This is a great performance. I especially liked the playing of Barnabas and Todd. Barnabas combines the roles of trombone and 2nd trumpet to perfection so that he can support the vocals and instrumental solos and still solo effectively. His playing is restrained, lyrical and appropriate to what is happening in the band. Todd is now a major league tuba player. His playing during the tuttis and the solos is full and complex with no eccentricities or 2nd line posturing. Play this song again and listen to what he does,. And his own solo is relaxed, melodic and well-developed.

But Erika recorded it with Shaye at the piano and Norbert Susemihl on his album "Meet me on Frenchmen Street" a couple of years ago.

It seems that I always find that I need my weekly and daily Tuba Skinny. The two gals are the glue that makes Tuba Skinny work!
They would go down a storm at the Edinburgh Festival or Glasgow's Celtic Connections. I think a tour of the UK is order. I love Tuba Skinny.

Has Erika moved back? I love all you guys, each a gem, and her inimitable vocals round out the virtuosity in a way that you can’t hear anywhere else.
She still lives in Asheville but was in New Orleans when this was recorded.

Erika sings in the Key of G.
Correct. Well done, Robert. And of course it's a key that most jazz bands very rarely use - though Tuba Skinny often seem comfortable with it.
