I’m a 5th gen FL native. Having lived in MN for 4+ years now, I’ve met many men from other states who met their MN native wives somewhere else and they ended up back in MN. Things I’ve noticed, Minnesotans don’t like umbrellas. They do like beginning a conversation with statements: “Big snow coming tomorrow.” Seriously though. Great, smart people. Having lived many years in FL I get asked why I moved to MN. My reply is always: “I’d rather have an 80% chance of snow than an 80% chance of crime.”

Born and raised Minnesotan here, I admit I always get curious why people move here. We're kinda used to the psychotic winters here but I wouldn't expect someone, especially from a warmer state to really like it here. Glad you do!

Everyone would rather walk slowly in freezing cold horizontal rain rather than ever using an umbrella!! Lol! It’s so funny to me how much people seemingly hate them. You could probably find a lot more Minnesotans with an extra snow/ice scraper than you’d ever find that own an umbrella 😆

It’s late February right now. We have gotten more snow this February than any other February in history (by 5 inches, 31.5 in is the new record.) As a high schooler, I’ve never missed more school to snow or cold, ever - I haven’t had a full 5 day schoolweek in like 7 weeks. Cartier231 I also love your state and can I just say that Minnesota is amazing and I know that not even being from the state itself. From the moment I first read about it and learned of its beautiful scenery, kind people, lovely food and healthy recreational activities I have just been love struck and hope to move there in the future (hopefully very soon if I may add because I really want to go and see the beauty of this state)
Also, this is completely unrelated- But I like and respect Wisconsin too so I hope Minnesotans don't view me as a traitor when I move there.
      Love from Connecticut :)

Fish (cod) soaked in lye until it’s a stiff board, then rinsed in water until it’s soft and then cooked and served in a white sauce. Imo, it tastes like someone made a block of unflavored gelatin and served it in said white sauce: no flavor, no texture...but a lot of people like it (I’m not one of them).

I moved out here from Cali & couldn’t leave Minnesota fast enough!!!!! People here are rude, passive aggressive, racist, terrible drivers, disrespectful & the weather is BAD. There are no natural bodies of water that you can swim in (lakes?!?? No those are giant toilets, do you SMELL them thawing every spring?) , no views, no spare the air days, endless litter & pot holes on the road or endless construction. When I meet a nice person or an alert person I am happy the rest of the day, it’s SO RARE. Everyone asks “why are you leaving?!? The weather is just starting to get nice!!” Oh you mean it’s about to be hot & sticky & my baby will be attacked by mosquitos if I don’t spray her with chemicals? Then shortly after dying all summer of heat it will be SIX MONTH of NO GOING OUTSIDE. Yeah no thanks. I’m not stupid, I know that winter will be here in no time.
