I suspect by 1.0 all of that will change and the landing zones of Stanton will have basically every armor. Maybe some minor variation like "Arctic" only in New Babbage, high end tourism in Crusader, Industrial in Lorville, etc.
I hope there will be an armor catalog that you can 'buy online' and armor stocked nearby would be delivered sooner or if there is a local store basically instantaneously. I mean I am not expecting a physicalised ship to transport it or anything, but it is annoying to spend potentially hours to get the sets I want. Besides, why isn't there a space amazon. Edit: I do want to also consider for gameplay reasons that some products you do need to go in person, like really specialised stuff, such as maybe a special material like gold armor or something, or maybe illicit goods that aren't exactly legal. but I think for the base level gear, we should be able to amazon order those stuff.
Until SC has an actual economy, even doing the idea you described would still depend on preset values for everything -- much like now. I can go into any armor shop and purchase a full set of all three classes. It may not be the "rare" one I want, but it will be basic for its weight class. You can buy all but the rarest somewhere, but the more desirable, the fewer places. With everyone able to make multiple millions every hour, just making things expensive enough to be a challenging goal would be a punishing grind for millions of aUEC for a set of legs. What we have is good for now. And Hero level armor should never be cheap, nor easy.
As a player who's favorite armor set is the Hurston Elite Artimex, i don't mind the difficulty of getting it, even back when you had to go into a friendly bunker and get it the hard way. The barrier of knowledge and effort required made it a fairly rare sight and i would sometimes draw attention and comments from other players. I also used to do the 890 boarding action missions to get loads of sets of the Stitcher set, which was my day to day that i had no problem with losing. With local inventories being gone, the difficulty of getting large amounts of armor has definitely increased a little. Moving items around shops definitely hurts orgs trying to make uniforms that dont require you to hit multiple stores though😂. I dont mind scarcity in space stations where resources are limited but i feel like the time required to land at a planet and ride the tram, then go find the armor store should give the player a lot more options
I think they just arent dealing with it right now. They want enough there to ensure there's something for people to do but it's probably another "thing they'll deal with once major systems are done" 🤷♂️
well, seeing as I am principally a cargo trader. I like the idea of items being made in factories, and distributed by people like me. yes, remote systems may have to pay a F..k-ton for items that are dirt-cheap elsewhere to make it worth my while to haul it to the ass-end of the universe. but THAT is economics. The denizens of Pyro, normally being criminal gangs, will likely have to have some legitimate operators within their orgs who can trade in civilized society and bring stuff to them in Pyro. OR perhaps there will be an org or syndicate of traders who are "off limits" for harassment in Pyro (by common accord) due to the criminal orgs realizing that the flow of certain items is more valuable than Pirating everything.
Eventually you'll be able to have stuff delivered to your Hangar/Hab if you want. Just like now, there are plenty of misc stuff to find and things to discover and now you can either pay to have your freight loaded or load it yourself.
Thing that Irks me with armor is colors. Makes no sense to not have a full set of matching armor at each location. Sure put different armor at different locations, but the color thing doesn't make any sense, its just forced time sinks. Usually leads to people just buying a mismatch of armor, and using the first thing they can kill.
I rarely buy armor. This patch, it seems to be cheaper and easier to just farm Artimex lodestone and executive armor from the distribution center missions on Hurston. Once the devs get the economy straightened out, things should get better.
@@asiftalpur3758 How do I farm the Artimex? Simple. Take the 16k mission to repel outlaw incursion, go to the distribution center, and loot the dead Hurston guards. The bad guys are usually kind enough to take them down so you don't have to. =P

Honestly why I haven't bothered to boot up SC regularly in over a year - it's become a 'suit up and prepare' simulator, with prep for getting a basic mission done (such as the ones to secure the F7A skin) taking multiple hours, only to have the mission bug out and turn into a wipe. The devs don't respect my time as a player, so I opt to spend it elsewhere.
It's not a matter of respect. Persistence will eventually allow folks to minimize prep time when dolks can ACTUALLY just logout in their ships anywhere. It's a tech maturity issue.
@@LucidStrike If they respected our time we wouldn't have to walk to a physical shop that only carried a very limited selection of the items in the game - we'd just select the stuff we needed from a screen and have it delivered to our inventory. Star Citizen is and never was intended to be quick jump-in action like COD in space. That’s what Arena Commander is for. The majority of the complaints are from people who never really understood the vision of the game, and then claim devs are “disrespecting” their time. It’s not about respect, it’s creating a game with stakes like a survival game/simulator/MMO hybrid that SHOULD be challenging. The fact that people fear death because of the pain in the ass of suiting up, is the game operating as intended. The bugs are an issue for sure, but in an Alpha, feature development takes precedence to debugging. It WILL get better. Many players don’t have the patience to wait till then and that’s totally fine, in a decade when we have our debugged full release game we can all come back and reminisce about the buggy difficult days lol.
I thought spreading out items was an attempt at "content" making you see more of the verse to get them. No one ever figures out that grind doesn't equal content. Reputation lock would be nice, if I had enough Crusader Security, I could just buy Crusader Morozov. I mean, players with rep would turn around and sell it for a profilt, but I could also choose to grind and get it without them.
There is! It’s called VoyagerDirect, it’s in-lore and even shows up in SQ42’s trailer. But until they have NPCs to do deliveries and meshed servers able to handle the NPCs, they are putting it on the back burner for now. But it’s definitely been concepted.
Time to get ready and actually play is far too long in SC.
