  • Pete Carroll joins Brock & Salk on Seattle Sports one last time, this time to discuss this past week, as well as his last season as coach. What was his final press conference like for him and what will he do moving forward?
In this exclusive interview with the former coach, they take a deep dive into this last season for the Seahawks, discussing how we got to this point. They also talk about the get-together for Pete Carroll this past week, where so many of his former players, including Russell Wilson, showed up to celebrate the former coach.

Same. There's nothing you can hate about Pete. He has also brought us the best moments of our lives as sports fans in Seattle. He put together arguably the best defense of all time and it was the best sports I'd ever watched. Looking back on it makes me emotional because we won't experience that again and it's all thanks to him and John.

I hear you. But I've been crying over the last 5 years if mediocrity! Now life is more than football and Pete's a great man. I'm nothing but grateful for his ten years. But for back to back lucky drafts, the rest of it is not very good. Fact.

@@2pugshakur50nah President chair just like Celtics head coach. He’s still gonna have a big say in operations for Seahawks. Word is that he’s already had next head coach lined up. Which if he has a say in that, is setting a precedent for how it’s gonna be. The franchise got dropped on Jody Allen’s lap, im sure she doesn’t want the responsibility, and is handing that off to Carroll without losing ownership.

I'll never forget what you taught the guys (and me) Coach Carroll! I listened to as many of your press conferences after the game as I could in the past few years and there's so much to be gained on how to be a Champion. People should understand that they can be a Champion in anything, all they have to do is work for it, never give up and keep the juice flowing.
I have to agree with KJ (see his podcast upload) this new generation doesn't listen. I see it at work, this is a generation that DOESN'T go home and watch the film, learn their craft and keep moving forward. Instead, they go home, play "Call of Duty" and watch TikTok. KJ called them the "Tiktok" Generation.
Coach Carroll, I'll tell you that I've been able to get through to most of the the value and feeling of accomplishment of doing a job well done. That's something you've helped me do, and I'll be forever grateful for that. Thank you, you'll always be Coach Carroll to me!

Without Russell Wilson, he has a negative record. Our great wins were mostly about great defense and Wilson's ability to turn a crap keep-it-close game plan into gold.
The insane amount of resources poured into the 2nd best paid defense of the league, finishing 31st DVOA, was a clear indication that any idea of competing was a fantasy. It's the team Pete built, full of dislikable figures Pete kept his hands over to save face.
Also, the same arguments have been made after Holmgren left. Four seasons later, we had a pennant.
If they had moved on two seasons ago and hired Mike McDaniel (who was as surefire a great HC as you could hope to find), they would compete for a SB, again.

Jeez, I'm really going to miss Pete, so thankful we had such an awesome coach. Figured he didn't have more than 4-5 years left as coach but kinda wanted him to make it to 80 and retire lol. Moving on now though feels far too soon, and during a critical time for the team as a whole... I feel the Seahawks need his guidance and hard oversight more than ever, not some placating advisory role. I happen to remember the hawks before 2010 and it was not pretty, Holmgren was our first ray of hope for a better future. But then Pete rolls in like a boss, absolutely exuding charisma, all smiles and good vibes, and on top of that he walked the walk right to the playoffs his first year like a stud. I sure hope Jody knows what she is doing, because if we go sub-500 next season the fans will be rabid and she is going to look like an absolute mongoloid.

New coach have big to fill since not only he has to at least keep winning record , but also beat 49ers, Rams, going to play off EVERY YEAR. It's a HIGH bar set by Pete that caused him to lost his job.

Huge Pete Carroll fan here! IMO they made a mistake letting this guy go. Was he perfect, no. Did we have Winning seasons, Yes. Did we go to the Playoffs most years , Yes. Have these past handful of years been everything we want, no. But Only 1 team gets that SuperBowl. Pete Carroll is optimistic, energetic and believes in the intrinsic value of other humans. No other Head Coach is like this. IMO they messed up. I am going to make it a point to follow Pete Carroll in whatever capacity he is in next. Truly, Pete Carroll deserves Every ounce of respect he is being given.

I feel carrol knew what he was doing and this was a mistake. He saw something in the players this year that they didnt see in themselves. Thats the problem with the squad we had this year. Several players lost their hunger and heart for the game. I really dont think it was pete at all. You dont see diggs or jamal or woolen or even frank clark tearing up over the passion of the game or even if we cut them! This was a team Paul built not Jodie!

"Several players lost their hunger and heart for the game"
And I think that may have been part of the reason Pete was let go. Those players weren't (from what we could see, anyway) being held accountable.

What are you talking about? Paul Allen died in 2018. He had nothing to do with this team. The current team was "built" by General Manager Schneider and team executive and Head Coach Pete Carroll. Jody supplies the cash like every owner.

    • @jessejames7140
      @jessejames7140 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

@wrsawy do your homework. She was supposed to sell of everything he had and not dictate how the team is ran. From the horses mouth the decision was made by people who do know football and are concerned about revenue. You should get some rest and so some research before you assume you know what you speaking on!
