Fun times watching Tuba Skinny do their thing today in the Quarter with a special appearance by a guest dancer! Quentin Bardi sitting in on banjo, all the way from France. Recorded 3-25-24
Funny part I had hair like that. Sometime after my 4th birthday it got cut off. Yep got sent to school. Mom kept the hair in a jar for years. By the time I was 20 it was almost black. My dad kept a picture of me in my cousin's dress in his wallet. My aunt said I was a prettier girl than Regina was. Italians are cruel like that.
This is the great thing you do...not just entertaining the public, but teaching the public casually that there is other music besides what is shoved down their ears and brains by corporate radio playlists, by playing the music and by exposure educating the young and the adults that there is other music besides what record execs want them to hear, to sell advertising time on media. Same for all members of the band who have other music they play and write. You are all amazing how you have endured and made a full life of music for others to discover. Met you Three Oaks MI in Sept last year. I was the former music teacher, fumbling for words I was so starstruck lol..
love you, man. saw you guys at d.b.a. back around jan.7. my best friend works at BMI in nashville, i told him frottoir is the most fun part of the show (he played drums back when we had a garage band). 45 years later, y'all bring joy to everyone who listens!
I love the smile on the older lady. Full of joy...the child's dancing is full of joy. Please don't anyone feel because you are older you are headed for the pasture. There's plenty left in us. Just you wait....
@@sylviacarlson3561 Amen to that! Never underestimate anyone, really. Often, kids can be wiser than adults, and have had more trials and tribulations than adults, too! My grandfather was in his 80s and wanted to relearn Morse code (he had been an amateur radio operator), but my grandmother told him he was too old and couldn't do it. Meanwhile, I was 11 and a girl, and my grandfather didn't think i could get my ham radio license and learn Morse. Six months later i had my license and he and i could both send and receive code like the wind! We were so stinking proud of each other! Ah, crap, why did i have to say all of that, I miss him so much now 🥺 Rest in joy WB4DQV
I love the French Quarter. This is my home; altho I’m old-ish and disabled, I can feel the same way now as when I’d take a bus to town & walk thru the French Quarter and feel the best vibes the City of New Orleans had to offer. I’m outside the city now, but it’s still “home.” ❤
Been loving Tuba Skinny forever! I don't know how Shay and her other brass and reed players can even play when they got such big smiles from their dancing fans :) Thanks for sharing this with us
As fantastic as the trumpet solo is---echoes of old 'Bix' in uplifting the jazz number---one has never seen such a 'dazzling' dance routine from a child, who enters into the spirit of the thing! This really is astounding, and the young bouncing 'beauty' has such boundless energy throughout the performance!
What a great rhythm section, so clean and crisp its the perfect platform for the front line who are also great players. After playing the streets of Amsterdam Holland for three years every single day three sets per day including Christmas and New Years day, I can tell you a thing or three about the difficulties of doing your best every day, rain or shine, frozen fingers and sweaty hot days .Keep up the great playing guys and gal.
Ah que vous êtes magnifiques quand le sourire jaillit à la danse magnifique d'une toute petite fille! Bravo les Skinny ! Le talent sans prétention. La finesse sans arrogance. La joie sans facilités !
I love this music! Passed down through the family....my grandfather...my father. My third cousin was Miff Mole, a popular trombonist with his own band who played with Red Nicholls during the '20's and '30's. The little girl was so sweet.
THAT LITTLE GIL IS HAVING A GREAT TIME DANCING TO TUBA SKINNY S' MUSIC . SHE ACTALLY IS DOING A VERY GOOD JOB OF DANCING TO THE MUSICS' BEAT SHES A NATURAL
Wonderful video! Thank you! I think this child comes from a family of dancers or musicians and often sees people dancing solo jazz/tap or dances with them.
The way you start this tune by reving the engine a little, then slam down on the pedal, and the music explodes like magic. That child felt the Joy in your playing. She had to dance. Tuba Skinny makes the world a better place. Keep swingin’!
I bet every one of these very fine musicians had their hearts bursting with pride at the effecf their work had on this bonnie wee-lassie - hell, had the elderly lady behind been asked she probaly wouldve joined her !. Superb entertainment !

When I was about three years old, I got infected by the music of a bluegrass band in Silver Dollar City. I wasn't nearly as confident as our young dancer here, though; as soon as I realized people were watching me, I went and hid behind Dad's legs.
Get that kid to dance class - any dance class - all the dance classes you can find. She has music and rhythm in her bones. What joyousness!
Exactly!
@@anniekirts6621That little girl is a joy to watch , she is really into the moment bless her.
indeed first i thought she was a part of the show lol
😂 Shirley who????

This is why we play! For little kids to dance and for people to listen. What a good busk.

The white haired lady in the gray coat and the little one dancing, decades apart, one coming, one going, both loving the trip. Good music is timeless.
Warum haben so viele Menschen ein Lächeln auf den Lippen? Herrliche Musik. So sollte unser Leben sein. Danke der Band😊
Beautiful 😍

You know you're doin' it right when little kids start dancing. Good to hear from you again.
