With regard to the software, try using the Vimeo Studio 6 application. This was the original editing and producer designed to work with the Mevo camera system before Logitec acquired the product. The laptop-preferred application gives you extensive control over audio, graphics, color control, and special effects. The system automatic recognition of the Mevo cameras. We have used this application to stream conference sessions that were a blend of remote streams and physical, onsite capture. We can stream to multiple outlets at one time as well as record the entire program locally. As for wireless vs. wired, we have used a mix of Mevo start cameras where one of the 3 was linked wirelessly for a close-up front of stage placement (no wires to trip over). The other 2 were linked via medium-length CAT5 cables.

I don't believe it's fair to criticise the wireless performance based on your networks. I run 3 Mevo starts on a private portable network with only NDI devices and the iPad running the app using it - It's been rock solid so far, both in conventional mode and using NDI to feed a vMix machine. No drops no app freezes

While I appreciate your input, please note that I used the system in the same manner as stated in the Mevo tutorials that were approved by Logitech for Creators. While I have four separate WiFi systems in my home, with one being totally dedicated and unused by other devices, the results were not reliable. I also used this system in various locations as well and with a 5G hotspot with a very strong signal. I did my best in preparing my review.

@@TheGadgetGuru Please don't think I was "having a go" that was not my intent - I also bought my Mevos, I agree that the App layout regarding audio etc is poor - I did find if I use older networks with less than 150Mbps there were glitches, my portable network gives a link speed of over 800Mbps and using that its solid.Signal strength in my experience means very little if you don't have good link speed over the wifi network.

@@LA12Livestreams what is your preferred mobile wifi setup when only a hotspot is available with the mevo?

      @@FibKingTrading I use a Peplink bonded router - combines 2 x sim cards and a external cat5 feed from a Netgear M1 into 1 data pipe - I get a steady 15-20 meg upload in most places

love your review... i wonder what you would recommend instead of the Mevo?

So what is your recommendation for a similar setup. I looked for your yolo box review but perhaps it's not done yet (or can you link it for me?) From what I saw the yolobox is the broadcaster piece, but I presume you'd have to get the cameras separate, which would you suggest based on your experience? As the price of the yolobox appeared to be about 25% more without cameras it seems like it's going to be significantly more expensive (2x or more based on cameras/mics if needed, etc). Doesn't that put it in a different category? Are there any wireless options for getting started that are closer to this $1k start range? For a lot of us that's not a trivial sum of cash.

You're correct in that the YoloBox Pro is in a slightly different category as it doesn't include cameras, but it offers many additional features as well as a higher level of connection reliability. I've been busy with other projects and haven't started using the YBP as of yet, but hope to get to it soon. In terms of my opinion of the Mevo Start System, my experience showed that it was simply too buggy and relied on too many factors to deliver a reliable experience.

I am thinking of getting this system, and thank you very much for sharing some of the potential problems, the audio side theoretically shouldn’t be a problem as I’d be running sound into only one camera via the sound devices mixpre 3 and EV re20’s, could you tell me if you have run the system this way and what the results are

Live Support and Mevo. No dice. Zoom support? Nope.
