Condenser change out

Swapping out a condenser that had multiple issues for a new one. Old condensers compressor failed with a short to ground. The customer decided to go with replacement based off price and availability of the compressor.

Can a 3.5 ton unit be reduced down from a 7/8 line to 3/4 suction line? The old unit is 3 ton with 3/8 and 3/4 lines.
