I own a championship white Type R. It’s one of the best driving cars out there. And it’s a pleasure driving it as a daily driver. Well done Honda, you did it again.
I’ll park it beside my 2014 civic if i won the lottery. Too bad they don’t sell civic or accord in norway anymore. I’ve owned 5 hondas. 3 civics, 2 accords and one crv. All great cars! I’ve owned a corolla hybrid, sold it, and went back to a civic with the 1.8 petrol and manual gearbox. A much better car to drive, just because of the gearbox and the way it handles. I will argue that Honda has always been masters of manual gearboxes. They are all very crispy and got that good mechanical click when you change gears, and never a miss when downshifting.
Nice review! I have been trying to find a fun car to replace my Cadillac CTS-V wagon, and the Type R is one of the top 3 on my list. I test drove one and I had the biggest grin while slicing through turns, and it's awesome how the back end kicks out on some turns (I believe Honda applies rear brakes to do this). The 8Y Audi RS3 (only automatic) and Cadillac CT4V Blackwing are also on my list, more powerful but I swear the Type R was the most fun.
Cadillac does not have a big footing i Europe unfortunately so no dealership network. Drove the previous CTS-V with the C7 Z06 engine. Loved it. I do think the new CT4V is a very underrated car. The RS3 is softer than the FL5, but all of these 3 cars offer a very different setup. FWD, AWD and RWD, so it comes to preference and what you will use it for
I think it is the best modern civic type R yet, but the FK8 was/is amazing. The looks is the only thing that made it not liked by everyone. Have seriously thought about buying one
Correction. The price is similar. The difference is your currency that has a lower value for that reason you need more to buy the same stuff. Is called inflation. $38K of 2019 is similar to $48K of today.
@@HonestCarReviews Actually, no hothatches are selling well here. They are all getting too expensive, the Golfs gti's where real succes cars here, not anymore since the mk8. Like i said, prices are getting out of hand. People react with their wallets, and i like that. VW has to close factory's, if that isnt a wake up call...
@van_der_lindeDA Mate I have driven one. And yeh I have a Lexus LC 500. 350 IS 2022 And 6 other cars. Don't judge the book by its cover. Not saying Honda is not good. Its way too expensive for what it is. Everyone has different tastes mate.

Not saying Honda is not good Its way to expensive for what you get. I m a car enthusiast so I know a good car when I see one.
@pt6944 and all the cars you just mentioned will get destroyed by this civic on a B road....so why then is it over priced? Of overrated? Plus I think alot of people who buy Type Rs have car enthusiam in them, so what you saying is we don't have but you have? 🤣 come on....

I own a boost blue FL5 and the car is great ! The only thing I have to complain about is interior rattles from the plastic

But all you need is some padding to get rid of noise . I’ve just been lazy to do it myself

I have this in white and a GT4. I believe both are the best cars in their categories.

fl5 owner here. It's a really good car, I love it. but it doesn't have that old school Honda roar to it. It's almost too good
Seems the first thing owners do when they get it is to put a new exhaust on it

I had a 981 Cayman S and just drove a Civic type R. I had a friggin blast. Probably the most fun Ive had in a car in a long time.

It is overpriced in 2024. That’s why the FK8 will always be better. Virtually same performance and it was significantly cheaper when first released.

Car is roughly the same price as the gen 2 GR Yaris. What hot hatch sells well in Belgium?
