10,000 SUBSCRIBER SPECIAL - CITY OF LONDON

To celebrate 10,000 subscribers - a frankly mental feat if you ask me - in this hour long special, we’ll be taking a walk around the City of London. When I say the City, I mean the City. I don’t mean Greater London.
Don’t expect to see landmarks like Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge, the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, 10 Downing Street, the O2 or Wembley Stadium here. They and countless other major London attractions are not within the boundaries of The City of London - the ceremonial county right in the heart of the sprawling urban metropolis we call our capital.
Instead, this will focus on the likes of St Paul’s Cathedral, the Monument to the Great Fire of London, the various glass fronted skyscrapers like the Gherkin and the Walkie Talkie, the Bank of England and the Old Bailey.
We’ll be seeing countless churches - a lot which were designed by England’s most celebrated architect Sir Christopher Wren.
We’ll be touching quite a few pubs too - many of which are owned and run by Nicholson’s.
There’ll be public transport facilities including the London Underground and the mainline National Rail Stations like Fenchurch, Moorgate and Liverpool Street.
We’ll be discussing the history of London’s press on Fleet Street, exploring a couple of its markets like Leadenhall and Smithfield, and taking in memorial after statue after commemorative plaque, built for, commemorating or marking the spot of this, that and other.
In between it all we’ll be covering some of London’s hidden gems, secrets which the average tourist simply wouldn’t know about. And even then we won’t be able to cover it all. It promised to be a mammoth task, even though the City is the smallest of the 33 districts in the Great London area.
Its an unparished area, so there will never be any regular episodes here, but in every possible way shape and form, this one was planned and produced using exactly the same format.
In the run up to this, Nicky kept calling London our “original village”. Whilst not strictly true from a historical standpoint, the boundaries of the City of London will always be the City.
Let’s have a look at it.

This is great! I love London, I actually have a project of my own to visit and photograph every church in the UK and Northern Ireland... I know it's never likely but one can aim. I have been inspired by your efforts to get back into it again, as I had let become a little lax. I love when you visit churches in your videos.
