Hey guys! We had a BUSY day filming the all-new Lexus TX this afternoon in Austin, Texas. However, Lexus also surprised us by bringing a full production version of the new for 2024 RX450h+! This is the hotly anticipated plug-in hybrid version of the new Lexus RX and you should expect to see them at your local Lexus dealer by the end of this year! We're hoping to get one for a full week at a later date so we can do more extensive range testing with it. Also, expect us to post two videos on the TX 500h and TX 550h+ on 10/11 at 9am EST! Stay tuned!!
I’m currently having a 2023 RX 350h luxury fully loaded besides the advanced park feature (Lexus won’t let you build but this is the only white exterior with macadamia semi analine that’s coming with mark levinson speaker and triple beam headlights all other options etc.. ) that will be built in 3 weeks. For another $7,000 should I buy this 450h+? Thanks in advance for your opinion
They need to stop betraying their customers with enform…GM, Subaru etc have provided free upgrades. I paid for expensive telematics for it to go completely obsolete! Fuck Lexus! I’ll never buy another one.
Ok, let me say this, fantastic videography!! I LOVE the lack of cuts and stitching of your video. So seemless. I appreciate how you flow with the information without all the hypeebole and unnecessary chatter. Straight and to the point. Thank you.
I have one, love it, it's a lot of price tag to bite off but it's way worth buying three cars in one, all electric, hybrid, and all gas. two thumbs up.
Honestly impressed with the range, I figured it would take a hit compared to the NX, but seems about par compared to it. I just hit 47 miles of EV range today with my NX, so I expect this could easily go north of 40.
That’s awesome 10 miles more then it’s rated for! I have a 2015 Lexus rx 450h( hybrid) and we love that vehicle! We were waiting for a rx or hylander phev, but I would love it if it had more range. We have a 2019 Chevy volt with a range of 53 miles of electric range and many times I have had 62 miles of range, and also the volt has a 7.2 kw inverter which can get a full charge with a level2 home charger in 2.3 hrs! The quicker charge has come in handy so many times! Home for an hr or 2 on the level 2 charger and almost have a full charge again, and of we go again on electric. I much prefer the reliability of toyota or lexus over the Chevy, but that extra range saves us a lot of money on fuel,it would be difficult to step down in range! I’m hoping the range will increase on the Lexus rx or hylander by the time we want to trade my lexus rx 450h🤞🤞
Yep. I’m avg 48 mpg as well. But I am just acquired this car about 2 weeks ago and driving mostly local in EV mode. Still awesome that I drove total 400+ miles and gas meter barely dipped 1/4.
I wanted a car like this, but then I discovered the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV that gets 38 miles of EV range on a full charge for half the price of this car. Mitsubishi's hybrid systems are just as reliable as Toyota's and I just fell in love with the ride and their AWD system. Literally the perfect compromise.
Very well said. The two most reliable vehicles I have owned in my life have been Mitsubishis. A 2004 Endeavor and a 2001 Montero Sport. The Endeavor had 176K when I traded in and ran excellent. The Montero Sport had 126K when I gave to my niece and she used it for many trouble free years.
@@da_committee Thanks!I believe it. Mitsubishi Motors is extremely underrated! The dealer actually gave me a lease deal so I can get the tax incentive which made me appreciate them even more because KIA and Toyota pretended not to know about it which was disappointing because I had a KIA Sorento for 9 years. But now I’ll be able to buy this top-trim Outlander for a total of $42k which is one of the best deals I think I may have received!
I thoroughly appreciate your review of the RX450h+. Alot of bang for a lot of bucks. But leasing it would be beneficial. Also that was a great color spec.

Great review! A lot to love about this car, however, this vehicle's powertrain is very outdated because there have been Hybrid Powertrains with these performance specifications for 10 years. When will manufactures design and manufacture an updated, modern, high performance Hybrid and stop pushing this 10 year old powertrain? This powertrain should have at least 75 miles of EV range and 50+ MPG, AND have 400 HP. The technology is there, but these manufactures are 10 years behind.
In fairness. Some top end versions of the 90s LS models had those controls on the side of the seat. A Throttle House esp. they drove old Lexus from 90s and it had those back then they found out too. so technically Lexus had that first on 90s LS models
I have a 2014 Lexus GS450H. My luxurious interior is so superior to 2024 Lexi models. I can get 37-40 mpg, top speed of 145 and the acceleration from 40-80 is EV fast. Trouble free. Definitely a keeper.
You have to be absolutely committed to charging these daily. They don't have a big range electrically but they are very good if you do the right thing or you'll end up driving 500kg of battery around on fuel & that's where it will head south.
The seat buttons on the front passenger seat is not from genesis or Hyundai, it's directly from their Japanese divisions like the crowns/Lexus in japan as they've had that feature since the 2000s
It amazes me how every crossover suv is revived by a little person to make the vehicle seem so much larger. He barely reaches the roof of the vehicle making it look like a full sized SUV
14:01 actually no, toyota had this passenger seat switch for years already and it’s actually Genesis that’s copying them. My Malaysian spec Toyota Camry had this feature since 2009
Just acquired this 2024 RX450H+. Quick question: Is it safe for battery life to charge it to 100% daily (near daily)? I know for pure EVs, it’s not recommended.
The LX600 is built like a tank as Redline reviews had mentioned earlier in their review of it. It is built in Japan, has the Lexus quality an refinement. Will Mazda CX-90 PHEV be a better buy than this? Although it gives around 26 miles of total EV range but total power generated is more (323hp) and torque is pretty good as well. I believe it is bigger than this car with good capacity in the third row as well. Price-wise, it starts at 50k and top-of-the-line is $60k, which is much cheaper than this Lexus.
Mazda is trying to become a premium brand but not considered as luxury brand. So comparing price is not a good debate. Compare Mazda with Toyota/Honda.
Can you use this RX 450h+ (plug-in) without plugging it in? If electricity gets too expensive (I live in CA, prices getting way high recently), can I use this plug-in RX like an RX 350h and never plug it in? Or will this degrade the battery over time.
The plug in version’s battery adds considerable weight and added load you’d be carrying around with you. If you don’t plug it in, you COULD certainly drive it like a normal hybrid, but you’d be paying a lot more for something you wouldn’t use. Best to consider a traditional hybrid option.
Primary Mission. I like that term. I think it will be good to add that to car reviews. Instead of just the 0 to 60 in the breaking and how fast does it go and how well is it stop, what is the primary mission of this vehicle and does it complete the mission.
@@naveenthemachine ok. I'll bite. You don't understand the value proposition of Lexus. What is the primary mission? Is it to be the fastest? Absolutely not. Is the primary mission of a Lexus to be the most luxurious? Again absolutely not. So what is the primary mission of Lexus. It's to have longevity that will last beyond the warranty and a high resale value and most importantly for me low maintenance cost. If you want faster we're luxurious go elsewhere. If you want to buy a car that will still be running as it did when you bought it 12 years from now that's Lexus. If you want a car for 2 or 3 years it doesn't matter which car you buy If you want a luxury car for 10 to 12 years you only have one choice. That would have been my answer 2 years ago. But nowadays upgraded all their vehicles to have turbos and hybrid engines Who the hell knows how long these damn cars are going to last
@@naveenthemachine The turbo will last about 100,000 mi and the battery should last about 12 years. Your average European car won't last that long. I don't know why you feel the need to debate If you don't like the car don't watch the video
@@TruthFLAevery other luxury car is naturally faster handles and rides better and they cost the same without needing to be a dedicated performance model. A Lincoln aviator that’s not a performance car is significantly faster and handles better in spite of the soft suspension Besides if you don’t care about decent performance you may as well just buy a rav4 Also every luxury brand has upped their reliability lately. And no one keeps cars for that long any way so reliability isn’t even a concern
beware, run flot tire on rx450 lux, nosy and bumpy when driving over roads with tar cracks and other defects. I voiced my concerns with Lexus , I was told to let air out tires. I purchase the 450 thinking that the 350 and 450 were the same, not aware about the run flat tires.
If the RX450h was priced Atleast 5k less you could make a case for it. But when the 500h is about the same price and the fact that the RAV4 prime only costs around 50k for the same powertrain, I can’t fathom paying 25k more for the basically the same thing.
@@naveenthemachine X5 and XC90 aren’t hybrid or plug-in hybrid for that matter. 70k for a RX450h Luxury model would slot right between the 350 Luxury and 500h F-sport in term of price.
Difference is of a better interior nd better exterior look. In any case none of these vehicles are available here in Ontario at most of the dealerships so it is almost a practical joke that these car manufacturers are playing on us, i.e. when you want to buy new they don't have much available and then when something is available they are charging more than MSRP.
@@huythai1222x5xDrive45e and xc90 recharge and xc60 recharge are phevs. And the xc60 is as roomy, cheaper, faster, better driving, better riding, more sophisticated double wishbone front, nicer interior better materials etc
I definitely here you on the difference in price. I really like the fit and finish quality, also the comfort of a Lexus and they are soooo quiet , but the price difference is tough to swallow for sure! I was lucky and was able to get a used 2015 rx 450 h with 28000 miles for 1/2 the price of new prior to Covid. We hope to drive it for many years to come!🤞
Hey 👋, Omen here... I was going to spray some Naveen repellent 😅😅 but I can see that many have beaten me to it. The RX is a great buy, no question. It's expensive but ppl what ISN'T NOWADAYS. Grow and accept it or continue to gripe. Either way, clearly it's still selling very well. Great review Redline, awaiting the GX review!! 👏👏
70k is expensive not arguing that But 70k for a nice RAV4 with 300hp and slow performance is unacceptable. You can get so many faster cars for the same price. X5 PHEV xc60 PHEV xc90 PHEV aviator grand touring grand Cherokee 4xe. Those are far superior in all aspects to this reskinned rav4
@@naveenthemachine exactly. He doesn’t understand that Lexus sucks to the point Jeep has passed them. and that’s a off road brand. It’s just so sad to see Lexus so far behind and the customers let them.
13:54 Passenger seat control is kind of taken directly from Genesis, Hyundai and Kia, lol, what a joke 😂, Lexus has offered this option since 2000 in the ls430.
Oooooooo….. a new plug-in hybrid from Lexus! Naveen is secretly watching this in the bathroom of his basement suite (of his mom & dads home) and having sexy-time while drooling on his Ipad! 🤣
It’s just a fancy rav4 prime LOL It costs 70k and you only get 300hp and the same 0-60 as a base ford Explorer 2.3 Good job humiliating yourself because you just proved that you don’t know anything
I think the 70K price tag is simply too high. You can pay 10K less for a Q5 PHEV, or 5-10K more for a X5 PHEV (which is a class above). Both IMO are better choices. Nice review though!
@@kevinlim2049If you plan to keep the car long enough when reliability is a concern, why choose a PHEV which is in general less reliable? Why not just buy RX350 which is $20k cheaper? How many years do you need to drive the 450 to save that 20K? At least 10 years!
Also, now BMW has discounts for all the models including the X5 50e, but Lexus dealers still sell with MSRP or even mark up all their models. After all, why not pick the X5 50e which has the same out-of-the-door price compared to this one.
The X5 eDrive50i in reality is about $90k comparably equipped to this RX 450h+. The BMW is also about the same size as this car, so they’re in the same class. The Q5 PHEV compares to the NX 450h+.
I would choose the RX500H F-Sport over this. You get the extra horsepower and performance, don’t have to plug it in (or add 220 volt to your garage) and you only sacrifice 5mpg over this variant. Oh… and no CVT on the RX500H F-Sport! The RX500H also has a spare tire…. I’m guessing this model loses the spare to make room for the extra battery.
They’re both great choices! We actually don’t mind the CVT in this car because you actually end up driving it in pure EV mode mostly so the car behaves and accelerates like a pure EV. When it does switch to Hybrid mode, it drives like a normal full hybrid vehicle. This car is a great compromise if you’re thinking about going fully electric, but don’t want to deal with the hassle of plugging in on longer road trips and enjoy double the real world range of pure EV’s.
The model y is so much better than this rav4. Build quality isn’t an issue as the doors or wheels haven’t fallen off. Not to mention the model y has better tech it’s so much faster handles better and it’s just got more wow factor
@@naveenthemachinebuilt quality is an issue, there’s steering wheels falling off on model y’s quality is horrible it has panel gaps everywhere not to mention the performance model is overpriced and is missing many features that this Lexus has, ventilated seats, 360 camera, apple car play, a gauge cluster, HUD, ambient lighting, digital review mirror, no rear cooled seats, no shade for the glass roof, no power rear seats, not kick sensor for trunk, not rear sun shades, and much more, not to also mention the model y isn’t luxury at all and the ride quality is horrendous, stop being delusional naveen
I’ve been in a model y, not even cool it’s basic and boring and the ride quality sucks it’s not even luxury, doesn’t even have ventilated seats at that price point 🤣 and the one we were in the screen froze and couldn’t do anything because no physical buttons 😐
Any Tesla seats are so firm that you will start backpain. These Luxury brands Lexus, BMW, MERC etc are miles better than Tesla. I have both and its my experience.
For some reason I keep thinking of the Genesis GV80 while watching this video... I so wish Genesis will one day come up with a hybrid/plug-in hybrid version of its GV80 and I will get the car in a heart beat. This Lexus RX450h+ is quite overpriced honestly.
Im a mechanic and i work with these cars and honestly these lexus will last you an easy 400’000+ Kilometers. Extreme luxury very fuel efficient and beautiful looks plus the quality is unbeatable. Litteraly you can’t beat toyota with quality
such a beautiful car, but the lexus trim logic keeps being dumb AF... rear wheel steering only on the f sport model, not available on the luxury, no air suspension in EU... sometimes i got the feeling they don't wanna sell cars -.- as dumb as the RX L with the previous generation 🤦🤦🤦
Just want to point one thing out. The passenger seat adjustment buttons on the side of the seat is not something that was taken from Hyundai / Genesis.. It's been in Lexus LS models available from 2003 to current... Don't give credit to a polished turd (Genesis) when its not even due.. They are no innovators in the P/S front seat adjustment buttons :)
Range figures makes zero sense. How is it possible for the RX and NX to have the same 37 miles of range? RX is slightly taller and wider, but more importantly it weighs an additional ~275lbs. Especially since the normal hybrid gets a few mpg less, I would assume the range would also be less at 35 or so...
Disappointed in the electric only range of 37 miles! The rav4 prime electric range is 42 miles with 18.1 kw battery ,same as the rx. You would think being a Lexus ,it should have a bigger battery with MORE range then Toyota vehicles!!! Because it’s a Lexus not a Toyota it should be upgraded to have a quicker charging capability of at least 7.2 kw or more! Worse range then a Toyota is definitely NOT acceptable!
Yes I agree but Lexus should have a higher range with quicker charging then Toyota. Because it’s a Lexus it should be a step above Toyota in in every way ,my opinion
Developing one drivetrain, including the battery, would be a cost & some degree packaging decision. So yes, the higher weight of the NX and RX reduce their range. I'm actually surprised that the quoted range on NX and RX are the same, given the weight difference. We get about 40 miles of EV on our NX 450h+. This range is sufficient for our use... all of our local driving is done on EV only.

Toyota has maybe the best green there is on automobiles.
Ehh I wouldn’t go that far
Porsche by far has the best green on their cars. The green on the taycan is far more impressive
Naveen@@naveenthemachine why don't u just rename urself to Naveenthegreenmacine, since ur profile picture is green and now u like to judged green

I think the Rav4 Prime is the way to go
I can see the cutout for tow hooks on that front bumper..which means this one was built in Japan.
Primary Mission. I like that term. I think it will be good to add that to car reviews. Instead of just the 0 to 60 in the breaking and how fast does it go and how well is it stop, what is the primary mission of this vehicle and does it complete the mission.
Every other luxury suv is faster and handles better while simultaneously being just as comfortable but a lot nicer inside
@@naveenthemachine and?
A Lincoln aviator that’s not a performance car is significantly faster and handles better in spite of the soft suspension
Besides if you don’t care about decent performance you may as well just buy a rav4
Also every luxury brand has upped their reliability lately. And no one keeps cars for that long any way so reliability isn’t even a concern
Black gloss plastic around the instrumentation panel looks cheap.
I just noticed that they have the front passenger memory seat which they didn’t offer in the 350 or 350h luxury
Doesn't sound, or move, like the ultimate electric luxury hybrid
Other luxury hybrids definitely sound better than this
don't think you'd want any noise coming from anything electric or luxury
I suspect this model is not available in Japan.
87 or 91 gas since its not turbo?
beware, run flot tire on rx450 lux, nosy and bumpy when driving over roads with tar cracks and other defects. I voiced my concerns with Lexus , I was told to let air out tires. I purchase the 450 thinking that the 350 and 450 were the same, not aware about the run flat tires.
Redline this car is very nice
If the RX450h was priced Atleast 5k less you could make a case for it. But when the 500h is about the same price and the fact that the RAV4 prime only costs around 50k for the same powertrain, I can’t fathom paying 25k more for the basically the same thing.
No even if it was 5k less you couldn’t justify it because that’s still in the same price range as an x5 or xc90
70k is expensive not arguing that
But 70k for a nice RAV4 with 300hp and slow performance is unacceptable. You can get so many faster cars for the same price. X5 PHEV xc60 PHEV xc90 PHEV aviator grand touring grand Cherokee 4xe. Those are far superior in all aspects to this reskinned rav4
@@naveenthemachine Do you play any other instrument? 🤣🤣

@@naveenthemachine exactly. He doesn’t understand that Lexus sucks to the point Jeep has passed them. and that’s a off road brand. It’s just so sad to see Lexus so far behind and the customers let them.
@@Natethegreat200c agreed. Lexus has become the new Infiniti / Kodak.
Hmm, I wonder why Lexus/Toyota won't quote the torque figure. Enquiring minds want to know.
I will go for Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, pioneer in plug in, best in awd system for half the prize for its premium trim, reliable and way cheaper!!!
13:54 Passenger seat control is kind of taken directly from Genesis, Hyundai and Kia, lol, what a joke 😂, Lexus has offered this option since 2000 in the ls430.
Can only get the rx450+ fully loaded in canada which is 90k $$ 🤯😢😫
And how much are the HEADACHE's Euro volvo or Korean Crap!
@donaldbanner2185 oh I agree I have 3 lexus right now the best cars..
Oooooooo….. a new plug-in hybrid from Lexus! Naveen is secretly watching this in the bathroom of his basement suite (of his mom & dads home) and having sexy-time while drooling on his Ipad! 🤣
It’s just a fancy rav4 prime LOL
It costs 70k and you only get 300hp and the same 0-60 as a base ford Explorer 2.3
Good job humiliating yourself because you just proved that you don’t know anything
TEST drive the new maserati ghibli modena q4 it is the most exhilarating midsize family sedan out there. It is unbelievable
The steering wheel controls are ridiculously bad.
Oh my! ❤
I think the 70K price tag is simply too high. You can pay 10K less for a Q5 PHEV, or 5-10K more for a X5 PHEV (which is a class above). Both IMO are better choices. Nice review though!
Lexus reliability versus German beauty. I'd rather have a Lexus RX than the German that won't leave stranded in the middle of nowhere.
@@kevinlim2049If you plan to keep the car long enough when reliability is a concern, why choose a PHEV which is in general less reliable? Why not just buy RX350 which is $20k cheaper? How many years do you need to drive the 450 to save that 20K? At least 10 years!
X5 depreciates half its value in 4 years. And no, it aint a class above. Its the same class and RX series outsells X5 by a landslide
This car is a great compromise if you’re thinking about going fully electric, but don’t want to deal with the hassle of plugging in on longer road trips and enjoy double the real world range of pure EV’s.
can you do a real review of the 2023 model y?
The TX has a pano too
You obviously don’t skip leg day, which is what I’m doing now to watch this review. 😜
For some reason I keep thinking of the Genesis GV80 while watching this video... I so wish Genesis will one day come up with a hybrid/plug-in hybrid version of its GV80 and I will get the car in a heart beat. This Lexus RX450h+ is quite overpriced honestly.
Where’s the spare tire?
Please review the new BMW X5 50E. It has a similar EV range and price.

Looking sharp in that green color. The Lexus.
Do you notice any negatives with a CVT? I’ve heard the Lexus CVT is different somehow than other cars.
"As you can see..."
such a beautiful car, but the lexus trim logic keeps being dumb AF... rear wheel steering only on the f sport model, not available on the luxury, no air suspension in EU... sometimes i got the feeling they don't wanna sell cars -.- as dumb as the RX L with the previous generation 🤦🤦🤦
Love the green color on this one!
The moment Lexus integrates google in their infotainment system like Honda I am dropping Honda and switching over instantly.
It's going to happen in 2026 that the rumor is with Toyota and Lexus are saying but we have to wait to see.
Genesis isn’t a polished turd. They’re the future and the next Lexus.
May as well go for bmw x5 or Mercedes gle
Agreed. I’d get them or a gv80 over any RX.
.....................And spend your LIFE in service or crying at $50,000 K loss in three years!
What the heck is the Atkinson cycle
It a more efficient way for a gas engine to work. The timing of the valve opening and closing yields better efficiency. Very common with hybrids.
Toyota usually underestimates, reports of mid 40s is usual
Yes I agree but Lexus should have a higher range with quicker charging then Toyota. Because it’s a Lexus it should be a step above Toyota in in every way ,my opinion
Weight is the factor here, you get luxury features that adds more weight.
These cars and the no spare tires are highkey pissing me off 🙄 smh
if this had massage seats, id need it
