    For making hands free connections with the multi meter, ive found alligator clips work well, I use one of those 18" or so cables with alligator clips on each end and connect one to the ground and the other to the negative needle/pin to the multimeter.

    Your issue with having to have two fuses in your 'add a fuse' is due to the fact you have inserted your piggy back the WRONG way round. If you take out, rotate 180 degrees and reinsert you only need one fuse in.

      good call

      I think each fuse in the fuse box has a load side & a draw side.HG could have checked which is the load side with his multi meter first before inserting the piggy (Load side would have showed about 12.4 volts/the drawer side 0 ) . With the fuse side of the piggy facing you(& the new fuse inserted into the top of the piggy) the wire to the dash cam is going right.The load side of the piggy would be on the left hand side & needs to be inserted into the fuse box to match the load side in the fuse box.. I know 2 years too late.

    Check out the BlendMount! It mounts your BlackVue to your rear view mirror, instead of using adhesive on your windshield. They make mounts for radar detectors too!

      i had a lot of blend mounts.. i think the stickon is way more stealth than hanging down from the rear view.. i cant even see the camera now while sitting in the car.

    Are you going to show how you installed the rear camera too? I bought a two camera dash cam for my Pure White '18 GTI but haven't installed the rear camera because I don't know exactly how to run the wire through to the back. I want to run the wire through the tubing but I'm worried I'll break something removing panels and/or cause rattles afterwards.

      ya there will be a video on the rear camera install later. i have had the hatch stuff off on many of my gtis.

    Hello LastHumanGarge great Video and detail, love your videos. Can you tell me the piggy back fuse thing is that a mini fuse? Do you have any recommendations on where to get one? I’m looking to do similar how you have wired directly to the fuse box. Great idea. Thank you.

    • @LastHumansGarage
      @LastHumansGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      well i got confused with the fuse type too, there are some new styles. there is a mini, and then there is a mini which has a thinner tunnel in between the prongs. i recommend pulling one from car and walking into store to match it up.

      LastHumansGarage thanks a lot for the quick reply. I also have a MK7.5 GTI and will do as you’ve recommended. Thank you.

    Ok so just to confirm, regardless of whether or not your replacing a fuse or putting a new one in, you need two tens to make it work?
    Thanks a ton

      it seems weird, but that's what i found. you can always try just one fuse in each slot and see if you can get it working. I think the inner fuse is connectivity for the outer accessory fuse.

    What cable wrap did you use to make that little “cocoon” with the 12v plugs, and it looks like you also used it to neatly wrap up the fuse taps?

    Have you had issues with the blackvue magic pro since hardwiring it?

    3m makes a ton of different double sided tape. 3m probably makes the tape they sent you. They don't just make grey.

      ah

    • @elterrible00esb
      @elterrible00esb 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I went tracking down tape after I used up the included mount tape for my camera... and 3m makes dozens or hundreds of different variations of tape. The clear type that comes with the camera is called VHB and I was able to find it in roll form on amazon. Also used it to mount my cross over boxes inside the doors.

    Can you see the camera while driving?
    Im really thinking about getting a similar one but i dont want to see the camera or it being on my way.
    Thanks

      @LastHumansGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      nope. i was just thinking about that a few mins ago on my drive to work. the camera is completely hidden behind my rear view mirror. really sweet as it doesnt take away any of my view.

    You should do the Clubsport roof spoiler mod 😜

    • @GTI_CHHA
      @GTI_CHHA 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      P C That will be very pricey as the CS spoiler requires a standard Golf rear hatch door! The GTI hatch door is different from the standard Golf. So you can only mount it when you also replace the hatch door..... that will be too expensive...

      no interest in any of that. i like the stock look just fine.

    I guess once you locate a hot fuse without the key on and one with the key off your good to go.
