This video was a perfect metaphor for life. It has measured amounts of dreams, determination, hard work, tragedy, perseverance, and community to move in the direction of your desired goals. What a beautiful life you and your family have. Thank you for sharing.
This is so fun to watch. Its also lovely to see that farming and homesteading is the same all over the world, with lots of hardwork and reward. Homesteading is a constant work in progress
not sure if you want to hear this .. but i learned from an old farmer in Queensland Australia to gather up what we call "chook poop' and to put it in a 44 gallon drum with water and let it 'steep' for about three months (it is high in nitrogen). The other tip was to get all your fish bits (guts and so forth) prawn heads, and you put it in water and let that stew as well. need to have a lid on it because it stinks but the gardens and vege patches do love it. in fact over here they have created a product called 'seasol 'which is basiclly just the seacreature broth. probably has oyster shells in it as well (ground down). I haven't checked.
If you never make any money on all your TH-cam work, you and you family will always have such a wonderful video record of your days starting out life in the country and making the very best efforts to be good parents. Perhaps a more valuable possession than the money.
Whewww, that was a lot of hard work. Looks like you’re a farmer. I helped my father farm. That must have been a real windy and wet storm! Sorry about the damage around your place. You have some serious drainage to dig and water diverting walls to build. It’s good that you’re a hard worker. Looks like everything you do is good work, WELL DONE, YOU. Farm work is almost never done. Good luck rebuilding your place. I have confidence in you…from an old veteran, retired in the US, foothills of the Smoky Mountains.
Messaging from USA ,Beaver Dam ,Wisconsin Awesome project ! Love the channel !!!!❤❤❤ Can't wait for more ! I hope really soon . Love that your saving that old barn ! All old things should be saved and Restored in my humble opinion 😊😊
You've made good progress for the time you have around working, and not having enough of the right tools and equipment. You need a truck, pray least a small trailer to pull behind you car. Good luck moving forward 😊
From the US. Your accomplishments are incredible. The barn foundation work looks so exact, and look forward to when you start the framing. Keep up the good work.
This is the first time I have watched your video. Very interesting! I am sure I will continue to enjoy your future videos! Impressed by your hard work and tenacity!
Greetings from Germany. Brilliant video. I enjoyed watching and was impressed with your focus and motivation. Might I offer a wee suggestion? Your hay cutting. Build some field drying racks. As the hay is cut, place it on the racks to speed the drying. Even if it rains, they hay is not left on the ground to rot. I will continue to watch and well done on the barn approval!
Where is the half ton truck? Where i come from farmers have a half ton truck and judging by what i see you hauling you need one. Also a shed about 3 to 5 times the size of what you currently have. Storage for all the implements and as a work shop. Oops i wrote the above part before i came across the part about remaking the old barn. Wow i loved this video. The fact you did all this while holding down a job. Amazing work ethic.
Even though I've already been watching how much you've done, it's really hard to believe what you have achieved working on your own most of the time. The concrete for the barn was epic, what an achievement, you are going to one day look back and be amazed at what you actually did. Seeing it all in one video also shows just how much the place changed, the pasture is a great example. 👍
Just discovered your channel today. Loved the overview of the year and utmost respect for you to do all this next to your day-job and a family with small kids. Will definitely follow you for the upcoming year! All the best and greetings from The Netherlands!
Hello Eric, it was so nice watching the year's progress again and I think that I might have to look back and watch some of the first videos again because I might have missed some footage. I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas with your family and I wish you a Very Happy New Year. I love watching your content, and I love listening to your narration, looking forward to seeing your barn going to the next stage. Take care and enjoy your holidays.❤️
You are doing a great job! I am just putting up a homestead in Patagonian Chile and I found your video really motivating! Thx a lot and keep up your dreams and great work! Saludos desde el sur de Chile! Michael
Dere har fått gjort utrolig mye dette året, til tross for tidvis motgang går det fremover. Gleder meg til å følge dere videre, og spesielt moro blir det å se låven komme på plass. Godt nytt år til dere alle fra Sørlandet.
Hi and thanks for your video. It looks like you have a big job on your hands but Im sure you can make it work. Good luck and I am looking forward to your next installment:. From a Welsh off gridder living in rural Normandy.
I very much enjoyed your video. What a beautiful place you live in even if it is rather soggy , the barn is looking spectacular even at this stage ,and I look forward to seeing the finished building. You are such a hard worker and fully deserve success in your endeavours❤
HI BUDDY, I HOPE YOU HAD A FANTASTIC CHRISTMAS, THANKS FOR THE VIDS I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING HOW THE UPER PART OF THE BUILDING IS FINISHED, AND WHO DOESN'T LOVE A GOOD FRENCH DRAIN :-), I WISH YOU AND YOU FAMILY ALL THE BEST FOR THIS NEW YEAR :-) MANUGG..
My family came to the US from the Østerud farm in Akershus. My dream would be to buy that land back and rebuild it. Still looks mostly undeveloped from what I’ve seen from google maps.
bless your heart, bless your soul and bless your family. i am not the person to put myself what you have in this past year !!! may god bless you and may you be able to afford a much better and bigger stronger tractor !!!
Dette var den første videoen din jeg så. Inspirerende! Selv kjøpte jeg en 1300 kvm herregård i 2023. Der må man også være altmuligmann for å få alt gjort. Kanskje jeg lager noen videoer om det.
Very interesting video. Well done. May 2025 bear much 'fruit.' As a young man I remember starting a job at a luxury-ish car dealership. The 'glamor' turned to fixing the tool to fix the tool to do the job--daily.
I enjoyed watching your work on your beautiful property. Happy New Year and I will be waiting for the barn build. I think its going to be fantastic. A big Hello from Oklahoma, USA.
I think it's time for you to buy a pickup truck. I don't know the market is for those in Norway but I hope they're affordable. You just need something simple with 4wd with a big bed. No more multiple trips with a long bed.
It was a wonderful little clip at around 27:00 of you assisting your daughter up the steps...just what Dads do! I served in the U.S. Navy, and my best friend's grandparents came from Haramsoya island. Is that anywhere near you?

I'm from South Africa. Normally watching American homesteading videos. So refreshing! Thank you
Congratulations on getting the building permit! That was a quick planning process. Must mean your community sees the value in restoring an old farm 💕
