Solti, grandissimo interprete, e meraviglioso nell'immergere l'ascoltatore, in questa ouverture, nell'universo fantastico di Wagner

Solti shows what a real conductor must know and feel for the music. He pays attention to the score and obviously already worked the orchestra to his tastes, which are the best.

One of the very best conductors of his generation or any other. I only wish there were more quality recordings like this, showcasing orchestras from the 1930s to the present. With Furtwangler, Bohm, Klemperer, etc.

I have a serious heart problem and would rather stay with You Tube and Wagner than spend Government money in hospital. I have never seen Sir G Solti conduct better. He obviously loves the music as he has a different expressive way of conducting which I find outstanding. I am glad to have heard it and will continue to listen to this piece regularly. This shows that great music can be beneficial in health problems .

Yeah. I treasure the SACD (Super Audio CD) format of Mahler Symphonies 5-7 and Strauss tone poems with CSO under Solti. I wish they'd convert other symphonies of Solti conducting into SACD too.

Signature, commanding, and brazen. Solti was in the top 10 best conductors for good reason. This looks to be circa 1950, yes? If someone knows and can so advise, much obliged. Wagner was, clearly, a genius. Paz.

O mundo lhe aplaude.

I agree with all of the comments. He was a superb conductor and knew the music throughly. Wagner found his perfect interpretator in Solti.

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
    Time to die."

So very germane, Alex. What a wonderful quotation from the only Bladerunner, an incredible classic that should have rained Oscars. Rutger Hauer: magnificent. The vast multi-dimensional spectra he captured with those words. Heroic!

What a great conductor ! Unlike most of the other conductors, Sir Solti doesn’t need a score in front of him.

    • @gabrielkaz5250
      @gabrielkaz5250 3 ปีที่แล้ว

It's kind of bad in my opinion. I share the same point of view as Ansermet. Which is that, even if obviously the score isn't the music, the music comes from the score. Then not playing with it feels like you don't play music, (for the conductor at least) because you're giving yourself as a spectacle.

      I'll give you some protocol.
Wrong: Mr Solti (because he held a title indicating his knighthood)
Wrong: Mr. Solti (the same as above)
      Wrong: Sir Solti
      Correct: Sir Georg
      Correct: Sir Georg Solti
Gimmick: The title of Sir ought always to be followed by the first name. Meanwhile the surname can be dropped.

I heard Solti used to rehearse with a little digital metronome. Maybe that's how the brass got to sound that uniform.

This piece of music for me, has always represented the Germanic struggle against _________ and their almost Cosmic struggle of Good vrs Evil, White vrs Black, Positive vrs Negative , Yin vrs Yang ☯️ the Germanic cause/struggle to keep the Holy Pure Blood that the, Holiest of Holy's, Most High, Creator God/YHWH or whatever you want to call the God of God's who created the Universe and Everything in them, It is obvious to me, that the Caucasian Race was graciously given this Pure Holy White Light bearing Blood, that this Race of Adamic Man, that God blew the Breath of life into, some of the Asiatic races have some small percentage of this blood, but even a small percentage of this Holy Blood is powerful enough to break the Darkest of Satanic spells and can reverse all the poisonous acts done in the last 10,000 years to this Creator Race, that "they" try so hard to erase from history, even the Smithsonian has taken many artifacts out to sea, and pushed overboard so to forever blind people

Music written for Bugs bunny was written by Carl Stalling. This had a unique sound as he blended classical style arrangements into the cartoon story line!

I like the reading Solti managed here, even if I'm not a fan of him. His conducting on the podium though is bizarre and awful. I believe most of his gestures are perfectly dispensable (Bernstein is another example) and do not really add nothing to the job done during rehearsals. I prefer conductors with a sober style that avoid distracting the audience and ease to concentrate on the music itself.
