Been a fan/subscriber of DJI for years now. The amount of innovation coming out of this company is phenomenal. This company is taking a niche product and sending it main stream. GPS mapping is not something new to the drone world. With this app however, it is going to make it easier for the every day person to access technology in mind blowing ways. Just WOW. Huge fan and fellow phantom 3 professional flyer. GO DJI, Bring us all the future! :)
YES YES YES!! This is an excellent addition to my DJI collection. Finally I'll be able to do more 3D work thanks to the automation provided by this application. Another great thing about software like this is that it makes DJI's physical products, new and old, gain new value. This is a great move by DJI... I hope they continue this trend of innovation and upgrades.
Just used this. The fence mode works flawlessly. Mission editing is good but lacks the required camera settings screen. I'd probably have to go into the GO app and set the camera settings as required. It's really well built but is a bit lacking, wouldn't call it pro yet as far as features go but it's a good start. I hope they continue to develop it. Maybe even open up the the fence feature to the SDK. It stops at each waypoint, be nice if you round the corners and fly through them smoothly like AutoPilot. No big deal but would make for smoother flight. The propagation of data to other waypoints is a bit hit and miss as well. For start recoding you can only have one at start or wherever and you must have a stop before next start. For the gimbal angle you have to propagate it to each waypoint or it does it and moves it back after for flight between points. I need to check if I can keep the gimbal at one angle throughout the flight as we may use it for SAR to keep the camera looking down. It has to compete against AutoPilot which blows this out of the water still. I can't see any way to log into my DJI account either which I use to upload the flights to dronelogbook as this feature is important to us. We need to keep track of batteries used etc. I've just checked if the flight uploaded in the background based on the GO4 app settings but no go. This is important. Would give it 3 stars out of 5 if I could here just for the fact that no camera settings (unless I can't find them), lacking corner rounding, DJI account integration and general lacking in mission planning. One to watch though and will use it for fencing mode alone as that will be great for teaching people how to fly.
I just wanna point out that nVidia has released a software that can create 3d point maps and whole environments (including accurate water simulations) from pictures that were taken without any specific angle in mind. You just feed it hundreds of images (or more) and it can recognize objects and landmarks that are seen in one image in other images and then it uses hte combined data to create 3d models and textures. It also recognizes water, grass, and so on. This actually gives you the possibility to create something like the map for a gmae from randomly taken real life photos. If you did that with drone photographs (or evne individual frames of raw drone video) you can get a much more accurate representation of your real-life object. DJI and nVidia should work together in terms of drone AI (fun fact: nVidia has been working on a drone that navigates, even throught forests, without GPS, just with a camera.).
i notice in the app store that dji gs is compatible with ipad only. Will it works also with A 5.5in 1080p screen integrated with the Phantom 4 Pro ? or just with ipad?
I hope the features will soon arrive for Phantom 4 Pro Plus. Otherwise I will regret having taken the version with the screen (more expensive) and still run out of resources or having to wait longer than the others to have access to the new features.
I think the next drone DJI will be a drone that receives the signal from a phantom/inspire/mavic remote and then beams it over to the phantom/inspire/mavic this way if the beaming drone is hovering at 120m it will have a large line of sight to the phantom/inspire/mavic. Giving us 7km range in enclosed areas.
Dear DJI, how about working on your production issues with the DJI Mavic Pro. I have been waiting since November to receive my drone and the estimated shipping is the end of January. 4 to 6 weeks production time... Ya Right more like 12+ weeks.

What happens if you lose radio signal during an autonomous mission? Does it return home? Is it possible to set it up so that it carries on with the mission even though the radio link has been lost?

According to the DJI Website Info on GS Pro, it will be compatible with both the newer P4Pro and Inspire2. My big question is this - P4Pro+ has a built in Screen Unit; this GS Pro App is iOS ONLY - will it be possible to download GSPro to the new P4Pro+ ?????
