Yeah Idk, all that GTR needs is a tune. But even stock its good. Its amazing cause it did a fast 0-60, it stopped 1ft longer than a 911 with CARBON CERAMIC rotors/brakes, and did a great Nurburing lap time
It can be due to many things. Nothing is broken. People just don't understand what that light means and assume something is broken. It's literally a warning.
I'm pretty far in my Japanese so I can translate some things. The Audi R8 V10 had to retire because of powersteering failure, and the GT-R overheated at the end of the race. Keiichi Tsuchiya drove the Gallardo with ESP off at the beginning but when he had a mistake in one corner he turned the on ESP to Sport Mode
Use to be I remember when they first came out, the 2011's and so on fixed the issue now you can launch as my has you want and track it without issues :)
I think I saw one of the comments that said there was a problem with the ventilation or something with the 5.2 R8 and its driver had to retire because of the smell of the cabin. It said that the retirement was caused by the judgement of the driver of the 5.2 R8.
Well I agree with you on the fact that you can easily mod the GT-R to be much more faster, I'm concidering getting a used one by the end of this year, perhaps a 2008 model, just looking for a deal below $50K.
The Gallardo was showing a LOT of understeer. The P-Zero Corsa tires may improve lap times, but make the car run like this. The most interesting car to watch in this race was the R8 V8, Seiiji Ara this time showed why he's a Le Mans champion, instead of fooling around. He has some experience with the R8 though, he owns one.
@MaxwellReviresco driver does help. nur times are a general indication. it was very obvious that the gtr was easily lapping the track better and more stable with more grip than the lambo. if the race just just between them the tuned gtr i most likely would have won. esp looking at the grip levels.
to wrap it up, Gallardo LP560-4 is good on the straight, GTR is good on the corner, R8 V8 manage to catch up like the GTR, Exige is light, R8 V10 disappeared once in last place
None of you noticed at the end on the straight, the GTR overheated and the computer stepped in to limit boost and rpms while the R8 behind almost caught it to the finish.
The most impressive car in this race was actually the R8 V8, it has more about a 100hp less and alot less torque than the GT-R, yet it finished 2nd in the time attack sheet!! some may argue that the GT-R is heavier, indeed but not by much and it has a lightning fast shifting automated gearbox with launch control, other people will say "but the GT-R is cheaper..", the 2012 GT-R costs $100k, the 2012 R8 V8 about $115k, I would gladly get the R8, why? beauty and exclusivity!
@SergeiSerskov actually if you look in all drag races between R8 v10 and the lp560 the audi won, by a very tinny difference but won. Anyway both cars are almost the same, i and most drivers prefer r8 because it is more comfortable to drive and you can use it on your normal life, mean use for go to the job or anything else. There is a price difference but when you go to buy a car like this you probably don't care a lot with that. So both cars are awesome, tinny and the same engine.
@onefouronezero here is the question. Why is the v10 r8 slower then v8 ? I am thinking that it may be becouse the drivers... Its kind of hard to me to find an explenation why a 510 bhp r8 is slower then 400 bhp r8. Or maybe becouse this track is mosly combined of 2 gear corners and has no long straights ? Proboly on fuji or suzuka the results would be completly diffrent. I am guessing 1. Lambo 2. r8 v10 3.GTR 4.Exige 5.r8 v8
THe R8 here has a 5.2L V10 from a Gallardo. The GT-R has a V6. I would rather get the Nissan because it is the pinnacle of performance motoring engineering.
but there is a reason that you should buy a R8 instead of GT-R, R8 has much FUN to drive. It is not only a German engineering, it also has the passion from the Italian from the V10.
Yes the car gets the job done for you, thats the problem, no clutch means you dont have full control or feel of the car. If you're a real driver you want a drivers car
@ALOUY15 Nope you're wrong. They take every single race very seriously. At the moment he made a mistake, he was probably pushing hard on the limit and ESP activated, which ended up with an sudden unexpected movement of the back end. To prove that, he turns all the electronic aids off after that mistake and it made him even faster.
@rocket91940 the v10 is simply faster on a track, you can read it on MANY magazines, watch videos....theres nothing to deny. ....btw this video is there to show that "their" gtw is the best^^ kinda advertising, but the gtw IS great in fact xP
dude the sr20det rb20det rb25det and rb26detts are all magic! i LOVE german cars more than anything... just my preference but nissan motors are some of the best in the entire world you are right about that! BUT i HATE HATE all the computer controls in the GTR takes the driver out of the driving... i want audi quattro in a gtr with no tq control and power output control and just drive the hell out of it! but i also agree its not a "super car" just a great and needed fast ass japanese answer
still waiting on then to whip out the v-spec. I wonder why they keep denying its chance here at the circuit ..is it to good? would it make all the other cars seems just ordinary? whatsup with that
+Alkhoholic yup, Tsukuba is a short course by comparison, so spoon cars can beat big ass exotic cars. It is a kind of fun to tune :) It is said quite often evo and wrx are eternal rivals, I cant disagree but actually evo is similar to GTR R35, the computer helps a lot. Wrx is more street race type, it's not fast like Evo, more controllable to drivers, it can give drivers driving pleasure. So evo can beat wrx on big courses like Suzuka, Fuji, but in terms of short circuits, wrx is more fun.
I really wanted to find out the difference between the R8 V10 and R8 V8 on the track. Does anyone know any sources where I could find such information?
Well I have had three sports cars before, all daily driven. my conclusion? rear seats are not really a factor when buying a "Supercar", you -most likely- will not use your Supercar daily, you will take the SUV to work and the Supercar on weekends, I agree though that a couple of times those rear seats were handy to me. Again I had "Sports cars" such as a 2007 Mustang GT not "Supercars"
R8 Spider however looks better than both. Depends what you want, a sexy looking soft top V10 that will attract attention everywhere or a V6 weapon that is full of computers and is a Nissan.
The GTR is really up there with all the supercars, there are thousands of videos on youtube to prove it. The reason that the GTR is cheaper is because Nissan wanted to give the world an affordable car that can compete with cars 2-3 times more expensive and surpassed it. At the end of the day, the reason people buy Ferraris, Porsches, Lambos is 1, they can afford those silly prices and 2, badge snobbery. But what you will find also is rich petrol heads do buy GTR's
That R8 V8 with Manual Trans. Looked really like its fun to drive... And I dont know why...Tsuchiya is a great driver amd he's the Drift King but we all know he cant drives Lamborghinis...I cant belive that :(
I don't know, it just don't feel right when the Lambo is not manual. Feels like he can't control the Lambo fully. I believe he can drive almost most of the car. Seen him drive GT3 too.
@bttawfiq the gtr is more practical, it has a better fuel economy, R8 is also available with a dual-clutch transmission, gtr is alot faster with a real racing driver (nurburgring times), and cheaper etc.. if i wouldn't buy the gtr I'd go for the lambo for various reasons
they are all prety good the lambo is made for acceleration the nissan GT-R is made for handling i think.... the audi R8 is made for speed the lotus is just... a regular sports car not too bad

Jeez... this was 12 years ago now. I remember when these cars were pretty much new. Time flies so fast.
I wonder how the latest audi and bmw models would compare with the 911
Im impressed with the driver of the R8 V8 and his perfect rev matching
5:19 I love that "click" sound from the H-shifter ^^
Gated manuals are so nice
Viper! Love your videos
The r8 shifter feels like garbage :( It looks so nice but I'm very underwhelmed by how they feel
R8はトータルバランスがすばらしいね!クールでお洒落な車でそれなりに早いし最高!

Thanks japangator. I was wondering about everything you just explained. Thumbs up.
that r8's gear stick and gate is made of win. Beautiful
Look at the shift speed difference between the GTR and the Lambo.. The GTR looks like it's shifting twice as fast.
e-gear and R-tronic were horrible on the gallardo and R8 models. That's why the Huracan and updated R8 have dual clutch units instead now.
VirusTornado Thanks for letting me know.
AdussFadass cheers
VirusTornado thanks =)
Dual clutch units taken from the VW Golf?
The understeer of the Lambo is just sick.

bringing Lotus Exige here is like bringing spoon in jet fight
The 3500 rpm issue is quite common in this sort of test for the GT-R its a shame.

That V8 R8 did very well, they are surprisingly well balanced, just not quite as fast on the straights, needed 480 hp.
@SergeiSerskov there was a problem in the R8 V10 actually , the GTR IS NOT STOCKKKKKKKKKKK It is tuned with SPORT TIRES
None of you noticed at the end on the straight, the GTR overheated and the computer stepped in to limit boost and rpms while the R8 behind almost caught it to the finish.
I agree with what you said, except the physics part. A car will never put physics into question
If you guys notice the RED indicator on the dashboard of the 5.2L R8? Look at it CLOSELY.

@vitaobatera No , the GTR is tunned by SHADOW that is why it is called shadow GTR
Im surprised how good the v8 r8 drove
And the GTR over heats?! So much for reliability. I await the GT-R fan boys..
GT-R overheated and safety kicked in, forcing the transmission to shift at 3500rpm.
3:40 did they cut away from him downshifting into too high of an RPM range?
the guy driving the gtr is making it look so easy. Just to show how such an amazing car it is.
man, i love the v8 r8, it is just perfect. just the right amount of power for the chassis, that beautiful open gearbox.. and in white they look great
@rilee11 i think the red audi v10 had problems otherwise it woulda been right up there
yeah even the v8 version held up well
@jonmogo1 That's Seiji Ara. He's usually a bit half arsed in these battles but he was on good form there.
@MrEvanRamos The R8 V10 is 120kg heavier and has 40hp less, it is slower than the LP560, almost 1 second slower to 124mph.
@doomie61
Since power steering fluid leaked and the nasty smell occurred from the exhaust manifold.
It retires from judgment of a driver.
uhm what happened to the v10 r8 ? it just suddenly stopped being in the race ..?

the guy in the R8 5.2 V10 was ready to shift like in the 6 speed manual but finally realized he was in the 6 speed manumatic
why was the gtr shifting below 4k rpm's on the final lap???
@MakuthePOtHead you got it all straighten out! it's all because of the driver and maybe because of the track.
loving you is like the water in the sea.... without water the sea is not a sea... so I hope you appreciate me.
Yeah, how the heck R8 5.2 came the last? where else the lambho came first? I doubt something fishy over there

what happened to the v10 r8?
It got an issue with the power steering and had to retire, I think this is what they say at 4:35
