While I won't judge your personal choices, I do think you weren't very well informed by your practitioner. Ferritin isn't an enzyme, it's your iron stores. Nothing matters more than your stores and while it is common, it certainly shouldn't be used an excuse for having low iron. This can become a serious issue if you end up with PPH at birth (thinking worst case scenario here). Please know that not all iron supplements aren't equal and again it sounds like your practitionner didn't know since you didn't mention anything about that, which is a shame. Any pregnant women out there, AVOID iron sulfate as this is the cheapest and least absorbable form of iron. You might one of the lucky that can absorb such a form but if I were you, I would look into a glycinate form which won't cause digestive disturbances.
Hey thanks for your video. I’m pregnant right now and have been vegan for a long time. I’m making sure I’m taking the right supplements but it’s nerve wracking ❤ thanks again for the advice
Hi. My wife is vegan. A die hard like yourself. I’m not a vegan. I eat mainly meat. When my wife got pregnant, she didn’t want to eat animal products etc. our boy was meant to be 95th centile. When he was born he was 25th centile. She had a terrible delivery and pregnancy the whole way through. She refused the whole way through to eating meat or even taking liver pills. My boy had complications on the delivery table and nearly died. Low body weight for his length. Trouble breathing. Had to stay at hospital for a week. 3 weeks later my wife couldn’t breast feed anymore due to too many infections of mastitis. My son was loosing condition fast. This is to warn you that your decisions of your diet are very crucial to the development of your baby. Remember plant nutrients aren’t as bioavailable as meat. So you could get the same amount of nutrition from a meat based meal vs plant based, but what you actually absorb is much much different. But it’s all good now, I took off work for nearly a year to look after both my wife and baby. He’s a beast now. Had him on raw cows milk. He thrived on that from 4 weeks old. He ate meat at 4 months old. He’s 26months old and now bigger than all the kids his age. He is unbelievably heavy. Solid not fat. He drinks about 1.5 - 2 litres of raw milk a day. Plenty of meat also. Small amount of fruit and veg. You really shouldn’t be experimenting with your developing babies health. Your responsible for that child. Take an unbiased look into Weston a price foundation. His research is great. Look at studies and things that go against the vegan propaganda. If something happens to that baby, you will not be able to forgive yourself. People always ask you about your diet because they are genuinely worried about the baby. Please don’t do what my wife did, holding onto her belief that veganism is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It has ruined her health. Oh and by the way, there are many studies on the vegan/vegetarian diet and pregnancy. If I remember correctly, it was studies on the Indian mothers who were mainly vegan. Another one to look at was a comparison of the massai tribe and (another neighbor tribe) massai were basically carnivore. The other plant based. The massai were at least five inches taller on average. 25lb heavier. Didn’t get dental cavities. The list goes on. Basically the massai were eating a nutrient dense diet that was absorbed easily. Think about the baby. So what’s right. Don’t guess with your babies life
Whew! I’m glad the baby was okay in the end. I can’t imagine what that must’ve felt like for you having to watch that happen and not being able to change anything about her diet 😮 I’m following Weston Price’s principles as best as I can, just found out my baby is on the bigger side of average and saw how huge her hands were 😂 she’s going to be Amazonian I suspect. Liver is appalling to me, I had to substitute cod liver oil.
Sorry to say but your wife just wasn't paying attention to her nutrition, a WELL-PLANNED plant-based diet is proven to be healthy for all stages of life
This is very individual and sounds like maybe your wife was not eating healthy or tests were missed along the way. I've been vegan 18 years and gave birth to a very healthy baby boy with no complications and a natural, unmedicated delivery...... you generalizing all vegans and talking about your wife's experience like it's the norm is harmful and inaccurate. I'm so glad my husband isn't as judgmental and closed minded as you seem to be. Also you can't tell what percentile your baby will be at when they're born (plus there's height percentile and weight percentile which are different, it's not just 1 percentile). They can guess how much the baby will weigh but it's usually about 1 to 2 pounds off and very inaccurate.
@@xElinaDB Bollocks. In some countries now, it's being seriously watched. Too many babies are born too small to vegan women. No such thing as a natural vegan. Learn some history. Learn some medicine and nutrition. Stop believing vegan doctors, they're crawling into the woodwork, or haven't you noticed.

@@xElinaDB WE ARE MADE OF RED MEAT. Not vegetable matter.

Yikes
Oh these (so called) experts never consider their healthy life is down to the fact that their parents ate meat and so did their parants.
They’re idiots. They don’t understand that their parents daily was steak sausages eggs cooked in fat.
