      Yes it had no Protection mechanisms against battery damage, maybe intentionally by Samsung. If the device reached 100% by charging, it will drain the battery even if USB charger is connected and then by 95% recharge it to 100%. This cycle repeats every 20 minutes and imagine what happens over many nights

    I actually had to use my S6 again as my main phone back in 2021.
    I accidently broke my S20 Ultra and I wasn't able to get a new phone at the time, so my only option was to go back to my S6. It was kinda crazy using a 2015 flagship phone for modern times haha. It's software never updated since 2015, either. It's still running its original Android version and Touch UI. I'm surprised it was able to run some of the more intensive mobile games I was into. Though it was laggy and the phone got super hot lol.
    I eventually got an S22 Ultra a year later, but I still used the S6 as my work phone for another year. Then I finally decided to retire my S6 (again) earlier this year and replaced it with a Pixel to use as my new work phone.
    I gotta say, the S6 is by far the most durable phone I have ever used. I'm a clumsy guy and I've broken a lot of phones throughout the years (Note 3, S8, S9, S20 Ultra), but the S6 has withstood YEARS of my usage and STILL works today. I love this phone.

    It was the best software experience back then. But in 2021/2 I tried to set it up from scratch (after total reset) and it is extremely slow, maybe for many reasons including that the chipset has slowed down massively. Even included apps like the remote app have become very intrusive with ads. Not to mention the battery and the micro usb port that are weak points after many years on this device

  • @rodderlayne7198
    @rodderlayne7198 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    he says don't even consider it but for anyone who has less than £70 or wants to spend on a phone it's a good option. I wouldn't use it as my daily driver but it's capable and many apps still work. Things to consider with this phone: uses Micro usb, no micro sd slot, has headphone slot and battery may be badly degraded.

    I always admired this phone!!! Samsung really stepped that year, in terms of quality and design. It no longer felt cheap, and felt WAY more premium (maybe even more premium than the iPhone 6/6s). This and the S6 Edge had such a GREAT touch to them, and the AMOLED screen was AMAZING!!! This phone did aged well!!!

    I have a Samsung Galaxy S6. It was my first phone that I got from my dad in 2019. It has very bad battery life (could go at the max 3 hours). The charge port was messed up (it being my first phone and beliving everything on TikTok) I made it worse. I decided I didn't like the OtterBox that was on it and took it off. That was the worst mistake I ever made. It cracked the phone a lot. To where a few days before Christmas of 2020, it cracked to where the screen didn't come on. I still wished I didn't do that.

    This phone did not have IP certification, the Active probably did but never this. I owned the Samsung exclusive teal coloured one back in the day. And it only got up to Nougat in updates, Oreo (8) never arrived. Compare that with the iPhone 6S which received new iOS until last year, easy to see why these are forgotten.

    • @pqdb7303
      @pqdb7303 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MacTTR Using a 10 year old phone as an example is very lame, and pretty much yesterday's news. When iOS 10 was released the 5 was already four years old, and part of Phonegate where Apple were slowing down the phones on purpose. Samsung didn't limit updates to give the best user experience, they did it to force people to upgrade. But now that more and more Android users are moving to iOS, they have no choice but to offer more updates, and that's why they're offering four years of updates now, which is still behind Apple.
