Spanish Teacher Killer Willard Miller Speaks Before Receiving Prison Sentence

  • The teen who admitted to killing his Spanish teacher over a bad grade spoke in court and apologized before he was sentenced for the crime. “I know what I did was wrong,” Willard Miller said. “I’m realizing just the magnitude of my actions and I know it was wrong, I knew it was wrong.” In Nov. 2021, Miller, along with his co-defendant Jeremy Goodale, beat Nohema Graber to death with a baseball bat in an Iowa park. “I don’t want to be institutionalized," Miller concluded. “I look forward to getting through this.”

    The family of Nohema Graber are so strong. It would have been so difficult for me not to yell out at him that his apology is empty and void of any real emotions. He said he’s sorry from his heart - where was his heart when he and his friend were beating that poor woman to death with a bat. Not one time did his heart tell him to stop killing her

    He's clearly not honest when he is saying sorry to the victim's family while smirking, grinning, smiling and while forcing himself not to break out in evil laughter. No emotions, no tears, nothing, when he was "apologizing". The only tears that run down his face when the judge was about to sentence him. To summarize, he only felt sorry for himself.

Well I am glad he know it was wrong and is sorry and wants to take full responsibility. Full responsibility is sitting in prison ie institutionalized for the rest of your life.

    He would’ve been better off saying nothing. This wasn’t a sincere apology and it’s clear he’s only sorry that he was caught. He was half smiling for the majority of this “apology”. This makes his life sentence with 35 years until he’s up for parole seem much more appropriate. If his apology felt genuine, I might feel differently (and the judge might’ve felt the same way)

    The fact that this person didnt get life in prison without the possibility of parole, simply because hes too young for it to be mandatory, is the real failure if the justice system. People like this do not deserve freedom, they do not deserve life.

      He was 16 at the time of the crime. The Supreme Court has held life sentences without parole for minors to be unconstitutional. It’s unfortunate because that’s what he deserves. Lock him up, and throw away the key.
