    It's always nice to get a warm spell to catch up and re set from the snow. You are keeping up very well with it! I really like the board and batten style of your house, rustic but neat. That fish recipe is an easy pleaser for sure. I based it on a recipe from the TV show Michigan Outdoors on PBS where they included a recipe on every show. For years I have had friends from WV come up for several days salmon fishing in the fall and I am the fish cook. One year I forgot to bring my deep fryer and was given a hard time about it. My one buddy scolded me and said he don't care if I ever bring a fishing rod again just remember the dang deep fryer😅 Have a great week, thanks for sharing!

      That deep fryer story is hilarious but I understand, plus I feel like food tastes way better when its been caught fresh and cooked outside! salmon fishing sounds fun!! the fish recipe is so good, someone else commented that they were going to make fish tacos too because the recipe you shared sounded good to them too! the warm spell was so nice!

    I lived in Wakefield Michigan in the Western end of UP near Lake Superior, we would get 300 inches of snow and shovel snow it seemed every day! You would shovel your roof off for two days and not need a latter to get off the roof, the temperature would be below zero for the entire month! What a place to live!

    Hi Marie! I like your two cats. I have one here with me too. He always has to be with me and wonders where I'm at. He does the same thing when doing the bedding. My last cat did the same. I sure miss her. Been gone 6 years now. I have always had cats since being in my teens. A long time ago. You are doing a nice job removing the snow around there. Be easier on you when you get the roof work done. Don't have much snow on the ground here at the moment in northern delta. Only in the teens for a temperature though. Looks like more heading your way. Have you ever been to presque isle in marquette. That's a real nice place. Happy New Year!

      @@marieintheUP Keep wanting to ask how do you like that e go blower? That electric snow shovel helps a lot too. Just ordered a sno joe electric shovel for here. Already have a toro electric shovel. I do the driveway with an 18 HP Yardman garden tractor with a 45" blower on the front. Always works real good for years. I imagine you will get a rider eventually. Make it easier on you also.

    • @marieintheUP
      @marieintheUP  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @ I like the ego, I find I use my electric shovel more because it’s more portable and I can take it all over the yard easily but I like the ego. It works well. I have a neighbor who will snow plow for me but we are waiting until the ground freezes because we tore up the yard in November with the snow plow. I may get something bigger but I’m not sure. I want to see how things go this winter before I make a decision
      It sounds like you have a great snow clearing setup at your place!!

  • @jonhansen4745
    @jonhansen4745 44 นาทีที่ผ่านมา

    I didn't read through any of the comments to see if anyone else mentioned it, but it may be wise to ask your neighbor with the tractor mounted snowblower to come in & blow away the snow that has come off your roofs. As much snow potential as you have it would be nice to stay ahead it to make room for more... Stay blessed!

    One of my families comfort food recipes from our grandmother was and is very simple to make.
    Homemade fried rice
    1 cup of white rice
    2 cans of chicken and rice soup
    1 small can of diced carrots.
    3/4 stick butter
    You will need a covered casserole dish for the oven.
    Pan brown your rice in 3/4 stick of butter.(do not boil it)
    Stir the rice constantly until browned.
    In the casserole dish add the 2 cans of soup.( do not add water )
    Add your browned rice and melted butter to the casserole and then add the drained can of carrots.
    Cover and bake at,350° oven for 1 hour stir it half way thru. Scrape the edges of the casserole dish to loosen the rice that sticks to the edges.
    No need to season with anything cause the soup has plenty of seasoning. We all make it still today.
    Good update thanks for posting👋❄

It's no wonder you sought ought the beauty and the solitude of the U.P. and the Yoopers! I picked Delta County as my next home as it receives the least amount of snowfall (avg. 52 in annually) and has the longest growing season. I'm glad you mentioned fish tacos, that's what I will have for dinner. Thank your for your time and effort in sharing your adventures with us. As always, please take the very best of care. I think you are going to love living in Delta County, you will be so close to so many things in the UP and it is beautiful on Lake Michigan, the shoreline there is breathtaking! and having less snow to deal with is a win win! propane is expensive, I have found ways to use less but each time I have to have the 500 gallon tank filled, its a little painful to pay that bill. Also St. Francis Hosp. I wish to explore ALL of the U.P. I will have propane, but just for cooking. For heating the house, I'm going to use an indoor wood boiler (radiant floor heat and hot water). Also, entertaining the idea of solar/wind w/battery bank. In case of outages, or no sun or wind, I already have a portable whole house generator rated at 17,500 watts continuous. Glad to hear the heat pump is helping you conserve some propane. Bye! As always, please take the very best of care.

Do you have enough timber on your property to harvest your own wood? Metal roofs are great. I have 30 year old metal roof and love it. Had same problem with snow sliding. I installed just one row of snow brakes at the bottom of the roof. In my opinion if you install snow brakes you wouldn't need a tractor with a bucket for your property. ATV with a plow would be enough and you could use ATV in off season to ride trails and make great vlogs. CFMoto 600 2up highly recommend. It would be small enough to fit inside the garage between your cars and the garage door, backed in ready to go.

    With all the snow piling up, you almost have to have some sort of tractor like a Bobcat (or know somebody with one) to move the big piles of snow that accumulate next to the house from your roof. If I move to the U.P. or some other heavy snowbelt area, I'm considering a Bobcat loader. They really move snow! Along with the 10 hp Toro snowblower I have now, I should be good.

      hi! it is a heat pump, it is new and its amazing, also this heat pumps is an ac, it sucks the hot air out of the house in the summer and pulls the hot air in, in the winter, I also have a propane furnace, because a heat pump can't work on it own once the temp drops to 40 degrees or lower. Both my propane bill and my electric bill have seen great results from having the heat pump and I am so happy I have one! have you had issues with a heat pump before? its. -1 here too! cheers in MN!

      @marieintheUP ok dancing. The way you were twirling that shovel, it thought maybe you were fighting. Yes, more dancing to the snow gods! The scoop from Menards is black, with a metal edge, if that helps. I have a CFMoto Overland 1000. It's BIG. But I wanted enough power to push snow. Looking back, I would have gone with the 800. You can get a smaller plow for a 600. It will handle up to 4 or 5 inches. CFMoto typically comes standard with a winch for lifting/lowering plow. Other ATV manufacturers charge extra to install a winch. There are lots of TH-cams on the topic.
