I'm pretty danged old, and age has not abated my hatred of ev's. Love my GR Corolla, and will keep it. Might add a 2-seat sports car like a Corvette when feel like I'm too weak to handle the motorcycle. The GR is a beast especially when there is low traction. And it's practical enough for me as an only car.
I LOVE my '21 Outback XT, but wish it could be had with better steering and (dare I dream) adjustable suspension. (Manual Transmission? I know - don't even dream about that!) I also chose the Outback as my tow vehicle for a 2,000 lb. boat) I am always interested in the 'Hot Hatch' type car, but at 61 yrs old, I appreciate a car that is not two inches above the ground with 'rubber band' tire sidewalls', and I don't want a suspension stiff enough to make my (still original) teeth rattle out! My kids both drive, but we still carry a dog crate at times, and need to be able to carry 'stuff'. So as eager as I am for your upcoming 'series', I'm hoping that you factor in some critique for more 'mature' enthusiasts such as myself. Agreed on the suspension, it's the biggest shortcoming. It seems to be their way. The GR86 is much stiffer than the BRZ. I think softer, even with more roll, would more suit the rally character. Given the price, they really could have done adaptive here.
@@LoveLikeaHurricane I haven't driven the Civic Type R, but I hear conflicting things. Some say it's way too stiff, some say the softest setting is softer than the GR. I suppose both can be true.

Hey Tyler, if you haven't yet you should check out the video on the Death of the Manual Transmission that Regularcars just put out. It really reinforces your point that we're probably at the end of an era, and this may be the last chance to experience a variety of cars that are purer in nature. @@enmass90 Yeah it does relate because you're trying to time the future lol. Did you not read what I said? Anyway, you should just buy cars and stop pretending and worrying about something that may or may not happen, and when it does, the timing is unknown.

Currently the best car is the GR86 with performance package. Yes, I understand the oil issues, but over fill by 500ml and you mitigate much of the issues. It is currently the only car close to 90's 2000 feel, easy to maintain, Naturally aspirated. Its like E30 M3. It is also easy to live with with wear items due to its weight, and also that it isn't AWD. Rather than replace 4 tires with AWD when a tire is not fixable, you only have to replace x2 tires. Furthermore, you can still modify it "properly" to store a compact spare, and put it in the front, not having to worry about damaging the drivetrain.
I have never had anyone complain about the back seats at all or even ask for the seats forward. I mean yeah if you're 6'3 then it would be tight but only 14% of americans are above 6' so realistically not a huge factor. I see every video critique the back seats and center console but neither have personally been an issue. I would not even have noticed the absence of a center console had it not been for all the reviews I watched prior to buying one.
I'm not sure how you put 10k on those factory tires. I switched mine out for a softer, nicer 245. I went to the PS4 A/S since I live in a wet state. I didn't notice any quality control issues besides two rattles. One in my dash pad above the cluster, and one in the pillar where the spring for the seatbelt adjuster is. Outside of that, all my panels are perfectly aligned. Without a few important mods, this car left me wanting. After tires, pitch stop mount, and shifter linkage bushings, I feel a lot better about my GRC. I wouldn't give it up for anything less rare. The G16E-GTS is a 2J with 3 cylinder cut off. I wouldn't sell it. It's too rare.
Yes, so if you have auto rev matching, you can actually upshift and down shift without touching the gas or brakes, only the clutch! I don’t use it much in traffic as it gets clunky but the system will stay active through gear changes. It pauses when you hit the brakes or gas, perhaps I will make a video on it, it’s interesting.

I can't believe you are selling your GR Corolla. I just got back from a 5300 mile road trip I mine and it was a complete blast. I will never sell this car, it's just too much fun. You should have installed a RacerX short shifter, spherical bearings, and pitch mount. It's amazing the difference they make in the shifter feel. @@jralphroman Well, it's surprising that very similar models i30N/Elantra N and GR Yaris/GR Corolla would be so different that they would be reversed in this regard.
@@Realistick Maybe. I would expect them to be relatively comparable to be honest, but perhaps the Corolla is set up stiffer. The GRY drives like magic on terrible Norwegian roads at least.
The Elantra has a longer wheelbase then the I30, so probably more compliant.
I've always really liked your reviews and appreciated your presentation. This series isea is something that has not been done before (that i know of). Next level. Very few people preach about enthusiast cars and put their money where their mouth is. And searching with such an open minded approach to compare and purchase the car...what a fantastic concept. I cannot wait to see it. I wish you the very best in this journey and thanks for all you do! Subscribed and I've got my popcorn
The Core's grey interior makes it look more dull and not as nice versus the Circuit's all black interior.
For how much are you selling the GR? The countdown on the end of internal combustion causes me lightweight anxiety lol
The 2025 model has different suspension right?
Kind of, they switched rear mounting points and returned the shocks!
Ill give you an all original 1949 dodge dually and 03 left side drive Mitsubishi Diamante for it. I want that car and i could launch without riding the clutch.
Hi, where can i find the car listed for sell? i'm intrested in buying it.
Great video! The car is good but they really need to improve the styling..
It Needs a Spare tire. I can't use it if it's going to leave me stranded in the mountains.
It can be spooky, the fix-a-flat is far from ideal, but I can’t think of a single sport compact these days that has a spare :(
Im surprised man!!
It’s about time to be reckless again!
Golf R next?
Potentially, it’s part of the series🤫
2025 Black Edition Golf R?
All right, let’s go party!
Do you still have your 2nd gen Tacoma?
Nope!
@@Realistick if you don’t mind me asking, was there a reason why? I’m considering to find a 4x4 2.7 2nd gen tacoma like the one you had.
Maybe it is time to try a different kind of automotive fun? How about a 1971 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible, or something else in that vein? Just skip the Mustangs, they are in a different niche. Go GM or Chrysler.
Bet hes upgrading to a circuit 😊
Id be interested in watching you own a type r. Hopefully that’s in your list of cars to own in the future!
It’ll be in the series. I can’t wait to see if it lives up to the hype!
Great video, I currently own a GR Corrolla and I wanted to know, what would be the next car that you will consider? I also would like to trade mine in for something else but I'm not sure what exactly beside the Honda Civic Type R 🤔
If you were thinking about an AT, the Elantra N is great, the Golf R and Integra type s are solid, more premium options too!
Why do you want to trade in?
I see a ton of used ones around me with like 1,000km, seems like people drive them and sell them way too quick...
@@HAMMER-V100 hi broi purchased a 2024 gr corolla only 6 weeks ago, they are a tricky manual to drive ive found this withe the gr, i have been driven manual cars for over 35 years and this car is not perfect, ive done a few things on the car already, i found the gas pedal too hard so i purched a gr yaris gas pedal and removed one spring from the unit and moved the pedal close to original place about 15 mm closer to brake pedal,i found the clutch too light and the engagement is right at the top end of the travel making it tricky,so i put a extra spring in the cluch pedal for better feel,i also put more grease in the shifter moving parts also a heaver gear knob.
with doing all this the car is way better too drive, like it should have been from factory,im sure this is the reason for people selling them with stuff all kms on them.
i stalled mine driving out of the dealership with diding sit well with me straight of the bat, plus ive found the car is driving better too as the kms are coming on it, done 3500kms and it seems to getter better all the time, i also own a type r fd2 dont have a problem driving that, the corolla is quite tricky to get right but what ive done has helped heaps, sorry for long reply, all the best…..
@@neubs1969 I've been driving a manual for 45 years and found the GRC very easy to drive, it's a very forgiving car to learn on for new drivers too. DeltaX makes a gas pedal relocation kit and RacerX sells a fantastic short shifter and spherical bearings that improve a spreading excellent shifter. I wouldn't describe it tricky to drive in any way though. I absolutely love driving my GR Corolla.
You can't put Hyandai on the same level as Toyota. Don't compare ever.
What % of MSRP are you getting back? I am thinking of selling mine as well
Currently looking like 90 percent! But an extra 8k miles might change that🤕
Why are you thinking of selling?
@@NorthKoreasSon Actually want to trade my '23 for a '24
Wish they would just bring GR-Yaris over. Corolla is too big and too tall for my liking.
it's a bit tall, but it's not much longer. i'd love to see the yaris over here too. rumor has it the celica is about to make a return, so most likely we'll get that with the GR powertrain (sans motor)
Why are you going to waste $800. on new tires if you are getting rid of it soon?? That is just Stupid! 🙄
I wish they were $800😂 The cross country series will be 8000 miles or more and will include track driving, the tires are a necessity.
Selling it before it blows. Toyota's turbos are not doing well.
The ones with electronic wastegates haven’t been perfect, this one has a more simple design (vacuum operated wg)
@@Realistick they are starting to show issues... The GR 3 cylinders are blowing holes in the block and catching fire.
@@SimanSlivar Two did, though the dealer reports and not the BS warranty denials cited different reasons for the fire. Not really a concern, the warranty itself is a much more real fear for me. I'll try to talk to toyota and report back with a video.
Do me a favor with this travel series and convince me i need a new mustang gt to enjoy to swansong of internal combustion before I'm wafting around in a lady shaver for the rest of my days. Good looks bud.
A 5.0 shall be in the mix🤠
@Realistick have you ever considered any crossover content with a channel like RCR? Since you're headed that way anyhow I feel like that would be hilarious content as long as both styles had a chance to stand out..
My east coast schedule might be too tight for that one but that is a good idea, maybe if I can get ahold of him, that could be a possibility! I’ve tried reaching out to other channels that are much larger than my own and haven’t heard anything back🫤
Thank goodness. Was getting tired of econo boxes. You going to do Porsche drive and get a new Porsche every week?
The econoboxes are what's relatable for most people though.
@@ericpromisco2213 they're also the ones ppl buy without test driving. It's what ppl end up with
@@ericpromisco2213 they're also the cars ppl don't bother test drive and end up having to get
Was gonna get a GR Corolla, but now i own a Veloster N im glad i never got one. The N has so so much more diversity. And its a real performance car.
More diversity?
do explain about diversity. i'd argue the opposite. GR has much more diversity.
Pretty much every car mechanic says stay clear of Hyundai. Toyota versus a Hyundai, no comparison.
Sorry you made such decision. Well, after all is your money. Let’s see how you feel 4 years from now.
A haircut would improve your driving experience!
At least he has hair
I made the same comment a few videos back and he said he has a plan for it. We’ll have to wait and see later.
Answer..... Volkswagen Golf R
Negative
GR Corolla is a hunk of shit. Thing should be $20k. 3 cylinder econobox that costs more then a v8 muscle car and has a 10th of the performance.
🤡
you have no idea what you're talking about. horsepower isn't everything, this is a track machine. i thought it was overpriced until i got out on the track.. boy was i proven wrong and then ended up purchasing one lol
@@WeTryMotorsports the special edition morizo edition is substantially slower on track then a basic ass PP Mustang GT and a Camaro 1LE.
@@BlackWater6937 my replied got canned due to links proving you absolutely wrong. 9/10 times the GR beat the GT and 1LE (stock, keep in mind) on the track. however, the GR corolla is ALSO rally inspired. How do you think the Mustang GT and Camaro fair in Rally? You're comparing apples to peppers here. Different strokes for different folks. The Camaro 1LE and Mustang GT (Six, not the 4) are both ~43k. Also, you're getting an American made car with nearly zero resale value vs a Japanese car with high resale value. You're also getting RWD vs AWD. personally, I wouldn't be caught dead in American trash made hunks of junk with abysmal reliability, but that's me. i would add links but youtube doesn't allow it. keep on keeping on though. get in a GR corolla and tell us how it's worth 20k.
@@WeTryMotorsports the poverty Hyundai Elantra N is equally as fast on track as the GRC.
VIR lap times
Morizo GRC: 2:59
2018+ Mustang GT PP: 2:53
Throttle house lap times:
GRC: 1:14
2018+ Mustang GT PP: 1:12
Didn’t even look up the Camaro SS 1LE times since it’s obviously much faster then the GT. Ah yeah I’m so sure the vast majority of the poor people buying GRC’s are totally gonna be rallying them. They can’t even afford a nice car I’m sure they’d just love to beat up their Corolla off roading it. Lmao
