Hi guys. In my experience, if you change bullets or especially powder types, it can take a round or two for the POI to settle in its new location. Not always, but often. I think you saw some of that here. It would be a good idea to give each ammo type an off group fouling shot, or at least track if the first shot is consistently the outlier. Thanks!

Well it's a Budget M110 they skimped on the barrel to lower costs. It would be interesting to see how a $200-$300 premium barrel would perform in this rifle. Even with the base rifle cost of $1,500 adding $300 worth of premium barrel would still be under $2,000 for the build and you would have 2 barrel's. If you sold the PSA barrel for $200 that would bring the rifle cost with the new barrel down to $1,600 or so. There's just so many options available for the AR-10 that you can really go in any direction here.
@Borderline5440 go shop around for AR-10 barrels and see what you can find for what price. Even if you had to reduce the price down to $100 that's still better than a complete loss.
The PSA rifle comes with various barrel options, it happens the one they have here is the cheapest base 4150cv barrel, but they have AR10's available with a 416R barrel which tends to be more accurate, but they also have other options such as a Faxon Match barrel and they have also had FN CHF CL barrels for a few years also.. I have PSA's cheapest AK, the GF3 and I can shoot anywhere from 2-4MOA groups with just cheap Russian steel cased Barnaul ammo, and that is a freaking AK shooting really cheap 7.62X39 steel cased stuff.. I'm not a good shooter at all when it comes to experience, barely shoot it and don't practice often, but when I first bought the PSA AK it only had Irons on it and believe it or not they were right on out of the box and the front sight was not canted at all, which is common with AK'S, but anyway I put 4inch shotgun clays on the berm at a 100 yard range , so it would be likely about 110 yards out and I was consistently hitting the 4in clays with Irons, and that was the first time I had shot the gun and before that I had not touched a rifle in several years other than an occasional AR and a Ruger 10/22, so again I'm certainly not what is considered a "good" shot.. Perhaps I just got lucky and got a really good example PSA budget base model AK $600? Oh and it has been 100% reliable so far with about 800 rounds fired through it.. The only issue I ever had was ammo related with cheap Tula hard primers not igniting in a handful of rounds..
I think a lot of guns are pretty accurate, the issue becomes how long can you shoot it before the barrel is bad or it's not made well and gets hot. I think the basic rifles a guy may use to shoot a groundhog should be something like this though.
I have a 20 inch non-110 stainless barrel from PSA and it really likes federal 175 SMK. Got pretty outstanding results last time i took it out with that stuff. Some certainly sub MOA but not all of them.
Ive had my PSA billet .308 "M110" for a year now. Have shot around a dozen different brands and weighs. My rifle enjoys 168gr. Shoots under 2MOA. The Hornady Black 168gr. holds a sweet spot of .8 - 1.2 MOA
I think in one group you had a flier, and it would be interesting with Nosler to have you just shoot 10 groups. On the 150gr, is it possible that the rifle is over gassed? Great video as always, very interesting.
My PSA 308 was very picky about what it liked. Hornady Match 178 would just about keep its shots touching at 100 yards. Everything else was better described as a shotgun pattern rather than a group. The only handload that I could get to shoot as well as the Hornady match was the Nosler Accubond LR 190 gr.
That rifle needs to shoot 110-168grain Ammo “if” it has a 1/10 twist, your scars , and other sniper rifles have a 1/12 twist for that heavy grain 175 -178 grain stuff, how I found this out was I have and old savage 110 tactical in 308 with a 1/10 twist barrel , and it shoots sun moa @ 100-500 yds with hornady 168 grain , it doesn’t shoot the 175-178 grain stuff as good. Several years ago I purchased a FN SPR A5M bolt action, it had the 1/12 twist barrel , it’s not as accurate as the savage I still have but it did like that 175 grain and the 178 grain stuff better. Ok now let’s talk AR’s I have a gen one sig 716 patrol with a rra trigger in it and that rifle has a 1/10 twist barrel, that gun will shoot M80 ball 147-150 grain fmj with sub MOA accuracy, I was really shocked it’s so accurate with a 16” barrel, maybe I have one that built on a Sunday, it would be cool for y’all to test those lol
My PA-10 in 308 with a 20 inch barrel shoots just under 2 moa with 165 gr rem core lokt tipped. I love the thing, I've had no malfunctions except two I D 10 T Errors.
I got my PSA M110 "clone" this past summer and tried quite a few 308 factory ammos through it. Using Hornady group calculator for best 9/10 shots for a group at 100y. It liked Federal GMM 175gr OTM at 1.3moa. The GMM 175gr SMK and 168gr SMK were both 1.7moa. AAC 175gr SMK was about 1.9moa It didnt like Black Hills 168gr (2.5moa) Hornady 178gr (3moa), Fiochii 168gr (3moa) AAC 147grain was close to a 4" group at 100y. I took it out to distance and walked it out to 600yards pretty well. Past that i need more practice for wind and spotting rounds. But so far its been a great gun.
@9HoleReviews Close enough for Government work. Other reviews have had decent to good groups with Federal GMM. I know Federal has always been the standard for factory ammo, but I wonder if there's more to it, such as the PSA barrel process. And I'm satisfied with GMM getting my rifle close to an actual 110 in groups.
While not the PSA m110, I had multiple people tell me that the HK 416 I was buying would never print decent groups or run any "non-military" ammo well. A few 1"-.72 moa groups later, turns out guns are not all made the same lol. It is crazy how a slightly different barrel shape, nut, or even muzzle device / suppressor can change the entire shooting profile of a rifle.
My son has a PSA-10 complete lower and a PSA-10 complete upper with 20 inch stainless heavy barrel. These parts were bought separately, not a complete rifle. It shot shoots MOA or better and isn't super finicky about ammo. $179 lower and $399 upper. My Aero M5 likes 168s over 178s.
The biggest thing i took away from this test was that all the bullets had very similar design. 170ish grainers. I'm sure you guys are aware that rifles can like different ammo and bullet design has the biggest impact. So maybe throw in some 150s 168 and 180-200 next time
@@eriklambert3809 If you were to buy the full rifle with the intent to trash the factory barrel/bolt for new ones, it makes more sense to build a ground up gun with better parts like aero receivers
This shows why on all boxes of ammo. Besides weight and velocity being shown. They will need to include appropriate or approximate barrel twist rates are advised for this type of ammo.
I gotta say, although not anywhere near top tier, my PSA sr25ish PA65 GEN 3 I got about 3 years ago puts a handload with a few different charge weights (varget, nosler brass berger 175s) into .75" groups consistently. Of course I bedded the barrel in and tossed in a lantac match bolt carrier, but I dont know how much different that made.
I have a PSA PA10 not the M110 clone. Comes with a Giesele 2 stage trigger. It is the updated Gen 3 with adjustable gas block. I've put a bit over 200 rounds through it. It does recoil pretty hard which kind of surprised me. I had been wanting to get the Sabre M110 clone, but the forged and not the billet version.
I've got the 6.5 creedmoor version and it will print 1/2 inch groups with AAC match ammo. Every 6.5 creedmoor version I've seen have been very accurate.
You see that's the thing. He never tested with AAC ammo. I've heard the scientists that work in the lab at AAC have analyzed the exact chamber dimensions of the PSA rifles and have matched the powder charge and seating depth to have the perfect amount of jump according to their laboratory testing of barrel harmonics. You could see how poorly the Ball ammo did. I'm speculating here, but I would imagine with the right barrel tuner you could cut that group in half and it would be just as good as the KAC.
I think anyone buying one of these and expecting them to shoot like a good bolt gun in the group department is going to be sorely disappointed. However as a budget DMR that can get you hits on a man to 700 yards, it can work ok. Personally, I would save up more money and go for something like an LMT MWS, but to each his own.
Factory ammo is why i reload. My 556 PSA 18" nitride with nothing "expensive fancy" added is a dream. Harris bipod. Nikon 12x. Magpul furniture. I have the reduced power spring kit and the polished milspec trigger set. Nothing fancy. Even bad ammo is under 2". My reloads from 55 to 75 I can expect 1" or less. I've been very hesitant about getting an "AR10" variant...for this reason.
I was pretty interested in the 110 Sabre but after this.... YIKES!!! Try it again with a variety of hunting ammo, supposedly it's sub moa with that stuff!!
Both of my PSA Gen3 with 2 stage triggers needed their gas blocks adjusted seriously! 1 in 6.5 and 1 in .308. After adjusting the gas block the 6.5 is amazing. The .308 is ammo picky. It loves Wolf steel!!! Which frustrates me. It also loves Hornady Black the most. I have shot multiple 5 shot groups under a 1/2" moa with it. I had a 20 shot group at 1.25. They can do it but adjust thatbgas block to find the sweet spot!
I own a S&W AR-10 with Federal GMM 150gr will shoot 5/8 in moa , under 1 moa with Federal fusion 150gr I have free-floated handguard 18in barrelled deer slayer!
I have a Mega build with a JP Barrel that is very very good with anything from 165 grain on up. (Actually it's just really good with any long, boat tail bullet, honestly) It shoots better than I can. M80 ball, however? Almost just like what you see this PSA do. Shotgun patterns. Now, I have ANOTHER Mega with ANOTHER JP barrel...but it's 18 inch instead of 22 inch. It's the only difference. Shoots the same M80 ball into 2 inch groups with no problem. I feel like, with the flat based bullet and the 1/10 twist barrels that velocity seems to be a component of the issue.
Guys, that barrel is loose. Circle strings are the sign. Remove, lap , torque to 65ftlbs. The ball ammo is getting tipped on the ramps. Find some federal eagle ball and notice the far shorter coal, and the magic consistency that will bring.
I own and shoot the same rifle in the 6.5 creedmoor configuration and it shoots a million times better…it’s simply amazing how different the two calibers shoot…i have not seen one single example of the 308 version that comes even remotely close to the 6.5 version…wild
From my experience i've noticed, the PSA ar10 barrels hate 7.62x51 based ammo, especially m80 ball. For sone reason though, they love 308 based ball ammo. I've had the same experience with the match grade ammo out of my pa10. Just random groups with any 76251 ammo
I was thinking about getting the PSA M110, but switching the guts out and swapping for a better barrel as well. It would void their warranty, but that was just what I was thinking lol
This video made the same mistake that a million accuracy testing videos have made prior to it. You have to shoot a round or two of the next ammo in to the berm, then your 5-round group, to kind of re-season the barrel to the next projectile and powder type. Otherwise, you usually get first round flyers.
Since you're doing affordable stuff can you do the Mossberg Patriot night train. It is considered to be the most affordable long-range set up out of the box and I'd like to see a good display of how accurate it can be.
Seeing that PSA rifle make a 6inch plus group at 100 yds immediately reminded me a story when I was at the range, and someone I knew was having trouble hitting a reduced torso target at 200 using a PSA AR10 and ball ammo. That same day, me and one other managed to semi consistently hit the same target using our red dotted AR15's at the same distance also with ball ammo
Alot of that depends on the gun. With PMC Bronze 5.56 (korean surplus m193) my Hk Mr556 holds like 1.25moa 10 shot groups. Its insanely good for cheap ball. Sometimes you just luck out and find she prefers beer over champaign
@@nateh2652 For clarification, this is not me slandering PSA, but the reason I remember this is because at the time, I was a much more novice shooter and hitting out to 200 yds was impressive to me and I was very confused how a seemingly good DMR was having trouble hitting the same target, so Henry having a 6inch plus group helps me understand what I could've been seeing that day
@RyuTheAsian47 cheap is cheap. Psa makes good stuff, but understand the limitations. A quality barrel is #1 and these guys just dont have that. A ton of other folks are chiming in saying a quality barrel swap makes these things into beasts. Remember, its a 1.5k psa trying to replicate a 10k Knights.
@@nateh2652 because there comes a point where you're not paying for more quality but just the retard brand. thats all it is. 10k knights is not only fucking stupid youd be an idiot to actually shell out that kind of cash for a meh gun.
My SCAR 17 shoots 2 MOA with M80 ball (MagTech). So, I'm pretty dang happy that I didn't get a budget rifle. If that's what you can afford, that's great. But this should show that those who 💩 on higher end rifles are generally coping.
My PSA is doing identical performance to Henrys....you will get a average group (5 shot)..then a few unexplainable flyers...This happens regardless of the shooter.... stretch it out to a 10 shot group it gets worse... everything is tight... multiple vetted scopes....I believe it is the bore on these barrels...I bet they have tight and loose spots in them....thus not stabilizing the bullets very well.
Guys FYI we've decided after recording this video and the SCAR20 that we'll always shoot the 9-shot groups, really sorry they aren't here for these two but moving forward you'll see the high-round groups.

That factory barrel probably doesn't cost anywhere near $200, so getting $200 for it secondhand is wildly optimistic.
So my PSA M110 puts one hole all 5 rnds fired OR only one rnd hits the target & 4 complete fliers off the target 😂.
Ive had my PSA billet .308 "M110" for a year now. Have shot around a dozen different brands and weighs. My rifle enjoys 168gr. Shoots under 2MOA. The Hornady Black 168gr. holds a sweet spot of .8 - 1.2 MOA
I knew it was gonna be bad when the camera zoomed out for the ball group 😂
Good info, always first class, thanks
Clint Smith says pick the ammo you want to shoot and trade guns until you get one that shoots it well.
I do this except i cant bring myself to trade off guns😂
Clint Smith must have had a shitload of money.
My PA-10 in 308 with a 20 inch barrel shoots just under 2 moa with 165 gr rem core lokt tipped.
I love the thing, I've had no malfunctions except two I D 10 T Errors.
GREAT stuff guys.
Going for that iconic smiley face from Lethal Weapon with the 2nd group, huh? ;)
That skeptical Asian Dad face at :30 had me rolling
New cast!🎉🎉
I got my PSA M110 "clone" this past summer and tried quite a few 308 factory ammos through it. Using Hornady group calculator for best 9/10 shots for a group at 100y.
It liked Federal GMM 175gr OTM at 1.3moa. The GMM 175gr SMK and 168gr SMK were both 1.7moa.
AAC 175gr SMK was about 1.9moa
It didnt like Black Hills 168gr (2.5moa) Hornady 178gr (3moa), Fiochii 168gr (3moa)
AAC 147grain was close to a 4" group at 100y.
I took it out to distance and walked it out to 600yards pretty well. Past that i need more practice for wind and spotting rounds. But so far its been a great gun.
so pretty close to what we're seeing
@9HoleReviews Close enough for Government work. Other reviews have had decent to good groups with Federal GMM. I know Federal has always been the standard for factory ammo, but I wonder if there's more to it, such as the PSA barrel process. And I'm satisfied with GMM getting my rifle close to an actual 110 in groups.
Nice smile face print on that second group! 😂
The 9 Hole-Uncle Roger collab is gonna be sick!
That's an AK's grouping 😂 based as always Henry, never change.
So maybe throw in some 150s 168 and 180-200 next time
168 maybe, but this is in appropriate to shoot 200's, also the is not a common projectile for LR applications with 7.62 NATO
I’ve always wanted an M110 for 1500 this is definitely going into the safe.
Worth the $?
After watching...no.
Well, depends. Just have to factor in a barrel and bolt. You can still do 2 of these with barrels and setup for cheaper than the Scar20
This is also the billet version and not the forged. Forged has the forward assist.
@@eriklambert3809 If you were to buy the full rifle with the intent to trash the factory barrel/bolt for new ones, it makes more sense to build a ground up gun with better parts like aero receivers
You guys absolutely rock
This shows why on all boxes of ammo. Besides weight and velocity being shown. They will need to include appropriate or approximate barrel twist rates are advised for this type of ammo.
That ball ammo shooting is still better group then the upper I got off of delta team tactical with match grade ammo through it
I gotta say, although not anywhere near top tier, my PSA sr25ish PA65 GEN 3 I got about 3 years ago puts a handload with a few different charge weights (varget, nosler brass berger 175s) into .75" groups consistently. Of course I bedded the barrel in and tossed in a lantac match bolt carrier, but I dont know how much different that made.
pretty sure barrel twist is for 168 grain ammo. My POF shoots dime size groups with 168 and it opens up if I go down to 150grain.
Nice Seamaster, Henry! 👍
My reactions was about the same with ball ammo, but there is that some, time, rifle, will be able to just do just right
I've got the 6.5 creedmoor version and it will print 1/2 inch groups with AAC match ammo.
Loves 168 gr. OTMs also they come in with the gas turned up
Psa has the armalite M153GN18 on sale for 999$ you should get it and do a video on that rifle I absolutely love mine it's my favorite I have
Day one of demanding Josh's reactions as a little inset in every one of these videos moving forward.
When he said " the best" i damn near fell out my seat😂
I made the exact same face at the exact same time as Josh with that second shot. LOL
Oh my, that Ball grouping
Man, that Last group.... it just hurt LoL
It's all about the barrel. My Aero M5 with a Lilja barrel holds half inch groups with my hand loads.
It's the same thing Colt did with the AR15a4 clone and they charged a lot of money for none clone .
I no fucking joke clicked on to your profile to comment asking for y’all to review one of these.
Guys, that barrel is loose. Circle strings are the sign. Remove, lap , torque to 65ftlbs. The ball ammo is getting tipped on the ramps. Find some federal eagle ball and notice the far shorter coal, and the magic consistency that will bring.
Love your KAK grip
I own and shoot the same rifle in the 6.5 creedmoor configuration and it shoots a million times better…it’s simply amazing how different the two calibers shoot…i have not seen one single example of the 308 version that comes even remotely close to the 6.5 version…wild
Haha minute of TORSO! GEEEEZ
That would lead me to believe the barrel is out of spec. It probably shoots flat based bullets better.
I get sub moa out of 175 grain sierra match kings (hpbt). Already killed 2 hoga with this rifle, shits great.
Need to get an SRCartel gas block so you can run the M110 suppressor
I was thinking about getting the PSA M110, but switching the guts out and swapping for a better barrel as well. It would void their warranty, but that was just what I was thinking lol
Dear Josh: Hornady is not "Hornaday" 😝
thx for the video
Thanks for saving my money.
These kinds of results make me want to remove the barrel, accurize the upper, reinstall the barrel with proper torque specs, and regroup.
2nd Ranger Battalion Spec-4 Mafia ready to learn with my coffee , German apple pancakes and hangover.
🫡 happy R&R from wednesday strip club night.
Henry's fried rice doesn't cut the mustard, bring on Uncle Roger to lay down some sub moa fried rice!
Try some Federal 150 gr soft points(blue box), that stuff shoots amazingly well from many rifles.
That thing groups exactly like my Bergara 20”. The only ammo I’ve found that shoots under a minute is the s&b 168 otm, or hand loads
