Honestly, I like the conclusion we got for her, and I'm saying this as someone who liked her character. She's clearly a people pleaser who only wants to please those on top, and sees anyone that doesn't follow the system as lesser. She's kind of like that annoying manager who really messes with you, or a coworker who refuses to join the union to stay in the boss' good graces.
The thing is, the show is subtle with J's backstory and development. They require us to understand her through the context clues. She fought against Cyn at first, and she lost. She lost everyone and everything. She only survived by being Cyn's servant, and she eventually grew numb to the suffering she caused others. J fought against Cyn and lost, so she chose to accept that she could only survive on the winning side. Her interactions with V show that she is trying to keep things together just like V is, she just lost hope of fighting Cyn while V believes she still has a chance.

@@Nscanonhusband well personally I ain't complaining they did that with her, it made the episode quite interesting and actually reflects on who J was getting orders from, which N and Uzi were wondering in the start of episode 2
I feel like Liam thought that J would be hated enough for treating N (the fan-favorite that GLITCH knew wouldn't go unnoticed) like mold, up to the point where he didn't have to do much with her character. However, this decision led to a minor catastrophe. Liam has underestimated the love for robot women in business suits, and now tries to include her in any minor way he can.
the worst part is that there's only 1 episode left before the show either ends or goes on a hiatus for an unknown amount of time after completing it's season. J literally has 1 episode out of 7 left to actually do things and mean something. they threw J away for the entire season and now it's too late to go back and redo that. and the fact that she has more dialogue in a merch advertisement with a runtime of 2:49 than she does in the entire show currently comprised of 7 episodes with a total runtime of 2:31:15 is laughably (or infuriatingly) pathetic and sad.
J has always been the one that follows the company and protocols more than anyone. I am interested to see how this plays out if she doesn’t know that Tessa is actually Cyn
What’s sad is that she is the only one of the murder trio that saw the massacre first hand and we never get a scene of her elaboration on it, V gets that *sniff
I'm certain we're going to get much more J screentime in the finale since we get a good few scenes with J in the teaser. I have a feeling she'll get the character development she deserves.
Spoilers below. I wanted J to have a moment of having to decide who to side with and maybe do a “What I’m about to do has not been approved by the company” switch, but no. It seemed as though she’s loyal to the company, not necessarily whoever is “running it.” As much as she loved Tessa, she worked with Cyn and seemingly knew it was her. V had every right to be pissed at her. I do wonder if the J that was the squad leader ever knew and which J was the original. I’d assume it was Leader! J and the second one. “You’re the reason I wanted your team to keep your original personalities” makes me think if was Leader! J. Anyways, I’ve rambled enough.
It's more or less implied that J follows Cyn because she is afraid of her, afraid of what she can do to her and knowing that she probably can't do anything about it. "There is no escape, even in death" she already had died once, and Cyn rebuilted her, so she is speaking by experience.
