As a kid who had queer parents in the 80s and 90s when that was just NOT a thing that happened, this episode is my entire childhood. SU feels just eerily close to my life, sadly sans the space magic.

this isnt any type of spoiler so dont worry-- but the creators of steven universe actually said that they consider there to be NO filler episodes. every episode, even if insanely small, has something to do with the overall plot of the show. its actually pretty great!
i dont mind them, i love the filler ish episodes. i think most people see those episodes as a tiny bit of lore forced into the episode at the end
i think it´s most about lore than rly adding to the plot but it´s still great because lore adds a lot of worldbuilding and makes the universe of a series way more complete and complex

I definitely felt underwhelmed by Alexandrite when I first saw her too but she grew on me the more I saw her. And yeah Connie feels a lot of pressure from her family so that's why she was hiding Steven so hard.
Her design is very lazy and having 6 arms was so bad
@@corrine1310 There’s a theory that a fusion’s appearance depends on how many components there are and how in synch they are with each other. Alexandrite is made of three gems who barely get along with each other, so they’re massive, multi-limbed and just a mess of stuff. Then there’s Opal, who is only two gems, but she has four arms. Then there’s Sugilite, who is toxic and just a bad match, but good for smashing stuff up. Four arms, 5 eyes… just. Woof.

@@Gamebuilder2000 I think this earlier version of Alexandrite looks kinda off is simply because the gems just didn't mesh well for this occasion. However when we see Alexandrite in later episodes ber design is much smoother

About whether Steven can die of old age, remember that episode when he started aging uncontrollably? His age reacted to how old he felt. Keep that in mind.
So that's why he looked the same for 4 years (i think) because he stayed the same behavior. But I wonder why he didn't grow up after becoming mature around S3.

@@jaila1606 Yeah, that's definitely part of it. He gets his age from how he feels and he was being raised mostly by beings who didn't really understand the concept of growing up. He was stunted emotionally, and that meant being stunted physically too.
I agree Alexandrite doesn't shine in her intro episode, but wait until you see her fight!
Yeah, a dinner date isn't the best intro to a gem fusion who is almost entirely centered around kicking ass.
There are actually a few Steven Universe games. The best ones are Attack The Light and Unleash The Light. They are really good quality and also cannon to the series.

I always found it interesting how in Steven’s own imagination, Ronaldo was the bad guy, and the fox man, who was the good guy actually had the voice of Lars. Like that says something about how he veiws them
Garnet is very interesting, you'll definitely understand her much more as the show goes on.

Don't dismiss Ronaldo automatically, since he's the classic fool who in his madness inadvertently speaks the truth on some things that remain hidden for now.
Gems in general don't have a lot of empathy for others (there are definitely exceptions), and less so for humans than for other Gems. You will learn why Garnet and Pearl get along fine while Amethyst is the odd Gem out.
Buckle up for the next few weeks.
Steven Universe has a lot of things that are inspired by anime (like Ringo's transformation being based on sailor moon) and theres some Luffy inspiration in the future

Part of her fighting style, like when she blew into her thumb (I think, been a while since she watched it) and enlarged her hand before punching Steven with a neck
And also I only said some Luffy inspiration
we get a lot more of Connie's relationship with her parents later... and her actions start to make more sense. doesn't make them GOOD decisions, but they make sense
also, "come out of her gem" is what you were looking for at the end XD
Also keep in mind, every fusion is a mix of each party involved so therefore all types of personalities are involved, also another fun fact, there’s only one other fusion that has 2 mouths( not important but worth it when you realize it)

For episode 33, you could compare the rabbit and frog to amethyst and Pearl, that is a pretty good comparison. Just keep this episode in mind in the next couple of seasons..... No spoilers.

When you said you were waiting for Steven to get disciplined, this was actually the second time. The first was just before Steven released Lapis Lazuli from the mirror. Garnet told him to give her the mirror and he straight up slapped her hand away and knocked her glasses off. He ran out the door in fear and Garnet said "That little boy... is in big trouble!" At the end of that episode, after Lapis escaped into the ocean, Garnet said "Steven, you're grounded."
I mean, they didn't really punish him officially, but that was definitely a moment of thin patience.

It's really more that Ronaldo is exceptionally weak for a human rather than that Pearl is superhard and painful to punch.

Hahaha they have many Steven Universe games! There's a trilogy of games, Attack the Light, Save the Light, and Unleash the Light, they also have a few mobile games as well. The trilogy did really well and I love playing what I have, but you can't play the second game until after season 4 because of spoilers, and I recommend playing the third game right before or after watching the movie because again, spoilers. But if you do play them, I know you will love them.

The Garnet episode was my favorite because that’s my favorite crystal gym also I love when it showed her walking a sports bra and she tied up her shirt like a jacket that was really nice and that was clever but it’s kind of weird because I thought they don’t wear clothes I thought it’s fused with your skin but you know
I got so mad in the second episode in this video, because why couldn't Connie tell her parents that Steven doesn't have a mom? Like why?? Why would that be an issue to tell your parents that? Are they that strict that they can't know your friends mom isn't around?
I think it was more the fact Connie didn’t want to tell them about Garnet Amethyst and Pearl rather then Rose being gone

I always come to appreciate how spot-on the foreshadowing from Ronaldo was in ep 31. It went completely unnoticed by many viewers, (including myself the first time around) as he was just perceived as being a little manic in that scene. Coming back to it though, it was very well-placed in SU.

What's funny is that i watched Steven Universe way before I knew more about anime and the dub and sub wars. Now that I'm rewatching it; I'm like...Ronaldo has a point there.
Steven Universe has 3 Great games. Especially the 2nd one, 'Save the Light'. It's just like Paper Mario RPGs. The 1st and 3rd one are solid but are more designed around mobile phone touch screens (the 1st one, Attack The Light, is only on Mobile). Definitely recommend it tho

Ronal is a very hated character in the fandon, he is funny in small doses but they overplayed his too many times to a annoying level. that not to mention some very questionable marketing decisions where commercials hyped up episodes as very relevant for weeks to ending up just bein a Ronaldo episode..... they fuking did it 2 times (arguably even 3).
ep 31 While Ronaldo is this world Alex jones and somewhat a jab to the fandom theorists the crew used him to foreshadow many important plot points but in a way that don't make sense before they happen. he was so right in so many things that part of me still waiting the interdimensional elves erm.. i mean sneople appears in a new season

Wait a minute. A gem is literally just a gem. Their physical form is just like solid light, or a solid hologram. So what does their "skin" feel like? Would a slap from a gem be like a slap from a human, or from a person made of rock? Are they soft/squishy, and if so, why? Why is Garnet's hair "poofy", and why do they even have hair? Like, what benefit does that stuff give them, since they wouldn't need it from an evolutionary standpoint?
