Amazing.. From a time when machines had character, I'm sure many an engineer feel in love with that over the years, listening for the slightest change to know when there was a problem. Thanks Ian
Definitely, the one at the far end of the boiler house had a “tick, tick, tick, clunk” which unfortunately couldn’t really be heard over the coal feeders. Yes, those hit and miss always amaze me. Cheers
Fantastic! If only the world was still steam powered. I am sure that Royal Enfield would do very well. That road roller was quite an achievement Ian! What a piece! I know someone who used to own a bottle green Berkeley three wheeler.
I had a chat with the other Ian Hughes, he is very clever, I wish I could do things like that. The Berkeley here, has electric start. I believe that early ones had a kick start, whereby one would have to get into the engine bay to kick start it. Lovely little 3 wheeler. Cheers
Great watch Ian static engines aren´t really my thang but that was interesting and I totally agree ya could just dose off in that engine shed . They really look so clean and smooth running just as cool as ya like .I like the old Riley and wolseley´s 👍👍
Excellent reportage de ces magnifiques machines Colis cet endroit c'est le paradis de la mécanique ! On ne voit pas cela en France malheureusement. Un peu dommage que vous ne puissiez montrer les chaudières au charbon. Bonjours de France
Very interesting, sounds and smells from a bygone era, gone for ever. We are lucky enough to have exhibited one of our classic bikes at our local pumping stations. One about 10mls away the other about 25. And as you say, so mesmerising;,a fantastic day out; thanx for sharing Ian. Ride safe my friend. Neil PS. Had the loan of a Classic 350 for the day whilst the Himmy was getting new head bearings and a brake callipers recall done. What an awesome bike. Did 72 miles; rode to Mannor Farm cafe at Bellerby near Leyburn. Motor is so smooth, nice box too. Luv the feet slightly forward position and chunky rear brake pedal. Can defo see me owning one of these in the future at some point.
Sorry Neil, only just seen the “PS”. Sounds like you had an enjoyable run on the Classic 350, you certainly had a good test ride 😂. I found myself being quite surprised just how good they are to ride. Keep me posted, the trouble is, which bike would you trade in………😳😁
@@ianhughesroyalenfield That’s the rub, I can’t bare to part with any of my bikes. I only let the Classic run to 60mph the once ; in deference to it’s just under 300mls on the clock. Mind it was really happy at 50 and wanted to go faster. Certainly smoother than the Himmy, an incredible bike.
@@mrgrizzlyrides prior to fitting the decat pipe, Clementine’s sweet spot was 50-55, now happiest at 60 ! It’s a bugger when you really like the bikes you have, but fancy another. I would never have sold Honour to buy Clementine, so dug into savings (reluctantly), but not regretted it since. It was Ann (wife), who said I should get a Classic 350. How could I refuse 😂
Agreed. My usual content involves riding motorcycles, from a rider’s perspective, I just did this as a bit of extra interest. Hopefully you enjoyed it for what it was 🤞
Great views of the working's at Mill Meece Ian, loved it. I have a recreational YT channel and some drone footage that I'd love to add some live working clips of Mill Meece pumps; is there any chance I can use a couple clips from this video. I would of course credit you in the description. No prob's if you prefer me not too though👍

Definitely, a time before a plug in diagnostic was required to tell them what the problem was 😂
the sounds in the boiler house ..very interesting and who doesn't love the hit and miss engines?

Just incredible isn’t it, such machinery created by good old fashioned engineers. Splendiferous 😊
We could do with a few of them now 🙄. Cheers
Hi Ian yes great video it’s amazing how them engines are still working perfectly 👍👍🙏🙏🙏
All down to the commitment of the volunteers.
Nice one Ian, fabulous pieces of engineering...
Indeed.
Good video, can’t beat a day out like that.
Cheers, it was a grand day..
Really enjoyed the video Ian. Was very surprised there was no Enfield motorbikes there. Ian you should more videos like that.
Thanks. Will have to see what next year brings.

Cracking video !.
Thank you.
Plenty of videos showing the function and working on steam engines, also full history of development.

hey the guy that built the models has the same name as you!
I wish we had the same cleverness too 😂 I had a chat with him, nice chap.
