Memphis Jug Band with Hattie Hart (1930)
Original lyrics-
Papa’s Got Your Bath Water On
Shall you tell me who’s the flapper I see you with every night?
And she’s vampin’ so hard, I’m bound to lose my appetite
That’s my brownskin mama, better known as Miss Jennie Rice
I’m going to make you wish you never had been born
I just went uptown, got my gun out of pawn
Don’t start nothing, baby, because your papa’s got your bath water on
If you don’t have me, papa, you won’t have no gal at all
And it seems all the women you meet are bound to fall
Now if you don’t believe I’m a jockey you can back your mule up in my stall
Come on, old papa, ‘cause mama ain’t mad at you
But tell me makes you keep me so worried and blue
Your daddy’s interested, mama, but it ain’t got his work to do
Opp here come the tears and the silly smile plastered on my face.. ! Thanks Tuba Skinny !
Cool as cool can be!!!!!!!
Tuba Skinny at their best. Love them all. 💕 What a great bluesy sound by Craig on the clarinet.
This band is outstanding (and still getting better and better)!
It's nice to see a band like Tuba Skinny keeping New Orleans jazz alive. Love this music. Fire up the vintage record player. Pour me some lemonade and join me on the front porch swing.
Erika Lewis: I love you.
Great song, just look at all those young people dancing up a storm!
Wow ,playing indoors , getting up on the world... Bravo comrade!
I love Ericka and Shay, I could watch and listen to them all day.
FANTASTIC
Look at all the people dancing!! A sure sign that you are doing something right (from a musicians pov!) 🇦🇺💖
Bravo!
the Blue are Back and alive in well.... I think Louie would be very proud of these young vipers

ЕЩЕ РАЗ ПОВТОРЮСЬ.ЛАБУХИ Молодцы ЛАБАЙТЕ и дальше в Таком Духе
Continuez ..... je voudrais vous rencontrer ..... bon, good, Bono.... merci beaucoup.
Erika is sizzling hot! A voice of a 1920s Diva!
Erika is perfect for the genre.I cant think of anyone today that could touch her or even come close. Greg is not too shabby either but nothing can beat Erikas pipes!
Tiene la voz justa, es como escuchar un disco de pasta en 78 RPM Grandiosa!!!!!!
This is an odd song in the Tuba Skinny pantheon of signature songs. The tempo is slower, and we get an insight into an unusual relationship between two lovers, "Mama" and "Poppa." This version of the classic song eliminates the verse where Mama talks about getting her gun out of pawn so she can put an end to Poppa dancing with other women. This is a great song for both Erika and Greg. Their delivery is nothing short of perfect.
Hey! Hey!! Hey!!!
You rarely hear a jazz band play anything in the key of A, but that's the key Tuba Skinny always use for this straightforward 12-bar blues. It's on their 2012 album 'Rag Band', with Shaye playing fiddle rather than cornet, and Ryan on harmonica as well as providing the male voice in the duet. For yet another permutation, with Ryan on vocal and banjo, see: th-cam.com/video/k0q4TfaS60I/w-d-xo.html
It's fun to hear Todd deal with low A. Usually he doesn't venture down that far. But on a Bb tuba or sousaphone, low A is almost always a resonant tone.
@@gordonbainbridge8371 ...and you can even hear him playing a low Ab in James Sterling's recent video of 'Storyville Blues'.
@@PopsCoffee Yes. It's a nice deep sound. Most tubas are pretty good down to low F sharp. That's usually where the problems begin. It takes an incredible amount of air to play F sharp, F, and E with any speed (3-valve goes down only to E). When we were in New Orleans a few weeks ago, I talked to Todd about his horns, and especially about the King three-piston tuba he uses. Over the weekend I went down to Portland and got a beautiful 1961 King model 1240. And I'm glad that TS keeps the original key for Storyville.
@@PopsCoffee I love Storyville, and it's a great key for tuba/sousaphone.
@@gordonbainbridge8371 Agreed. And congratulations on the King purchase. I hope it's giving great pleasure.
Tubaskinny, toujours les meilleurs !
erica ! shaye ! guys ! sensational !
Hey, Mr. Dodds. Don't mean to nitpik... The show was at the Happyland Theater. I was there, also. Remember the holes in the ceiling? Definitely a shoe-string budget & a killer show. Love the videos & Thanks!!!
Fixed it. Thanks.
A great band. SWEET! Check out the sexy dancers
Name of the tune: " Papa got your Bathwater on"
Thanks...
Sounds great - sure beats today's music. The vocals should be more out in front in the mix though.
It's someone in the audience with their camera, the sound is not what it would have sounded like in the room...
- А у нас так не танцуют!..
- Где это у вас?..
- В Москве...)
TS at their most sublime.
Erica Nice
Too bad the audio is not better, this is a great band.
Her name is actually spelled "Erika".
Whoops....
