Thank you both for these videos. I ride a Chieftain Ltd, am 5, 2 and weigh about 120 lbs. The struggle is real. And the limitations are real. Courtney illustrated it perfectly as well as the workarounds and things to avoid. This type of content is encouraging and shows how willpower overcomes fear.
being a "short rider" when you're backing up your bike, especially with one leg, be weary of small rocks or anything that can cause you to slip... it happens when you least expect it!
AND THE HEAT! Nothing worse than when you're trying to push that bike back and that engine/exhaust takes a bite out of your leg! I've been burned bad on my calf
I’m 5‘5 and 5’6 on a good day, I was on the fence about getting a bagger, After seeing Your video I’m definitely considering getting a street glide. Thank you your video is very helpful.
Thanks to the both of you for this video. I'm 5ft at around 125 lbs and just recently got my motorcycle license. Everyone keeps telling me I'm too small to ride a Harley or a bagger but this video definetly brought my hopes and confidence up. Also, Courtney looks badass on that bike!
To back up the bike, I would put down both passenger pegs and push my calves move backward. To hop on the bike, I would use to hold front brake, step up one foot on the floor board and swing my leg over. Been doing that since.
I NEVER feel an obligation to back my bikes into a space. I point the front end so it's always uphill. As long as you have the option, there's no reason to ever have to back-up a bike up an incline.
I'm 4'11 and ride a bolt. I always stop with both feet down and if I can't back it up, I jump off and put it where I want it and don't give two shits who sees it! Loved the video.
Courtney is absolutely brilliant. Now here's an alternative viewpoint from someone not selling massive bikes:- When wondering if you can manage a very tall / very heavy bike please bear in mind (i) Why do you want such a bike? (ii) How often will you be riding / practicing? (iii) Will you be riding on say the long straight roads of the USA, or say the heavy traffic/ immensely difficult roads of the UK? (iv) What does your home parking involve? (v) How badly would dropping the bike affect you? It's important to remember that riding expertise is not purely straight line learning. You don't get better over the years, standing ready to turn on expertise at any time. I've been riding on the roads for 55 years + and for much of it I felt that I could do anything on a bike, but now that I ride infrequently taking out my Honda Valkyrie Interestate is a major challenge principally due the garage access - steep hill / 90 degree turns at 1 mph etc. But it's hard when you consider any particular bike exceptionally desirable and feel that you simply have to have it! At the end of the day owning a bike which frightens you is not what biking is all about.
I love her!! I want a road glide and everyone is telling me I’m too short! I have test drove a few and they are super heavy. Have a hard time even backing them up a little. Practice makes perfect. Super inspiring, thanks for the video! I would love to see more videos with her:)
Next I think I'm going to do a video of Ryan as my passenger! Also, even though we went over backing up on this one, in the last year of owning this bike, I have never had to back my bike up an incline. Like Ryan said, I avoid it at all costs. The only reason I can ever think of someone NEEDING to back up on a hill is for a picture of all bikes backed up to a curb. I let gravity and the motor work for me!!
Thank you so much Courtney, I've been lookin to switch my slim for a street glide special. After watching a few of your videos I feel like I can ride and maneuver a bigger bike with the great tips you gave. 😀
thank you both for this video, im 5'5" feet tall and considering to buy a road glide and im not confident to ride this big and heavy bike (eventhough i was using 2016 breakout for the past 2 years lol) but what Courtney showed to me in this video boosted my confident and im pretty sure to get and ride one for myself. Once again, thanks a lot both of you😊
I'm a short guy(5'4") and no joke, I struggle to back up my Yamaha Raider. It's wide stance has my legs spread and me on my toes. Plus the exhaust is high enough that when I drop my right leg, it rests on the hot pipe. So needless to say.... If I HAVE to back up.. I have zero shame hopping off the bike and pushing it back. Hahahaha
I’ve nearly dropped my SG from my foot slipping while walking it back more times than I can count... I look for debris most of the time but it’s the times I’m in a hurry & forget that get me. Dirty slick finished concrete will get you to if you aren’t careful... Considering her size/weight compared to that RG I think she did an awesome job!
She does a great job and could out ride alot of guys..also remember that these are stock bikes and most shorter people will most likely lower the bike somewhat..my wife if 5'2" on a streetglide and dont know of any guys that can out ride her..BTW too many people say Sportster as a starter...poor starter bike..
Must be the camera angle but in both videos the kickstand doesn’t look like its forward all the way like its about to kick out. I’m sure this is just the camera angle or the way they are seeing as she’s moved tons of bikes working at the dealer….just an observation
Hi, I ride a ‘16 Fatboy Lo with a reduce reach seat and being 5’4”, I have trouble sometimes reversing the bike. I applauded her for riding bagger 👏🏻👏🏻, it’s a hot bike🥰.
Thank you for these videos! I’m a shorter rider (5’6) and this gave me some confidence to go test ride a road glide that I’m hoping will eventually be mine.
Just a little PSA. Your flag is hanging the wrong way on your wall. Union is always upper left to the observer. Doesn’t look like your video image is flipped backwards. Other than that, great video.👍
I wouldn't say I'm a short rider. I'm 5'8". However, I have a 28"-29" inseam.... so I experience all the same problems with my street glide. I've only had the bike about 3 months, but with a gravel driveway, I have probably almost dropped it about 10 times just backing out of the garage.
Moonshine HD, one of the few excellent dealers remaining. I've set up a few FLH and other brand bikes for shorties. Adding a Baker Drive Train reverse is another great option. And yet another costly but effective option for the bagger, the LegUp LandinGear. Irrelevant, some also get the Rekluse RadiusX auto clutch. Seat reupholstering custom fit to YOUR ass, many options here. Some of the more costly higher quality rear shocks 1" lower is another option, there are controversial considerations here. A lower profile tire, usually calls for speedo calibration.
I ride a street bob. Eventually I want to upgrade for a road king this video gives me hope. I am a little scared of it lol she did awesome I am 5’ 3” I started on a 883 then 1200 now I have my street bob hopefully one day I have the guts to ride a bagger lol
Sometimes you'll still be put in a position where you don't have a choice, but to be parked in a not ideal position. If you end up on a grade towards the kickstand, being short can be very difficult to get the bike upright. Or, you may have a steeper grade to back up, be parked in grass or on gravel, and being short makes it about impossible to move the bike on your own. Also, if you're going to be doing a lot of errands, and stops, a bigger bike can really be a handful, even trying to be strategical about where you're parking. Even at times my average height and tall friends prefer not to be out on their street glides and road glides. I'm shorter stature myself. I prefer touring bikes for just that, and have a softail which is my daily ride. Note, I do have the Legends Air Ride on my softail, so being able to set it way down really helps with manually maneuvering the bike. I'd reccomend a similar suspension setup an a touring bike, if youre shorter. I know I sound negative about short people and touring bikes. I'm not against it. Just be aware, you're likely still going to run into issues even with short person strategies.
The good video bikes content with tutorials, tips'n tricks solution & experience too that makes our knowledge increase, open mind of big bike, awesome👍
I've been looking for a short girl challenge and example on Harleys. You're amazing, Courtney! I'm going back to watch again and to get your email! I just got a softtail deluxe, and I'm 5-3, it's been a little intimidating since I got it home a week ago until I ran into this video. Thank you both so very much. I'm going to give it a shot at some very careful practicing tomorrow morning.
I started on a touring bike, Well, not entirely true…. 30 years ago I rode. Sportster twice and had a triumph 650 1968 bonneville that was back in the 80s …. So…. Yea. It was like starting new …. You gotta lose the fear .. just cruise for hours on relatively low traffic country roads.. get the feel..it will come quickly… Don’t try all that parking lot stuf you see until a bit later.. but definitely do try the parking lot stuff with full lock turns.. like the parking lot trainers you see.. you will want to do that.. but not until you have a few hundred maybe even a thousand miles under your belt
quick answer: probably not. if you can flat foot the bike, you can learn to handle it safely, no matter what your size is. every harley bagger can be modified for those who are barely over 5 feet. every bike is too big when you are a new rider............ every bike is too small when you are an experienced rider
I'm a 5'3ish 66 year old male, Just got my 2nd full size bike EVER, yeah it's only a Sportster Hugger but at my age I'm doubtful I'll buy anything else.
wow is all I can say! I am 5'2" and just bought a SG and my biggest fear was that I am too short for this bike, coming from a Softtail Delux, I have been really in my head about OMG what have I done! Courtney, wow girl, you just gave me the confidence I needed, especially the kickstand trick in part #1. thank you! subscribed and following for more tricks!
As a short female rider this actually helps so much. I have been limiting myself! I thought I was going to be stuck on my rebel 500 for ever! I’ve been to Harley shops down here in San Diego, Ca but I am always being told not to lower any bike.

Your very welcome. Funny tidbit my wife 5’-11”can flat foot from the back of my RGU she saved us from a tip over on a slight incline.I will not park up hill on an incline anymore. Circling the lot for that perfect spot 🤞. We both laughed and I thanked her for putting her feet down. 🤣🤣
Really helpful tips, Just got my first Harley Davidson Road Glide, heavily inspired from video and gave me confidence to go all in on this bagger, Ride Safe, fun video 🤙🏽❤️ Aloha, Kenneth
you really need to make sure the US Flag is displayed properly. and no, the video is not in reverse as your HOG logo on the shirt is displaying correctly. Thank you. Courtney is a great asset to your organization.
We have a shoe cobbler in Shelton Washington. But he good with any leather work. While looking at his repaired shoes & boots ready too be picked up, I see pair boots. The boots looked like double soles an heels. Someone wants too be taller! I pick one up an say, these be good for motorcycle! He laughs! Yeah, that what they are for!
I got no trouble with short! My dad was 5'6", if he stretched some. But he, his mom, brothers & sisters walked from little rock Arkansas too S. California across Oklahoma Texas an Southern deserts, making kids like iron. Anaheim cops saw old lady in wagon with 8 kids walking behind, decided too put smallest 4 in orphanage. Entire orphanage kids wanted to dominate these new 4 little kids. So they started a fight! Last four standing were my dad and other 3, but there was tiny little girl sitting on floor leaning against wall. She looks at dad an says, you fight good, my name is Norma Gene, I like you! If her name sounds familiar, it's because she changed her name too Marilyn Monroe. So wonderful, great things than happen to even the smallest!

There are suspension systems out there that have improved the ride of a lowered bike. I am glad this video could help you. Thanks for watching.

you really need to make sure the US Flag is displayed properly. and no, the video is not in reverse as your HOG logo on the shirt is displaying correctly. Thank you. Courtney is a great asset to your organization.
She looks like she did pretty well. Not much of a problem.

I hope the both of you keep making videos.
Thank you!
I know someone who wears a similar type of boot when they ride.
@@timbarnett3898 Now that would be a interesting movie. Thanks for watching.

That will be a question for Courtney. I will look the next time I am up there too. Thank you, for watching.
the perfect woman for most riders, small, tats, smoke hanging out as she rides, and rides a big Harley. I need one like her in my life lol.
Haha, Thanks for watching.
Love the video. Don't be mad at me for saying this but it is not safe to ride a bike that you cannot have both feet flat on the ground. Be safe
Thanks, remember what some people think is not safe is a daily driver for her. Thank you for watching.
