I respect the intent of what the judge said, but I agree more with the officer that interviewed Paul. It was a twisted sense of "discipline" to get a child to "submit" to the parent's authority. Timothy was her "problem child" that was keeping her from her independent career goals. A nuisance of no value, that she deeply resented to the point of senseless torture and death. I think she ultimately would rather have him die and get on with her life, rather than enjoy the torture. She wanted FREEDOM! Paul was the child that willingly complied with her behavior - a "good boy", that craved her acceptance and love.

Did you notice he was overweight? I believe she caused eating disorders (or at least unhealthy relationships with food) in all 5 of her kids. Time will tell about Gabe. But I fear that he will turn out to be a Monster like his Mom. The way he was raised to believe he deserves special treatment and his brothers were "below" him even though he was younger. I also believe she had something to do with her husband's stroke. I hope they look into that as well.
She realizes it's over for herself . She knows her fate so no more of a reason to " act" . The women in prison will do a lot to her not just physically but emotionally..verbally everyday .

Prison rules and prisoners rights wouldn’t allow that unfortunately. I hear that women who murder their own children are treated as badly by other inmates in women’s prisons as men who do the same thing are in men’s prisons. Hopefully the guards will be looking the other way if that ever happens.

It’s not just people these days, they’ve been doing this for too many years, that’s why there’s such a thing as social services. With the advent of the internet, these stories are easily shared so it looks like it’s more of a modern thing.

I am a woman who was a loving teacher of young children for 28 years. I have a degree in Child and Human Development, and no criminal record whatsoever. I don't drink or smoke and I've never touched a drug. Yet I am unable to have children, and this evil monster was able to pump out at least THREE, and then goes on to abuse them, and tortures one to death. Life is unfair.
I know it’s not the same, but at least give yourself credit for enriching the lives of all the children for whom you lovingly taught and inspired for the past 28 yrs. You may not have your own children, but you have touched the hearts of so many students to develop a firm foundation towards their future. I thank God for this judge!!! He's the most compassionate judge I've ever seen. He went above and beyond his job with reading over the 2,000 text messages 3 different times but also spoke on behalf of everyone who watched this horrific trial. I can't thank you enough Judge Kacel and God Bless you ❤
GOD, if they were as divine as described, would not have let that happen to Timothy in the first place. Do not THANK God for anything that is even remotely connected to the torture and murder of an innocent child. Instead, ask God where he was when Timothy needed him most. I am kind of "happy" that I am not the only one thinking that. What future for him ? How his life would have been ? Cannot live with that. I say that to myself for Tesslynn's Ocull case too. This girl was raped just 3 years old so violently her genitalia was literally destroyed. Death seemed to be the only escape for these poor kind of souls. I have many examples of survivors of abuse who still struggle. Lauren Kavanaugh (she became an abuser), Victoria and Christopher spry (Victoria killed herself). Well.. how can you live normally... I cant imagine the sadness Timothy must have felt to woke up every f mornings in this tinu room. Just escaped from his dreams to woke up to that horrible reality.. At least, now, timothy is sleeping eternally. No more fear. No more hunger. I am ashamed to say that I am happy hes at peace and not living anymore knowing what he endured.

I burst into tears, when he showed the picture and explained he didnt allow evidence photos, to be shown to the public for Timothys sake, so the world wouldnt remember him like that. And i know the worst punishment he gave her was looking her in the eyes and saying "Timothy won, you lost. The world knows what you are now" Such a heartbreaking case. May his soul rest

I don't want to start an argument or anything I just want to leave an idea out there and hope it means something to other people but the biggest problem we as a society face is treating children like adults. Whether it's someone trying to date a teenager or a parent abusing them it all comes from a place of being able to convince yourself that the child you're talking to is just as mentally capable as yourself and holding them to that standard. I'm not trying to justify anyone that's abused a child but I do want other people to look inside and think about what they get mad at children for and think about how reasonable it is for a child to know any better.
I couldn't imagine treating an animal that way, let alone a child with special needs. This was beyond heartbreaking. May this sweet boy rest in peace 🕊️

This case is so upsetting and horrific. I just can't wrap my head around how a mother can do this to her own flesh and blood. They may have gone to jail but that's not enough. If only they could be tortured and made to endure everything that Timothy had to go through. It breaks my heart that nobody else knew what was going on to help Timothy. They are both monsters and deserve to rot in prison.
What people fail to realize that a proportion of the population is mentally incapable of supporting a normal society. This is an illness that is destroying our world everywhere. A large group of people think that people can be changed, modified, treated or whatever but these people will be with us always. The greater the population the more visible these sick individuals become.

You know, I think being not able to have children makes one more empathetic to these kind of situations and I feel so much for women who can't (I was so blessed to have one but can't have more so feel the pain bit know how lucky I am). So many women who deserve to be mums and can't - yet people like this, breed prolifically and hate their kids, they DON'T deserve the absolute blessing of children - special needs or not!
Even her lawyer couldn't stand to look or talk to her. He was 100% there out of obligation. I love that photo of Timothy. What's sad is there is no healthy photo of him as a teenager. :(
Nobody loved him enough to take his photo. It’s just awful. His dad kicked him out the day his brother turned 18 (kicked him out too), saying he “couldn’t handle” Timothy anymore. The timing tells me that it was more that he saw his chance to get rid of both of them when Paul turned 18 and be done with them entirely. Sent Timothy to someone who had never and would never love him. Who tortured him for the rest of his sad short life. What a beautiful smile that sweet boy had too.
I’ve tried a lot of cases in front of a lot of judges and I like this judge from this video. I like that he really paid attention to the trial, reviewed the evidence after the guilty verdict, and thought about everything thoroughly before he made his decision. I’m defense counsel but attorneys can’t ask for more than the judge actually taking the case seriously and thinking through their decisions. Respect to Judge Kacel.
Except that he shouldn’t be referencing evidence that was not admitted at trial (portions of the text messages that weren’t introduced). You can’t do that even at sentencing.

I've been a Paramedic for 30 years and my wife has been a RN in the ER for 30 years as well. We've taken care of countless children as if they were our own. We have never had children, not from a lack of trying. 23 years later still married and still no children. We would have loved to have these two beautiful children running around our house. Being happy and free. And filling them with loved affection and a caring family and home.

There are so many resources for parents of special needs children. She didnt want help, she was happy to have a vulnerable and helpless target. Its unfathomable. This judge said what we are all feeling. I'm glad he was so honest. It was powerful.

How many children at these moment are being abused like this and nobody does anything? My husband was beaten everyday for 18 years by his dad and his mother was k with it. I was a court reporter in the criminal court system in San Diego. I lasted about a year. I was too sensitive for the criminal courts. takes a special person to do this work.

I thank God for this judge!!! He's the most compassionate judge I've ever seen. He went above and beyond his job with reading over the 2,000 text messages 3 different times but also spoke on behalf of everyone who watched this horrific trial. I can't thank you enough Judge Kacel and God Bless you ❤
GOD, if they were as divine as described, would not have let that happen to Timothy in the first place. Do not THANK God for anything that is even remotely connected to the torture and murder of an innocent child. Instead, ask God where he was when Timothy needed him most. Ask him, how DARE he allow this most heinous abuse to be inflicted on a poor mentally disabled child. Expect more from God if you are going to worship him.

I don't want to start an argument or anything I just want to leave an idea out there and hope it means something to other people but the biggest problem we as a society face is treating children like adults. Whether it's someone trying to date a teenager or a parent abusing them it all comes from a place of being able to convince yourself that the child you're talking to is just as mentally capable as yourself and holding them to that standard. I'm not trying to justify anyone that's abused a child but I do want other people to look inside and think about what they get mad at children for and think about how reasonable it is for a child to know any better.

This case is so upsetting and horrific. I just can't wrap my head around how a mother can do this to her own flesh and blood. They may have gone to jail but that's not enough. Nobody loved him enough to take his photo. It’s just awful. His dad kicked him out the day his brother turned 18 (kicked him out too), saying he “couldn’t handle” Timothy anymore. The timing tells me that it was more that he saw his chance to get rid of both of them when Paul turned 18 and be done with them entirely. Sent Timothy to someone who had never and would never love him. Who tortured him for the rest of his sad short life. What a beautiful smile that sweet boy had too.
Very sad what happened to him she could have put him in a nursing home for the disabled. Somebody would have helped him.
I’ve tried a lot of cases in front of a lot of judges and I like this judge from this video. I like that he really paid attention to the trial, reviewed the evidence after the guilty verdict, and thought about everything thoroughly before he made his decision. I’m defense counsel but attorneys can’t ask for more than the judge actually taking the case seriously and thinking through their decisions. Respect to Judge Kacel.
Except that he shouldn’t be referencing evidence that was not admitted at trial (portions of the text messages that weren’t introduced). You can’t do that even at sentencing.

I've been a Paramedic for 30 years and my wife has been a RN in the ER for 30 years as well. We've taken care of countless children as if they were our own. We have never had children, not from a lack of trying. 23 years later still married and still no children. We would have loved to have these two beautiful children running around our house. Being happy and free. And filling them with loved affection and a caring family and home.

There are so many resources for parents of special needs children. She didnt want help, she was happy to have a vulnerable and helpless target. Its unfathomable. This judge said what we are all feeling. I'm glad he was so honest. It was powerful.

How many children at these moment are being abused like this and nobody does anything? My husband was beaten everyday for 18 years by his dad and his mother was k with it. Too much evil in this world. Children should be able to sue their parents if they survive child abuse and send them to prison because the scars can’t be erased 😢

His wife divorced him, took his child, married a rich guy. At this point my husband was very mad at God for letting him live. I was a court reporter in the criminal court system in San Diego. I lasted about a year. I was too sensitive for the criminal courts. takes a special person to do this work.
