I struggle with the same thing with chatting with my clients! It’ll be such a vibe and we get carried away and it is so hard for me to lose focus sometimes! I try to move and talk at the same time!
I love the process of doing someone’s makeup and cause of this it slows me down.. I’ve been practicing on friends and have improved on my timing a lot! I have my second assessment interview with a wedding makeup place coming up and your tips are great recommendations and reminders! Loving all the videos too!
Girl me too! Some people just have such flawless features and it's almost addicting! If this helps, time yourself during each step of the applications (eyes, face, etc.) and see which part takes you the longest. Then just keep trying to make that window of time shorter :) Thanks for watching my videos! I'm glad they've helped you :)
Yay! I always love bridal trials :) Keep in mind that bridal trials normally do take a little bit longer than the actual wedding day applications since you have to consult in depth with your clients. Also, thank you for following me on Instagram! :)
Yes, talking and working is one of the things I've constantly had to work on as well! lol I'm so glad you've been loving all of the videos! I just made an updated video for this on my channel if you wanted to check it out. Here is the link: th-cam.com/video/SLXLgnloSk8/w-d-xo.html
Wonderful tip I had a client's mom ask me if she was ready like 10x it was really stressful 😅 . And this organization method is literally a life saver. Do you have different sets for each customer being like 3 or more people or do you clean in between? I'm considering getting a make-up brush washer!
Being social and talking to your client is something I struggle with. I generally start a makeup asking about skin types. It feels like most people don’t put much effort or are knowledgeable about skincare. I often feel like I’m explaining what is best for their skin and leaving a ton recommendations. I don’t mind tailoring what I’m doing to each client but being a sales person pitching helpful skin practices does slow me down.
Pls I would like to know what u meant by foundation mixer? 2. Pls can u recommend what I can add to my dried foundation, cos I Left it open and it went a bit hard😢
You can mix different things into foundations to customize them (mixing with liquid highlighters, other foundations, etc). As far as the dried foundation, unfortunately there really isn’t anything you can do about. I’m so sorry that happened!
Hi there! I got them from Amazon! check out this video: th-cam.com/video/wDgzv_DJSto/w-d-xo.html The powder spray bottles start at 6:29 :) I also linked them in the description of the video as well.
Hi, you have amazing tips. I am a 17yr old teenager who does makeup on clients, things may get expensive for me as I work at a local restaurant. Do you have any tips for young teenage girls !
Hi there! That's amazing that you've started doing makeup so young :) I wish I would've started earlier in my life. No matter what age you are, all makeup artists pretty much start out the same way in their careers. I wasn't always at the stage that I am right now and wasn't able to have all of the expensive products. I started out with Maybelline foundations in my kit and just slowly started buying nicer products as I made more money. I still to this day have so much more learning and growing to do! Basically, my best advice to you would be to focus on building your clientele (I'm doing a video on it currently) and once your business starts taking off, you will be able to afford all the products/equipment that you want!
Hi i love watching your videos, can you please give me some tips. I have a client next year, it's a wedding, I have to travel by plane, I will do the bride, groom and the 10 ladies as part of entourage. It's my first time traveling by plane with my bag and rings light so I need your advice. Thanks!
Hi! To be honest, I've never traveled on a plane with my kit, but here are some tips that I've heard from other makeup artists: 1) Don't check your makeup kit! This insures nothing will get lost and it will all arrive to your destination safely (you may have to pay for an additional carry on for your light, but if you don't need to bring it - I wouldn't!). 2. Make sure you depot all your liquids into 3 oz containers (TSA requirement). 3. You may want to call the airline ahead of time and make sure they don't have any additional requirements. Once I traveled with a bunch of my own makeup and had to individually put all the items in Ziplock bags. Hopefully these things help! :)
@@julieruby wow thank you for taking the time to read and respond! I really appreciate it. Thanks you so much and yeah I'd better call the airline just to be sure. 😊 Take care, God bless ❤️
I normally take them after each app on the day of but I take a 50% deposit for the bride in advance to hold the date. Some artists invoice in advance though. This is completely up to you though! There’s no right or wrong way.
@@broadwaygenius I actually used them after I put the powder into the containers in my depotting video :) it’s up on my channel if you wanted to see how they work!!
I'm so glad these helped! Also, don't try to push yourself! I would say anywhere between 40-45 minutes is a happy medium! Also, I made a 2 part updated video as this one is over 2 years old now! I'll link them for you: Part 1: th-cam.com/video/SLXLgnloSk8/w-d-xo.html Part 2: th-cam.com/video/AqqaTxpUgjw/w-d-xo.html
I found it SO hard to multi task & concentrate while making small talk. I’m trying to get my time down to 1 hour but it’s so hard! I usually take an hour and half 😅
Multi tasking is really hard! It’s one of the last skills that makeup artists master. Don’t beat yourself up about it.. it took me a while to get quicker with this!

Hi I just uploaded a video recently over the foundations & concealers in my kit!
Thank you for these videos! They are a huge help to hear the experiences and tips of another makeup artist. You’ve been a help for me!
Aww thank you so much! It’s so great to hear these videos have helped you out ❤️ Is there any videos you’d like to see in the future?

what do you have your powders depotted in??
Hi which powders are you referring to? Also, my case looks nothing like this anymore as this video is about 3 years old now.

When should you take payments for the make up. Before you start or after.

What are the containers for powder?
They are the PET Spray Powder bottles from Amazon! :)
@@julieruby thanks! Do they work? Would you mind showing how to use them sometime?thanks again ♥️

Thank you so much for your tips! I still take 1 hour and a half to two hours 😩.. my goal is to last at least 35 min. Per makeup..

What do you do when you don’t have enough brushes and someone expects you to do another client last minute
I’ll bring a spot cleaner with me just in case but a lot of the times I’ll make sure to have extra sets of brushes :)
Omg, im a talkative person and struggle with that
For sure!! It’s finding that happy balance ❤️
I’m the same when it comes to talking to clients! 😭😭
Haha it’s so bad! Literally multitasking at its finest!
