How exciting it was to head off to the Honda dealership to get a Civic Type R. Standing next to it looking. Eyes wide nostrils flaring. Imagining myself tearing down the highway at breakneck speeds. Weaving in and out of traffic. Completely untouchable. Then the sound of the record scratch as my wife says. "We're not buying that. Just so you know." I drove us home in a new sport touring hatchback. It's ok. I guess.
I loved the comment at the end about enjoying driving the type R as much as or even more than your Lamborghini. That speaks volumes to the engagement this car provides. Thanks for the thorough buyer's guide.
It’s certainly a fun car! Many circumstances I’d rather be in the TypeR over the Lambo. Just did a 300 mile trip today to the mountains for a charity event. Glad I took the type r for what we did. And I had a blast!
Have had my rallye red FL5 since April 2023. AWE touring exhaust, PRL intake, intercooler and rear motor mount, RV6 Dp, Phearable Stage 2 tune, swift springs, 15mm bonos spacers, honda forged wheels. Thing is SO much fckn fun to drive. Will never get rid of it honestly
I've considered getting this, but even with good credit I was given a 7.25 interest rate. I'm not paying 11k in interest on top of the price of the car.
Check ur local credit union or even the dealer will sometimes give u a good interest since they are they ones that are going to pocket the interest anyway.
Got my 2025 FL5 Championship White with only 5 miles for $200 less than MSRP. Put 30K and financed the rest through Honda finance at 5.34% (my FICO score is 791). My monthly payments is around 400. My insurance is only 60 a month, full coverage.
I've done quite a few mods already. Check out our videos in the Type-R playlist. We also cary plenty of Type-R parts on our website. www.brosfourrspeed.com
Great Vid. FL5 is def a joy to drive.. I also have a 24 Champ White with AWE-Touring exhaust, HR Spacers/Springs. I have had mine since June and clocked in a whopping 520 miles thus far- lol. Got mine new under MSRP so deals can be had out there if you look and are patient.
@BrosFOURRSpeed so is a pdk Porsche gt3 rs is meant for the corners. Yhe automatic GRC will leave the Honda at the track also.just show how much having a manual in cars still is a bad thing please. Hopefully Honda comes out with an automatic and put a nail in the coffin for slow manuals.

Jealous, we don't have the option to build and price in Canada. We can't even factory order them. Whatever Type R orders that the dealers get have already been allocated for (for the next 3 years). And we can't get em' in blue either.
Oh interesting. There’s really not many options tho to have a need to custom order. Really just paint color. I haven’t talked to our dealers about the brand new orders and if we can factory order. But here they pop up time to time
Almost traded my Sti in for the FK8. As I was sitting in the dealership looking over the numbers, then seeing the FK8 in the parking lot from the window with its monstrous styling, it made me back out. And the FL5 looks like it got stung by a bee. Plus, 300 hp in 2024 is pretty bad. They sell Camrys with just as much power
A Camry doesn’t drive like this. Power isn’t everything. These days if you want power just buy a used Tesla Model 3 for $19k. Character and fun is what the Type-R offers. Much better handling and cornering than the STI too. So if you like driving around turns it’d be a fun upgrade
@ Right, I was just pointing out how underwhelming 300hp feels now that every day commuters are also coming with 300hp. I instead bought a manual f80 m3 and found that to be a good fit for me at the time, still plenty of fun and room for kids in the back. Plus tuning it on e85 pushed it to almost 600 whp, and it’s not an eyesore to look at lol
@@cokemachine62590 Nice! That’s a great way to go! Honestly people buying any 4 cylinder car for ‘speed’ doesn’t make sense to me. Plenty of faster cars out there for similar money. TypeR is a fun toy that’s just a blast to take turns in and super practical when needed. I can see an M3 coming to the garage some day. Great cars and plenty of power potential
Now maybe, not 1.5 years ago before everyone was stressing about 30-50% grocery price increases along with everything else you have to buy. Short of a good equity trade-in or you're outright rich, even 45k is a moon shot for most people (50k out the door). Not a big deal if you also have a RS3 and something else too. Don;t get me wrong, I'd also like to have 200k worth of cars. I just don't want to have to live in them, which I would. And then you can't just willy nilly leave it in a sketch parking lot. Everyone understands why you don't see 200k cars parked wherever. Now Type Rs get to enjoy the same potential theft/spite damage. Point being, if you get a said low production, cool car that everyone likes, also have a shit box to drive and park when even remotely concerned about the area. Old Honda Elements are the shit for that. Practical too.
ok? I don't park this in 'sketchy' places. But it's nice to go to the regular grocery store and not have to worry about it in the parking lot like I would my Gallardo. However yes inflation has gone crazy the last 4 years and prices went through the roof over the last 4 years. Should all change soon. But in today's market $45k is an average price for a new car and realistically not anything hard to afford on any middle class salary. People just waste their money on so many other things. Like eating out every meal. So anyone could afford this car and the Type-R offers so much fun and use for an affordable price. This video had nothing to do with telling people they should have $200k in cars. I run a business around my cars, so I'm not your typical car buyer. But anyone can afford this car, just depends on what they spend their money on
lol make it happen! Crypto might skyrocket even more though the next 4 years. So could be a good investment to hold for a few more years before cashing out ;)
Probably just depends on what buyers want. These are a blast. But they lack refinements. So I could see people buying these more like a sportsacr where they have it a few years and then move on. This is a fun car to rip on but if you 99% of the time daily drive it, a Golf R would be a more upscale car. So people probably buy these as a toy rather then a long term daily
Well it holds value so it's not like you're actually spending money. You are just placing money in the car and then getting almost all of it back when you sell it. So what would you spend $45k on?
