Somehow we paused the time in the Enigma Protocol and had 6:30 left while fighting the boss. Got the triumph for a fast clear aswell. No clue how to replicate this…
During the Enigma Protocol activity, the power level of the enemies for me was 2020 (I am around 1950s) and they were WRECKING everyone who tried to match in. Minotaurs were taking like 4 rockets, or seemingly a dozen crit hits to die, and could one-hit you. I wonder if we'll get some kind of splicer perk eventually that makes doing that activity easier, like we did when in that wayback season.. It's also worth noting that if you wipe, you have to restart all the way from the beginning again, and it's not clear to me what constitutes a wipe event. The timer is not always visible.
I feel like my only real complaint about the episode so far is that I was hoping this would be a transition to more content in larger drops as opposed to small bursts every week. I've never really liked having to come back every week to see what's going on and play a tiny bit of content before being done for the week (mainly because some weeks would just be "hey nothing is actually happening in the story come back next week") and would rather have a few hours of new stuff to blow through every month or so instead.
No one is stopping you from doing exactly just that. Wait for a few weeks and cone back for a chunk of it instead of waiting every week. The episode isn't going anywhere.
Switching to Episodes has truly allowed Bungie to move past the limitations of Seasons and bring us a deep level of content the likes of which have never been seen.
Piston has always spawned after the first encounters for me, but it can also spawn after the second, meaning there’s a chance you can drop 2 charges in a run. The standard resource nodes seem to always spawn after completing an encounter, usually in groups of 4. Banking data also gives Failsafe reputation
The funny part is bungie saying how they heard feedback of how the seasonal model felt samey and too predictable, and said that big changes would be coming to it... just for it to end up being literally the same thing but now called episodes. Idk how anyone could be confused on how this works, it's the same seasonal model as the past... 3-4? years.
@@Westbrook__ You're describing the whole Destiny game in your reply. 😅That said, episodes have one huge difference from seasons, imo - There's no grid to fulfill to get buffs and perks.
I was under the impression the timegates would only be for act 1,2,3 that we could play all of the act 1 content when act 1 dropped, instead of the weekly timegated story stuff we always got going off the high from TFS, back to the weekly seasonal slop really took the wind out of my sails
I like how fast the activity is but it’s so boring honestly and I’ve only done the other activity one time but I can’t get progress towards my powerful engrams by completing it on harder difficulty
So i very much have a bad feeling about episodes because why is it that after the amazingness that was final shape we get basically the seasonal model? Wasn’t this supposed to be different? It just feels like weird extra time gated seasons
Besides the extra cutscene with saint and Osiris wanting to travel this seemed almost if not the same as a week 1 season launch which these episodes were said to be different did they mean different all together or it’s different late into the episode. Hopefully week 2 and onward are different from a season model cause in the showcase they made it look like these will be a drastic change to how the content works but in execution this is a bad first impression
Yeah...still not seeing enough of a shift away from seasons to secure my purchase. I'll keep an eye out for a breakdown of episode 2 and see if things have improved.
The first time I did Enigma Protocol the time was just at 1 minute the entire time. We made it to the room that had a rally banner but then we all hit the reset button not knowing what it did. When we restarted the timer was working correctly.
What does it do exactly? Do we press it just for a wipe, or is it like a forever grind loop every time? We also have the option to continue with the mission do I dont know what is the right thing to do.
@@accountkim6686 it killed all 3 of us and restarted from the beginning. Really don't know what the point is, maybe to get more of the time extensions?
I think it is better to have re-used them, because TFS "re-uses" tons of other familiar bits like the Tower. Re-using them is therefore both consistent, and helps us recognize areas to go because we're already familiar with them since we're on a timer situation =)
@ablestmage the Pale Heart was meant to be a place made of memories, so reusing destinations was expected there. This is the Vex network, which should be different from the last visit, because why would the Vex simulate a situation again in which they already lost?
Meteroric does not show up for my second + third characters as Mission, or anything. All went well starting everything and running a few laps on Warlock, but Titan and Hunter can only deposit Extracted samples the Warlock collects. The new Lab section remains walled-off, but one is within reach to deposiit Bio-thing, Failsafe never shows up in Helm. Only the Warlock sees Failsafe to advance ranks. All characters show ‘Ownership” of Echoes I, but no access seen in Map, except Enigma Protocol - which is blocked as both need to complete Mission:Meteoric. I’m writing this out to describe ‘symptoms’ for anyone else stymied, then sending to Bungie.
Have you completed the Final Shape campaign with the other characters? That is the very first step of the episode's quest. You won't get any seasonal stuff until then.
I’ve seen double pistons. After the first you can get it and before boss room you can get it. It I think you need the first for the second to spawn. Luckily I was with a team that was hunting for them
I would be so down if they added more long term content like imagine we got 2 30th anniversary’s every year instead of seasons but that probably wouldn’t happen
The amount of times that I use a hammer charge for more drops, and a random pulls me to the next encounter is unreal. The only private version is Legend. This one will go down as meh, kinda like Plunder's activity.
it can definitely spawn after the first, but im fairly certain that its rng if 1/2/0 spawn during runs, because some runs i only get 1 or 0. Only a couple of my runs have had 2
The Timegate really killed my Momentum coming off the final shape, I finished all the post campaign questing waiting for Echoes to start, just to play some samey activates that end with another timegate
You got to also think about the fact that bungie used to get bad feedback because they released big content drops all at once and then people played it all in 1-2 weeks. It’s very hard to win as a developer because your core audience is very split in what they want. People like me who really only play D2 kinda prefer this style because I always have a reason to come back. If it was all at once I’d probably play D2 just a few weeks out of the year
Take it slow fam, there's exotic khvostov and exotic heavy trace rifle microcosm to get, also the exotic sword and exotic class item, if you're feel nothing to do, try to farm the above mentioned 👍🏻👍🏻
Meh, doesn’t make too much of a difference to me, as I’ve kept super busy with my personal life, so I’ve had a lot less time to play since raid launch. Its a good way to give me time to catch up
@@pepjacklentso what you are saying is, because you would finish the content in less than a month you want it to be timegated so everyone that likes to play one game at a time is fcked in the ass because they will inevitably quit to play something that they can actually finish? There is no excuse to timegate seasons and they didn't get bad feedback, you are misinterpreting the data they showed, the only thing they got is that people log in less frequently because they can finish something they like and move on until the next season/dlc drops, which means they said "we can make more money by selling content people missed (season pass armor) and we also have a higher % of players that log in each week to show the shareholders/sony." I really like TFS, but with the seasonal content we currently have available its not enough to let me get over the letdown of Lightfall.
As a returning player who hasn’t played since witch queen, what are the most important things to catch up on other than campaigns. Would onslaught be worth farming now that focusing isn’t available anymore?
I’d say try and get a good roll of “the call” from pale heart engrams(or craft it if you can), you could try farm onslaught for an endgame edge transit but I don’t think it’s very easy now you can’t focus. I’ve heard the new HELM rocket is decent with a good roll just TH-cam that if you want that
If you want an easy to run loadout that wipes pretty much everything try The Call, Sunshot & a DPS heavy. I’ve been almost exclusively running this and is great for everything
You should probably farm onslaught. Although you missed its prime (being able to target farm specific weapons, as well as bonus drops and shiny weapons (second row of perks and special ornament)), you should still run it. There’s a lot of good weapons worth getting from it.
I had a run where I had the piston spawn after the 1st encounter AND the 2nd encounter. It was Expert difficulty, but on repeat runs, I did not always have 2 pistons. Not sure if it is just chance regardless of difficulty or not.
Can I do this if I'm a new light and don't want to do the Final Shape campaign yet (still on Shadowkeep) or is Final Shape needed, cos all I want is the seasonal artifact without delving into too many spoilers for myself.

So all we get are 3 Season split into 3 Acts. I would have prefered if they were more like small Dlcs and i could play through them without being timegated or anything (Within one Act of course). At least for me I can much better follow a story if it isnt split up in 5 weeks or so and i can play through it and know what is going on.

Episodes just really feel like longer spread out Seasons tbh. Bungie's business plan to keep players spread out across the year instead of having a large number on launch and spikes only happening every new weekly story and season finale.
It’s to be expected as it launched alongside the expansion. Similar to seasons that launch with expansions, they tend to be lackluster because all their time and effort is put into said expansion. No one is stopping you from doing exactly just that.
Wait for a few weeks and cone back for a chunk of it instead of waiting every week. The episode isn't going anywhere.
@@voltus20rewards, loot, xur. you saying ‘don’t do that’ is ignorant to the fact that we have multiple sources of powerful drops every week.
🤡@@voltus20
3-4? years.
It's similar but it's not the same.,
@@pftvfc66 I have seen absolutely zero difference outside of the cutscene.
@@pftvfc66 cap it’s still kill stuff, follow white waypoint, do what left quest activity objective says.
@@Westbrook__ You're describing the whole Destiny game in your reply. 😅That said, episodes have one huge difference from seasons, imo - There's no grid to fulfill to get buffs and perks.
I was under the impression the timegates would only be for act 1,2,3
that we could play all of the act 1 content when act 1 dropped, instead of the weekly timegated story stuff we always got
going off the high from TFS, back to the weekly seasonal slop really took the wind out of my sails
Can’t wait to see the “Episode 1: Echoes, the Jumpfail edition, w/ Travel Daniel”.
Besides the extra cutscene with saint and Osiris wanting to travel this seemed almost if not the same as a week 1 season launch which these episodes were said to be different did they mean different all together or it’s different late into the episode.
Hopefully week 2 and onward are different from a season model cause in the showcase they made it look like these will be a drastic change to how the content works but in execution this is a bad first impression
so pretty much the last mission. is just there if you want extra stuff....
I hope you’ve gotten some rest since launch!
Yeah...still not seeing enough of a shift away from seasons to secure my purchase. I'll keep an eye out for a breakdown of episode 2 and see if things have improved.
Played a few of these missions thus far, so thank you Datto, or else I'd keep missing those pistons.
That could be one use, but having a reset button solely for one achievement seems a little odd.
I’ve tried going after the pinnacle rewards for doing the activity on Expert but despite platinum got no progress whatsoever.
Tysm for the guide! The quest steps are...weirdly dense.
So many reused Splicer areas. That's a kick in the teeth after TFS came out so great
I think it is better to have re-used them, because TFS "re-uses" tons of other familiar bits like the Tower.
The naming is really mouthful. What's next? 2 Episodes 2 Acts?
Episode 1: Echoes: Act 1. how hard is that
it's not really but go off
I’ve seen double pistons. After the first you can get it and before boss room you can get it. It I think you need the first for the second to spawn. Luckily I was with a team that was hunting for them
I would be so down if they added more long term content like imagine we got 2 30th anniversary’s every year instead of seasons but that probably wouldn’t happen
I love DataFruit and the dream team.
I wanted to update, the piston hammer part does happen twice. You can get it after both encounters. At least on expert difficulty
The amount of times that I use a hammer charge for more drops, and a random pulls me to the next encounter is unreal. The only private version is Legend. This one will go down as meh, kinda like Plunder's activity.
I'm so excited to find out my opinion, thank you Daddo!

4:51 good luck with this sentiment in a MM version of the activity.
it can definitely spawn after the first, but im fairly certain that its rng if 1/2/0 spawn during runs, because some runs i only get 1 or 0. Only a couple of my runs have had 2
From what i've played, expert version seems to guarantee 1 and has a pretty decent chance of having 2.
If it was all at once I’d probably play D2 just a few weeks out of the year
I still haven't finished the post-campaign quests and Echoes feels overwhelming.
There is no excuse to timegate seasons and they didn't get bad feedback, you are misinterpreting the data they showed, the only thing they got is that people log in less frequently because they can finish something they like and move on until the next season/dlc drops, which means they said "we can make more money by selling content people missed (season pass armor) and we also have a higher % of players that log in each week to show the shareholders/sony."
I really like TFS, but with the seasonal content we currently have available its not enough to let me get over the letdown of Lightfall.
@@Keedz yeah i’ve been running the call, sun shot and a threaded needle on prismatic warlock and it’s so good
Farm onslaught, best weapons in the game
You should probably farm onslaught. Although you missed its prime (being able to target farm specific weapons, as well as bonus drops and shiny weapons (second row of perks and special ornament)), you should still run it. There’s a lot of good weapons worth getting from it.
It's worth noting that while pickups are shared, the rarity is random per player, which kinda sucks
FYI, the piston can be after the first and/or second. I had a run with one after the first and one after the second.
I enjoy Datto’s subtle rage for those blueberries that do not know what they do not know.
Having the seasonal weapons be time gated is such a major L and you can’t convince me otherwise.
How are they timegated?
@@volks7x 4/10 of the weapons aren’t available currently with the reasoning being 3 will release in act 2 and other 3 will release in act 3. Maybe it’ll be one new weapon a week we’ll have to see on Tuesday
@@SavvyMon4
There's currently 6 seasonal weapons available, not 4.
The gl, the sword, the rocket, the scout, the auto rifle and the handcannon.
There's also 3 reprised weapons.
They'll most likely bring 2 seasonal and 3 reprised each act.
@@voltus20 forget about he scout and the HC that’s how unmoving they are. I’ll be curious to try a heal clip roll of the scout to see if works after reloading a single shot. And I’m pretty sure the only other 2 dawn weapons returning are Martyr’s and perfect paradox
@@SavvyMon4you do realise that we tend to get 6 weapons in a whole season, right?
Soooo were basically Intergalactic Stickup Boys running around strong arming Vex and taking their packs back to Failsafe?? This is starting to sound like The Wire.. I get it now!! 😅
Honestly I wasn't expecting too much from Echoes Act 1, cause the season following a major release is ALWAYS weak. That being said, this definitely feels a lot more substantial than last year's Season of Defiance, which was basically just strikes. I dunno, I feel like I need to see the other acts and episodes to get a better sense of what they're trying to do.
The nodes stop working after the first part of enigma protocol though??? Game bugged??
I’ve seen multiple pistons appear, I triggered one before a boss and one of my random teammates had triggered another while I was harvesting. This was on the higher difficulty though
NEED HELP. I completed act 1 and act 2 on my titan. I went to do it on my Hunter but I cannot find the intro mission. I can’t find it in the directory or at the failsafe on Nessus. Any suggestions??? Thank you
I have seen the piston once after the first encounter. Every other time I have seen it after the second.
I've seen the piston spawn at launch of breech executable.
Episodes just really feel like longer spread out Seasons tbh. Bungie's business plan to keep players spread out across the year instead of having a large number on launch and spikes only happening every new weekly story and season finale.
Damn this episode seems mighty similar to a season
It’s to be expected as it launched alongside the expansion. Similar to seasons that launch with expansions, they tend to be lackluster because all their time and effort is put into said expansion. The season (in this case episode) is the “after thought” but here’s hoping things get better in the following acts
Bungie said episodes were an evolution of the seasonal formula. Not a replacement for it.
We're 1 week out of 6 (per act) into the 1st act of a 3 act episode, kinda soon to cast judgement.
@@voltus20people already saying that episodes are no different from seasons, when the episode started 6 days ago. people arr actually insane
@@voltus20 ummmm because seasons had the same structure weekly lock out progress, talk to vendor , radio message. Then wait till next week it’s completely obvious it’s the same thing as a season with a different name and longer. What’s the point of “Acts” when everything is weekly progression, and not all dropped in each act?
I didnt notice the little messages above the mission objective from various characters like failsafe and ikora basically vanguard group chat
Im okay with the current content for a little bit the new seasonal content feels like old stuff they had leftover in the content trough that they want to utliize before they begin developing the next arc in the story which is why its reminensent of other seassonal activities. Im hoping for a shift away from the combat loop dunking think into box and shooting stuff gambit esque content for the short term and I hope I'm right.
When they first announced episodes I though this was going to be like bigger chunks of content rather than the weekly time gate again. So far I don't see what's the difference between the two other than the name.
Wait the Enigma timer is up at all times? I’ve only ever seen it appear after the first chest
oh so i wasnt missing anything in that mid point room. It feels like that room should give us perks like in coil. Enigma Protocall is fun but the other one is boring.
noticed a bug that is possible for the time crystals in the sparrow sections to just not give additional time which is super annoying

You didn't go to the boss in Enigma Protocol?

Disappointing how quest steps are time gated.
I hoped Act 1 all drops on onw day,you can finish it on your pace and then wait for Act 2 story quests. So far the only difference i have seen between this and previous seasons was legendady weapons timegate and a single cutscene more.
