    Been thinking about doing the same thing was just concerned if I needed to raise the rear fender for clearance

    • @getafterit8967
      @getafterit8967  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't believe you'd need to raise the fender, I've moved it around plenty of times with all the air out of the shocks and it rolled just fine.

  • @ut1004bp
    @ut1004bp ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Dang, that"s alot of hardware for only $14. I'm thinking you could grind off some of the heat sink fins that would make contact on the lowering bracket, then you could properly align the top with the bottom of the shocks to keep them working smoothly.. I'm going to try to drop my 2020 Road King by only 1", though it looks I'm shorter than you. I left/leaving my 2021 Street Glide at stock level.

  • @bigmoneyallstar
    @bigmoneyallstar 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just curious, would it be a good idea to space out the top of the shock a bit to better align them?

    • @getafterit8967
      @getafterit8967  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, that was my initial thought, and I tried to do that, but there wasn't enough clearance between the shock and the saddle bag.

  • @yankphan100
    @yankphan100 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    With the added lowering bracket, does your tire run the fender when air is dumped ? In other words could you roll the bike without rubbing

    • @getafterit8967
      @getafterit8967  ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, it can be ridden without air, it sounds like there is something very slightly rubbing, barely... If i had to rid it home without air I wouldn't hesitate to.

  • @HDR20
    @HDR20 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Interested in what damage has occurred since this mod and how it rode? setting the shocks at an angle and misaligned as you have done is a bad idea IMO

    I ordered a similar lowering kit how did it perform over time with and without passenger I have heard there is nothing wrong with some people’s bike and others had issue

    • @getafterit8967
      @getafterit8967  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      With just the lowering kit, no air ride, I noticed it was a little bit stiffer, but not bad at all. With a passenger, no air ride, I did bottom out on the middle lowering position (2" lower?) very infrequently on my 2013 road glide. On this bike with air ride I can adjust the air to counteract the additional weight of the passenger. None the less, either situation I recommend it!

  • @Tax_Free
    @Tax_Free ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have the same kit. Mine is set at 3. I'm about to bag the back, but I heard you can get speed wobbly. Has this happened to you?

    • @getafterit8967
      @getafterit8967  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I haven't encountered a wobble in a straight line, when at high speeds and cornering it seems a little wobbly to me, but I don't believe it has anything to do with this kit, potentially the air suspension though.

    Does the bike still roll freely? just incase you blow a line or something else..

    • @getafterit8967
      @getafterit8967  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does, sounds like there may be a super light rub, could be a wire, but I'm not sure. If I blew a line I wouldn't be concerned about riding on to a place I could fix it 👍

  • @paineys3341
    @paineys3341 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Personally I would NEVER use those lowering brackets. I fitted a pair on my 2018 Road Glide Special and when I took a bag off for cleaning I found that the brackets had changed the shock angle enough causing them to rub on my bags. If I had not picked it up it would have eventually wore a hole in them! I only lowered my bike 1", so nothing drastic!
    So, beware guys, fit at your own risk! I narrowed the nose/thigh area on my seat which did exactly the same job and allowed me to flat foot.

    • @getafterit8967
      @getafterit8967  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I ran this kit on my previous Road Glide as well and never had any issues. Thanks for the info, I'll check on my bags after I put a few miles on it. Shaving down some seat foam sounds like a good option.

    • @getafterit8967
      @getafterit8967  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      One time I turned the front tire to the right side to bleed the clutch, it slowly started tipping over as I turned around. I caught the handlebar and was able to hold.it for a while as I stressed the hell out. I was trying to figure out how to let it over as easily as possible 😔 decided to give it all I had one last time and was able to get it righted. Long story short, turned to the left on flat ground no problem, front tire straight on flat ground haven't had a problem, turned to the right? Hard no... 🤣 if I'm concerned I don't let all the air out of the bags and keep it at a steeper angle..

    Does your tire touch the fender when all the way down!

    • @getafterit8967
      @getafterit8967  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the tire may barely touch some wiring (or something) when its all the way down. When I push it around the garage I can hear a noise that sounds very similar to brake pads rubbing on a caliper but I haven't looked into it any further. I have taken off from a parking spot with it all the way down and didn't notice for a minute. If the air system were to fail I would not be scared to ride it with no air as far as I needed to.

      I don't ride without air, at a comfortable height it's perfect. My wife's first time on it she was shocked at how soft it was, didn't bottom out once even 2-up. Honestly it felt even better with a passenger. With my son on the back, about 85 lbs, ride feels the same as when he's not on, which is still great!

      Yes, the air ride will lower the bike, but if you ride without sufficient air the ride quality suffers.
