Spoke right to me in the first 2 min. Needed this video. Thanks bro

Thanks dude!
Thanks for stopping by 😊
Thx 🎉
I've had the machine for a couple days now and love it. It's amazing how well it runs even on silent mode. This laptop ticks all the boxes for me. It's quiet enough and bright enough to operate it in a sunny room next to my wife without disturbing her. Also, I upgraded to 64 GB of 5200 RAM (Crucial) and it is recognized as 5200 in Armory Crate. My only complaint is the blooming and brightness fluctuations with the mini LED screen. That's just something that has to be lived with, with this technology. I think if someone goes in with proper expectations, it's a great option. If I could get a mythical 1000 nit 240 Hz OLED, that would be my preference but for now this is about as good as it gets.
Awesome take I'm glad you're enjoying it! RAM is definitely my next upgrade, glad it worked out
How is the heat management on gpu and cpu on heavy usage? What are the average temps you are getting? And what gpu you got?
5200? It's supposed to support up to 4800.
Edit: Just checked on the Best Buy website in the questions and answers. The 5200 is compatible. Am I to assume you downclocked the RAM? If so, how did you do it.
Hi John, exactly which crucials did u use? Thx
@@Skwor111 according to my Amazon order history it's the CT2K32G52C42S5. The 64GB kit.
Bought my 2023 M16 GU604VI last weekend. Took out the one 16gb stick and Installed two 32gb sticks last night, what a difference! Adding a 2TB SSD when it comes in. Love this machine! I retired my ROG GM501(gave it to the grandson). So far, very happy.
This is exactly what I ended up doing! I absolutely love it and glad you do too 👍
Installing the 2TB SSD was easier than I thought. I also added a cooling pad to the SSD. So far no issues, runs flawlessly
@@allenbassham2067 glad everything worked out!
Hey do you mind telling me where you bought the ram? What speed as well? Thanks!
@@Jowersman check out my ram video. All the details are in it 👍
Hey man, just wondering if you'll also get a 1tb microsd card from sandisk for the sd card slot in the right port. I usually just put random stuff in it. it's slow but. it also acts as backup storage since the micro sd fits nicely and good thing we got 1tb sd card capacity these days. though the price is kinda steep but. u can store files with 100/mbs write and read speeds. I use mine for nostalgic old games like plants vs zombies and old popcap games/visual novels/emulator stuff. pretty cool. I wanna know what ur thinking of putting with the micro sd slot. thank you
Personally I have a few items like my rog ally and some video cameras I use the micro SD card slot for. So it's always being used with different micro sds. I threw the 2tb SSD in the other slot for my games personally 👍
Awesome video! Which thermal pad did you use in your pack? I purchased the same pack on Amazon that came with two, and one pad was thicker than the other.
Thank you! I used the thiccc boi
@@StevenMakesVids I appreciate you!!
hi, awesome video
could you advise what thickness of a thermal pad would be the best here?
thank you! not sure the exact tolerance but the pack I used worked just fine. Link is in the description for reference.
@@StevenMakesVids so it makes proper contact? I have seen people recommending a thicker pad but this one does look nice.
@@Ben.N yes the pad I'm using does make proper contact from what I've seen
Thanks for this, I was wondering if the stick has to be installed under the wifi card.
Glad I could help! Definitely goes on top
hello, great videos, do you think a 4tb ssd will work, or only max 2tb?
I appreciate it! Yes 4tb will work.
I always wondered about that spot didn't know I could put ssd on top of the wifi card xd. thanks tho.
What’s the size of the thermal pad? Did you use the standard or low profile?
Not sure honestly I just used whichever one that was in the kit I got from the link in the description
What brand/type of RAM stick did you end up using to upgrade yours?
Forgot the brand but I did make a video on that if you want to check it out!
Are you in the US? Do you void warranty by upgrading RAM/SSD?
Yes, and I don't believe so.
did you encounter a battery light indicator issue after removing the panel and replacing it?
No I have not, and I've removed the panel a few times
I did 64gb ram upgrade and it’s been awesome. I regularly get over 32 gb so the 64 was necessary
what are you doing for it to use that much?
Just bought this laptop 3 days from Best Buy on sale. (GPU is 4070)
What's the max storage SSD I can put in the laptop? Also, any reason you bought a 970 over a 980?
It's either 4 or 8 terabytes and I honestly got the 970 because the price was too tempting when I got it lol
Hi, I would like to know if the original PC RAM is 8gb+8gb or one 16gb. what brand are they. Oh, and do I need to disconnect the power before installing? I'm going to buy the M16😊
The 2023 m16s have 1 stick of 16gb ram
You don't need to disconnect the battery because when you take the bottom plate off, it automatically disables the battery
Some people recommended I put thermal pads on both sides of the new ssd, do you think there's enough room to do that without squishing the wifi card?
im curious when I use Samsung magician in mines it says unknown driver interface Why?
I mean everything works but shouldn't it just work
mine definitely just worked. the ssd may have not been seated properly
@@StevenMakesVids in magician what does it say in your driver details
Is the thermal pad necessary? I just installed it without it and laptop won’t turn on with battery power
I don't believe the thermal pad would stop the laptop from turning on. I do believe it's necessary when doing intensive tasks because it has no way to dissipate heat. I would reconnect the battery if I was you and install a thermal pad so your machine doesn't overheat
@@StevenMakesVids I fixed it, battery wasn’t fixed properly. I think I’ll have to stick a thermal pad beca I’ll be doing video editing using that SSD
Thermal pad just applies contact to chassis for longer duration performance
@@incognitox9632 not sure exactly I believe it's on the Amazon description
Someone has lived on Camp Barrett lol.
🤫
Is this the same installation process the G16 ?
Don't have a G16 but to my knowledge yes they're fairly similar
@@StevenMakesVids thank you appreciate it
am I able to install a 5200Ghz RAM in this notebook? I would like to stay with 2 32Gb RAM of 5200 GHZ
It does! I have a video on my channel of installing RAM in this bad boy actually
I just got this laptop and upgraded the RAM to 64GB 5200 and added a secondary M.2 EVO 990 PRO. I'm having an odd issue. Both the original SSD and the new EVO show in BIOS, but not in Disk Manager. I have never had this happen before and blame Windows 11 some how. lol any ideas?
Have you fragmented your storage?
Sorry I meant partitioned
@@StevenMakesVids it was a brand new drive. Oddly, when I flipped drive ports it worked. I couldn't say why, but it's up and running. :)
My SSD shows up in the BIOS but not in disk manager.. anyone else?
SCAR 16 4090 or M16 4090? I really like the premium case and design of a M16, in other hand, SCAR 16 is more powerfull with a full 165w gpu and HX cpu and a 500$ cheaper...
I chose the M16 personally because of how beautiful and slim it is. I use it for work sometimes and bringing a chungus rgb strix just wasn't something I wanted to do. I think you're solid with the 4080 M16 unless that extra vram is worth the heavy price tag
@@StevenMakesVids yes, I'm agree with you, it's an awesome laptop! Got the 4090 model yesterday 😊
@@Dima-dc5mf awesome! Enjoy the machine 👍
Scar 16 also runs much cooler. Better heat management!
@adriatics.3357 my M16 is 80c on a CPU in turbo mode, cyberpunk 2077 everything max/on. How much temp on the CPU in the Scar?
Mind telling us what GPU your m16 has?
4080. I have a few other videos on my channel in regard to it.
@@StevenMakesVids lmk if you consider selling it.
I hate the experience of open the back panel of this laptop. It is way more painful than my previous one
Try doing it on a MSI laptop. That's pain 😂😂
regarding ram however, I bought the Vengeance 16gb 1stick CL40 GDDR5 4800mhz from best buy. to match the ram inside of it. but seen most ppl just bought a pair to use for optimal performance. but hopefully the one that i bought should suffice matched the included ram in the laptop.
i was thinking of getting that same exact model since the speeds matched and all that. Let me know how it goes for you! May be my next upgrade since its rather inexpensive
@@StevenMakesVids buying this laptop however, gave me heart attacks cuz I downloaded PUBG gave me a blue screen
reason for the BSOD: Kernel Mode etc in security features is on
after than I downloaded Valorant to test it out. gave me a blue screen as well
reason for the BSOD: still unconfirmed but maybe related to the memory core isolation even if u turn it off still gives u a BSOD some peeps say it might be a permissions problem or the vanguard software itself.
I got the 4070 variant btw
@@nagatasan_21 interesting, this was after you installed the RAM?
@@StevenMakesVids no. it always happen even without the ram. so I guess might be the gpu issue or perhaps windows 11
I did that and it's fine. The 32GB stopped my fps drops from running out of memory. But also I leave Chrome running which is a known resource hog. Worth it for $40
I was able to confirm that the #1 Philips head is the correct driver size that ASUS recommends. Thanks for another helpful video. dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/GamingNB/GU604VI/GU604VZ_Customer_Self_Repair_Guide_20230131_2.pdf?model=ROG%20Zephyrus%20M16%20(2023)%20GU604
