      New Vegas gets my vote.
      More diversity, Far better factions, path isn't as forced as 3. Weapon customises.
      3 was great but lacked in freedom. (sick of the metro) DC was a maze of corridors.

      fireballs lol no there are more locations in new Vegas have you found them? and way more quests too, along with outcomes for the end, I love fallout 3 don't get me wrong but being able to anywhere in the map at the start shouldn't be good there should be parts you can't go to unless you're a higher level and you can go on the other side of the river on your own and find a shit ton of deathclaws along with some nice power armor sets and yes the left side of the map on the southern end is not explorable but the dlc makes up for that big time with being able to open two new areas in lonesome road and I think it's fair to include dlc since fallout 3 needs it to even stand a chance with that abysmal ending but we can all agree 4 failed horribly in that regard at least 3 had actual dialogue although cheesy sometimes but I do recognise without 3 there wouldn't be new Vegas and I appreciate it for that and still play it to this day along with new Vegas currently playing both lol

    • @Virtualnerd101
      @Virtualnerd101 4 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      Especially because good roleplaying games are designed to be played in multiple playthroughs, as believable characters wouldn't do everything that the game has to offer.

    • @Virtualnerd101
      @Virtualnerd101 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @kie I agree with what you are saying, but I would not conflate Fallout 4 with Skyrim, at least Skyrim has a proper dialogue tree. But yes, I agree, RPGs are moving further and further away from their DND roots, which has resulted in casualizing.

    • @Virtualnerd101
      @Virtualnerd101 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jona Sure, if you're comparing Skyrim to FNV, there is no comparison. FNV often has 30 lines of dialogue per character, but that doesn't mean that Skyrim's dialogue is bad.

      replaybility is a strong point of fallout, but it was never requierement of a good rpg. You hardly hear anyone replaying ultima, final fantasy, skyrim, mass effect 2, and witcher 3. If the game is really immersive, you will feel so attached to the mc you dont want him to live different path. New vegas biggest weak point is that you dont really feel attached to the character emotionally. Did you have any emotional moment in new vegas at all?

  • @jacobmeade1045

    Fallout 3 had 1 story. Fallout New Vegas had as many as you want, especially with the yes man playthrough. You could side with anyone, even the raiders could be made allies with. The better skill tree allowed for the player to play the game over and over again and have the ability to find different things. I absolutely love fallout new vegas for everything it did

      Patrick yeah dude, because BoS is not a faction of fucking power rangers trying to save the world with the help of a giant robot and a huge army. It's a technocratic faction seeking for technologies of the old world, and it's trying to keep it safe from people in the wasteland. That's why they live in bunkers, have around like 30 members in it and are undercover most of the time. New Vegas's Brotherhood is the closest to what it should be in Fallout.

  • @tigresuave11
    @tigresuave11 6 ปีที่แล้ว +161

    I liked the world of Fallout 3 more, it really gives you that feeling like you've been in a vault and have no idea of what's to come. Also, the claustrophobic feeling from 3 makes everything seem more personal, forcing you to deal with issues head on (in Vegas I could kill most enemies before they were even aware of me). However, New Vegas had a far better perk system that had made me come back to the game over and over again. I also love Boone and Ed-E, which just makes you a 3 person army (the enhanced perception and highlighted enemies makes you the ultimate sniper).
    Fallout 3 makes you feel like a survivor and New Vegas makes you feel like a badass.

    • @dathunderman4
      @dathunderman4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@_CrimsonBladethe problem isn’t being able to defuse it right after leaving the vault. You can explain that away as your character being incredibly lucky, or being very skilled in explosives after years of studying and practicing while in the vaults. However, the issue is it’s a 30 explosives skill check, which is the equivalent to a complete novice who barely has any understanding on explosives handling. And you can’t explain it away as luck either because the prompt literally tells you it needs someone highly skilled in handling explosives. It’s like they originally meant it to be a much harder skill check but some dev made a last minute change so that everyone could experience it early on.

    So I played fallout 3 for the first time this February, this was my first fallout game. It's fair to say that I absolutely loved it. I genuinely felt I'm in post nuclear apocalyptic world because of it's ominous soundtrack and grim world. It really was a surreal gaming experience for me. Just like all games that you love from the get go, I was immersed in it for full 2 weeks. After finishing the game, I intended to download and play NV but didn't have any expectations for it to match the fallout experience.
    I've been playing NV for the past 2 days and it's already clear how it's different and better than fallout 3.

    New Vegas... And as for the debate, the Fo3 guy lost me when he said that he likes an openworld where you can do everything in one playthrough. That kills replay ability and roleplaying.What you gonna be? The worlds greatest diplomat? No thanks lol.. Part of the beauty of NV is that you cant have everyone liking you, but you can have everyone hate you or feel indifferent at best. I love starting a new game in NV and having the ability to "roleplay" who youre gonna be on this playthrough.The side quests in NV is what makes the world feel real and lived in. Theirs alot of factions,subfactions and communities and each have there own philosophy on life. And by helping many of them out too much will automatically make another faction dislike you. NV just seems more open world imo. And as soon as you finish character creation in NV you can just take off and explore the wastes in any way you want. Obsidian FTW!!!

      i'd respectfully disagree, i think New Vegas better understands the base setting of fallout 1-2-tactics within regards to its setting and it kinda shows a fundamental misunderstanding that Bethesda has with fallout as a whole. fallout isn't a series about the post apocalypse, its a series about the post-post apocalypse. in new vegas we see people building new things and embarking on the messy adventure of doing society and all its trappings.
      tl;dr fallout is about living in a society

      There's an emphasis placed on the new world with the former and the aspect of moving forward and building something new. The remnants of the past exist, but do not dictate the course of history mankind takes post-war. Bethesda really leaned into the retro-futurism aspect with FO3 and FO4 with the whole 50's Americana deal, which is a little odd when you consider what weapons existed in FO1 - 02 - Tactics, along with clothing / armour. We went from a mix of 50 - 80s retro-futurism, to pure 50's Americana.

  • @carloscollazoii

    New Vegas had villains that were a threat to the Mojave, but Fallout 3's version of The Enclave and their plans were a threat to anything that didn't have a pure, unmarred human genome. Basically a threat to just about everyone in the Fallout world. In 3, The Brotherhood Of Steel got to be true heroes for once instead of just being techno hoarders, you had the option of nuking Megaton city, got to deal with a "super hero" and "ant villainess," deal with a massive super mutant behemoth and actually give mankind a fighting chance to survive with Project Purity. The ambience also immersed you into the desperation and struggle of the Fallout world. 3's events, in my opinion, had a greater influence in Fallout in general.
    New Vegas had The New California Republic, The BOS, and Caesar's Legion, and while I liked the The NCR and to a point the more vanilla BOS, Caesar's Legion just wasn't a long term threat. Caesar was dying after all, and without his vision and guidance, the Legion was destined to fall apart. As far as as weapons, New Vegas definitely had more, and had better gameplay, but then again, Bethesda had to put things together from scratch and Obsidian Entertainment already had Fallout 3 as a point of reference to innovate-so I feel it's kind of unfair to just automatically say that Vegas is superior to 3. I prefer 3 in any case, while I've noticed that the majority of comments sections have preference towards New Vegas, I'll stand by 3.

  • @gagenott

    In this debate, New Vegas definitely won, but if you want to see a really good defense of Fallout 3, watch ManyATrueNerd's "Fallout 3 is better than you think". I'm not sure which one I personally prefer - I love both. I really appreciate Fallout 3's atmosphere, which it nails perfectly, and I'm sure I don't have to explain why I love New Vegas.

    • @BlackLegion12621
      @BlackLegion12621 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Gamerguy826 I've heard that optimization on PC for New Vegas was a nightmare. I play on 360, and never had a crash for the game (plenty of glitches). As for gameplay consistency, I found Fallout New Vegas' combat to be less annoying thanks to the inclusion of iron sights and tweaks to the enemy AI. In Fallout 3, human enemies with guns had a tendency to strafe quickly, making it difficult to land hits without relying on VATS. I did find the world better for rewarding exploration in FO3, but more difficult to get invested in due to the shallowness of the characters and dialogue.

      You know what, fair enough. Honestly though, what will save 76?. Honest question. I'm thinking of it as: "Fallout's weakest aspect was always the shooting and it's strongest was immersing the player (Not players) in it's world whilst giving them moral dilemmas, real role-playing, interesting NPC's and a compelling story. They built Fallout 76 around the weakest part of the franchise." I hope I'll end up liking it, but what will I end up liking? I hated the Division, Destiny, Borderlands, GR: Wildlands and Rust. Which is what 76 is a mix of.

    • @legacy6329
      @legacy6329 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not really bothered about npcs. Godd said that there is still a story line with a bunch of quests so i'm happy about that. Also i really want to be a nice player and have a little shack to trade with other players. VATS is still in the game which helps people who can't aim a lot. I always wanted a fallout that's online. If it ain't good, at least i got the collectors edition and have cool stuff. The way 76 is looking. It's a game that depends on the players. We also get free content after launch so that's good.

    • @zyker2156
      @zyker2156 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      See I like playing with my friends but not running around an open world shooting bullet sponges. The story I can almost guarantee will be even worse than 4's since there are no NPC's. V.A.T.S is different it only helps you aim and doesn't slow down time. I suppose it does depend on the players but even if I meet some really nice players, all we'll end up doing is visiting a few locations, killing a few enemies, looting, rinse and repeat.

    • @zyker2156

      It saddens me because Fallout's universe is so rich and full of potential and BGS aren't using it to it's fullest. It's my favorite universe in a gaming and they turned it into a looter shooter to play with your friends. People adore BGS and I honestly don't know why, no they're not bad but... why so loved? Like I understand CD Projekt Red and Naughty Dog, but BGS. Why? I think its because they make fun games, just not good stories. Story is everything to me.

And i had opposite-i always used VATS, almost never used normal shooting, because controls on Xbox one X in FO New Vegas are kinda bad. New Vegas combines satyrical humor, with grim setting of apocalipse-Just like oryginals Did. Also the monsters are closer to behave and look to Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 than FO3 creatures.
