    What do you guys think of the Dell XPS 13 Plus? Also, I put 0 graphs in this video. Did you find the flow to be better or should I keep using benchmarks.

    Totally form over function. Lack of physical delete/escape/function keys is big drawback for developers and admins. And plug in some headphones and a charger and you've got no ports left! Even Apple have had the sense to keep(/reinstate) the audio jack and function keys.

    • @tech_realm
      @tech_realm ปีที่แล้ว +4

      They didn't have enough space to pack in an up to 14 core Intel chip while cooling it in an ultra thin and light chassis so they had to make sacrifices i.e. the minimal port selection and the digital function row because they take up less space than physical keys.

      @TechRealm Um, the Asus ROG Flow x13 actually beats this Dell when both are at 35 watts and below, the Flow has an RTX 3050 Ti, and the port situation on the Flow x13 is FAR better. And the Flow x13 was on sale for $1000 on Black Friday. No reason to choose the Dell XPS ANYTHING.

    I agree. But I had to return it because of the heat. It gets too hot. You can barely hold it on your lap. And I noticed issues with the trackpad. Whenever it gets too hot, sometimes it doesn't register when you click. :( There was a recall for this specific model by Dell for some reason.

    • @tech_realm
      @tech_realm ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes I also noticed it got SOOOO hot when just using it for daily tasks. Plus my unit had several defects with the display. And also it made a really high pitched coil whine or something which was really sensitive to my ears. It hurt a lot and I decided to return and stray away.

    having only two ports is sad because the market is forcing everyone to bring dongle clutter with them, like that is supposed to be normal inconvenience now. it's one more thing to bring with you in addition to usb peripherals. and, 1 port is already occupied for the power adapter. and, since the remaining 1 port is left, that forces you to bring at least 1 form of some dongle hub to remedy the lack of anything.
    the ideal is a slightly thicker ultrabook for the sake of more ports.

    • @workingTchr

      It's like my headphones that have 3 visible (and very subtle) buttons and a swipe gesture control. From the outside it looks ultra-modern, but it's actually a lame design because you have to memorize a bunch of operations. I added written labels to each control. I would love to see some hacker-type solder in a few extra ports on this sleek device!

      @@shrini041. The most expensive Bluetooth headsets sound fidelity don't even come close to the cheapest Studio Monitor Headsets.
      2. As a sound engineer and developer I wear a pair for extended periods of time (4-6hours during a mixing session) having to worry about battery life is an ultra annoyance.
      3. The cheapest laptops have one, how much more a 1000$ premium device
      4. Even flipping Apple understands the need to keep it. Dells Pride is seriously getting to their head. When apple does it, the entire industry adapts, meaning working grade headsets will start becoming Bluetooth compatible, Dell can't do that.
      5. The latency is still abhorrent, especially as a sound engineer where every millisecond counts.
      6. It will still take 3-5 years for even the lowest fidelity sound monitor to become Bluetooth compatible, Oppo did show off a cool tech that may enable that.
      7. Price to performance of a Bluetooth headset to a wired one is still undefeatable.
      Any one of those reasons is a turn off for the reasonable man. If I want to use my Bluetooth headsets on my M1 MacBook Air, I can... If I want to use my wired headsets, I can.

The big thick keyboards from 2011 and earlier, those had nice clickey sounds. Look at what we've lost for the "quest for thin & light": comfortable keyboards, port selection, swapable batteries, and laptop durability. I can understand making laptops thin & light to a degree, but now it's just absurd. Outside of very specific circumstances, there's no need to make laptops this thin/fragile.

    Do not understand why people are always comparing Macbooks and Windows laptops. I am using XPS for years 13 and 15 inch (currently 15 9510 after switching from 13) and have m1 air (due the work I do, I have to have both) and I barely use Macbook. Its all about what you prefer...

    i use to own several dell XPS laptops, they all needed warranty work. from failed screens to motherboards to failed GPU chips to broken keyboards, fortunately i bought the laptops through my university and they included 3 years of additional warranty.
    I HIGHLY recommend the extended warranty if you plan on purchasing a DELL.
    but then again, i should have know better, cause when i was in highschool i was a computer tech and i remember working on mostly dell computers, i thought it was just cause it was a popular brand, nope, dell uses the CHAEAPEST parts they can find...

    My advice for anyone who wants to use this for any video editing: Stay way. I know, it's the Plus, and it's 2022 model, but my XPS 13 9310 from about 2 years ago is absolutely the worst tech purchase I've ever made in my entire life. The performance on that thing was/is SO BAD. I assume the XPS Plus gets as hot and throttles as much with the tiny chassis. If you do even just basic video editing, go for an XPS 15 instead, or any Macbook.

    • @MatthewMoniz

    this is so bad, you so obviously are covering up the 2 major downsides of this machine and made it seem "fine", I guess that's for Dell or whoever your "link" sponsor's sake. The battery life on this machine is HORRIBLE on both the 3.5K and 4K version which last less than 6hr of use(sometimes only 5hr) where its Windows competitors are at least hitting 8hr+ and Apple's MBA and MBP can power 10-12hr of actual use (which doubles that of the XPS 13 plus). Yet the 1200p option is also UNACCEPTABLE for this class of machine being essentially a 16:10 version of 1080p. A 2.5K 1600p screen option is the sweet spot that dell should've went with because nobody can tell any difference beyond that at this screen size. And second of all, this thing runs HOT, and the fans are very much audible even with light use (browsing, office, etc). It feels like the 3.5k resolution and the P series processor are only there to show off without any real benefits because the thermal constraints and battery size compromised by a sleek design aren't remotely adequate to compensate those high specs. People are better off just buying the regular XPS 13 than this XPS 13 Plus thing which uses a U series processor that uses 40% less power and a 1200p display that gives you longer battery life(which is still average, but at least not unusably short), plus quieter fans, and it saves money.
    This is literally what every other reviewer's conclusion, you are an outlier on this one.

    This is likely one of the worst laptops of the year, along with the Dell XPS 9315. I mean, no ports, terrible touch bar, a touchpad which I tried and hate, and terrible heat. Add Dell's famous QC issues, and no way I would EVER buy ANY Dell XPS 13 again.
