    Nice work. I'd love to see some future videos as the grass starts to germinate and grow up.

    I am interested in how well Bentgrass grows in the shade. I’m looking forward to seeing how yours does under that tree.

      Honestly it does just fine. It’s the dogs running up and down the fence that tears that area up. However that area does get 4 hours of good sunlight in the morning and evening.

    How to on the DIY leveling rake when? Hopefully I didn't miss it somewhere else on the channel but that's the best DIY one I've seen and would love to know how you made it before buying one here before spring.

    Currently binge watching your channel. You got me thinking about doing my fall overseed on my channel with bent grass instead of perennial eye. 🤔🤔

    • @ReelTurf
      @ReelTurf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I’ve thought the same thing. I would advise against it. Bentgrass doesn’t grow in near as quickly as perennial rye does. In my experience with both, I don’t think there is enough germination time before the soil temperatures drop. I always have to play this balance of soil temps hit the 70s but yet my Bermuda is still aggressively growing. You’ll find yourself needing to mow the Bermuda before the bentgrass is really ready for that. This is why perennial rye is good for overseeding. It germinates within 1-2 weeks and it’s ready to mow.

      @@ReelTurf yeah I did perennial rye in my videos last season. In south Mississippi our soil temps don't drop as fast as west texas. I work out there on a drilling rig. Also don't get that cold here either.

      Mississippi sounds enjoyable. I wish our season would last a little longer. What part of west Texas are you drilling in?

    hey i wanted to make a bent grass golf green (i kno not an easy task) do i need to kill my esisting grass in the area i want or how to i get started..also, i didnt see a lot of weed killer for bent grass laws, trimec was the most popular, do u recommend this herbicide? thank u man.

    • @ReelTurf
      @ReelTurf  ปีที่แล้ว

      When preparing for bentgrass, you’ll want to kill and remove all existing grass. The key to bentgrass is a solid pre emergent program throughout the season. There are not many weed killers intended for bent. I used fertilome weed out.

    When you’re spoon feeding every 3 days, how much per 1k are you talking about?

    • @ReelTurf
      @ReelTurf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I literally just shake it out by hand like you saw me do here. It doesn’t have to be that scientific at this stage. I just give it a light feeding every 3 days until it’s about 90% germinated. If you’re using a drop spreader on a large area I just set the setting low and walk the property. However you do it, it’s just a light feeding.

      @@ReelTurf thanks. Going to try creeping bent grass on my putting green soon. The True Putt creeping bluegrass is not working out well for me here in WI.
