Im a plumber with some hydronics experience, looking to familiarize myself and possibly branch into forced air. I greatly appreciate your content! I can only critique what i know, and that is soldering. The soldering you demonstrated is unsatisfactory. Yes, it holds, but for how long. Heat the tube first, then move your torch to the fitting, then to the back of the fitting. Capillary action will pull the solder to the back of the socket, ensuring complete coverage. What I witnessed was essentially a cold, capped joint. Anyway, I'm still stoked to have found this, but wanted to offer constructive criticsm.
I completed HVAC trade school in August 2024 and earned my EPA 608 Universal certification. I'm now seeking an apprentice position to kickstart my career in HVAC. I came across your fantastic training videos and absolutely love them-by far the best HVAC channel on TH-cam. Thumbs up!
Looks like ICP Day and Night just needs cleaning and maintenance? Our Day and night comfort series installed in 2016 in Arizona and never had any problems, Just clean myself and check and replace capacitors. check for service port leaks and brass cap. Will replace condenser fan or oil it this winter. ICP is probably the best bang for the buck. How is the metal tubing on Alpine air compare? Copper or Aluminum? compressor type, series, brand?
This is awsome your a good man my friend. I wish I knew someone like you I got hurt at my job and lost my job while getting medical care. My ac/heat pump went out and we have to go without because I simply cannot afford a new one. Nice to know people like you still exist!!!!!!!!
Thank you for the free training. I really appreciate it. We are getting close to replacing our ac and will definitely be following your video , One problem, "Awesomest" 😂made my day . All the very best 👍
Hey Dave, what an amazing job brother, I know they were very excited about it being free now, did I hear her say twins😃. I've gotta say I'm a little jealous, 😉 my system of 34 years finally took a dump last month when it was 100°+ here in NC. I ended up getting a Trane 14 seer that cost me $12,000🥵, on top of that a water leak under my house that was $1000 t get fixed. I could've saved a ton of money if I wasn't disabled. Funny thing is in April, I made my last payment on my house!😅 Sometimes ya just can't get ahead my friend. Anywho, Awesome thing y'all done for that couple, you will have many blessings come your way. God Bless you and yours my brother, take care! New Subscriber!!! ~Jay~
The system you are removing looks about 20 years newer than my 30 year old Carrier. This is a really good example of what NOT CHANGING YOUR FILTER OFTEN and not cleaning your condenser and evaporator coils will get you. Take care of your system and eat filet mignon, don't, and eat hot dogs
Yeah, I'd recommend people to save money on a air purifier and buy the high quality air filters instead. better for your air quality, you dont need one in each room, and they have HEPA filters for the standard 1 x 20 x 20
You should be using the thermo trap putty on that valve, super easy to use and doesn't make a mess like the paste does. Reusable so it's not a one off cost and saves you time and from burning things up
Great video. You’re doing yeoman’s work. Wish we had honest and decent HVAC guys like you in the Denver area. Everyone here is all about ripping people off for the most money possible.
First let me say that I love your videos- very helpful. Now just an observation on my part and please correct me if I’m wrong but the reason you were not able to pump this unit down is because the condensing unit is a micro channel coil and if you pump it down it could damage the coil and that is why the safety blew when you tried to pump it down? I noticed that when u first hooked up the gauges and I wanted to see what happened so in a way this has served as a very good training video for all of us newbies out here. Again- this is not a criticism of your work but rather an observation on my part.
Personally I would work on fundamentals. If you're going up seer rating most coils require more airflow due to more surface area. Txv can only do so much. Risk flooding back. I always try to think about the house, duct and mechanical side. Entire system. Also use Silfoss and a torch set. That's high pressure refrigerant.
any thoughts on carrier furnace and ac unit? a gentleman in area he said we will replace the ac unit, coil, and furnace all foe 6k. is that a good deal?
Just curious how do you recover the Refrigerant out of the unit after you cut the lines? Do you pinch the lines and braze them Shut? Curious minds want to know.

It appears there is always a few ways to get to the finish line. I believe the topic for this video eas so that homeowner not afraid of getting their hands dirty may be able to install rhe system. If they have problems they can always call an HVAC tech to help. Yes may cost some mony but not thousands to correct.
You didn’t check air flow and you didn’t remove the shipping bolt from the furnace blower and I’m assuming the old unit was 410a because you never showed flushing the old copper.
My question maybe I missed it, the old system was 410, what was wrong with it besides needing a good cleaning. Was there major damage or did we just want give or put in a new system? "2024, R-454B is the new refrigerant that will gradually replace R-410A. The EPA has mandated the phaseout of R-410A by 2025... Should not be installing units with 410 only to again charge the customer to replace the refrigerant. This is not going to be like r22. which will prohibit production, importation, and distribution of 410. Thank the guy you voted into office... Thanks I enjoy the videos.
Are you letting all your viewers know that the moment one of them mess up and leak all the refrigerant out, that unless they are 608 certified, they’ll have to pay a technician anyways to come out to put refrigerant in the system. Just saying.
DIY HVAC install? This is definitely not a good idea because there are many people who can't even operate a shopping cart and you are suggesting that these people mess with pressurized gas and electrical? This would be how people can get hurt and end up burning their house down. This type of work needs to be done by professional installers.
hey i watched your video of you using silver solder with no nitrogen flow BUT i just watched a video of Ac Service Tech that show silver solder still cause debre in system... here is video th-cam.com/video/hrXX4IjjChM/w-d-xo.html......
Its okay if tour a Yank doing this but where i am from anyone who is not a fully qualified Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Mechanic and/or does not hold a restricted electrical license or refrigeration handling license is illegal and can result in None warranty and also injury if working with electricity and refrigerants. Most commonsense people just ring the professionals rather than stealing food from their mouths by DIY'ing an Aircon system you paid top dollar to train through college an apprenticeship years and hours. Do you see doctors creating content on how to do your own hear surgery. No of course. Anyone thinking of a DIY ac install must be very carefull not to void warranty.
Also what rookie uses a butane torch instead of oxy acetylene? The reason why people shouldn't be able to do this themselves is because they lack the knowledge of superheat and sub cooling, they have no idea if someone did a load calculation before the put in the unit. You know how I know this? Because my customers come in DAILY talking about how a homeowner screwed their system up so bad trying to do it themselves that cost themselves extra hundreds to thousands of dollars in extra work to fix their mistake.
How hard is it? Any number of moderately priced manifold perform the calculation for You. Clamp the dumb thermocouple under the pipe and fill her up until it hits. The sub cooling value stamp on the data plate. You’re acting like it’s rocket science and it’s not.

Condenser is not a microchannel, it is a traditional tube and fin coil.
As a pro what brand condenser do recommend is the best

Why lug bottles around? Stay Brite 8 is stronger than brazing if done right.
