possible do you have any tips on how to match them up? ty
Best thing is to get your photo of the baby and literally go thru the Reborn Kit Sellers babies and just try to find a kit with great matches, nose, eye shape ect

Does the doll need to bake in the oven or can the paint just dry naturally in fresh air? Really don't want to put doll part's in the oven if I don't need to... 🤷♀️
Sunny10 Genesis Heat Set paints have to be baked in an oven. If you don’t want to use your own personal cook stove. You can get a small halogen oven for around $50. But, there are air dry paints made specifically for Reborns. Just go online and search around for the types of paints that will suit your preference best. Good luck.

I know it’s not recommended to use a conventional oven. But I’m waiting on my convection oven. What do you place doll on to bake in color?
