      Yes please... I don't want another defensive minded coach, and the way Schneider has been drafting (fine, Carroll got his way with Witherspoon) it 100% seems Seattle's direction is going to be just that. Their offense is STACKED outside of guard/QB... time to pull the trigger.

    Actually, Pete changed his philosophy on defense, going from a 4-3 to a 3-4, and they subsequently dropped to 30th against the run in that two year span. So, saying that Dan Quinn would be a continuation of Pete's defensive philosophy is NOT accurate and instead would be more in line with the amazing defenses that took the Seahawks to the Super Bowl.

    • @K1forMVP
      @K1forMVP 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Damn Quinn would be a massive downgrade he’s proven to be incompetent as a HC without a Shanahan running his offense , without Kyle he was terrible. He won’t be able to compete in the NFCW next year with roster in need of a rebuild.

    • @heyjim52
      @heyjim52 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I agree the change from a 4-3 to a 3-4 made it worse and Dan Quinn could build a better defense as a head coach, his current position under McCarthy probably hinders him to build a better defense in Dallas because McCarthy isn't known for having strong defense on any of his other teams. I don't think Seattle's offense is that bad that they need to make a change there , we don't really know if Shane was handcuffed by Carroll , they certainly did not use their tight ends nearly enough and when they did run 13 personnel they were very good just not enough. They brought Waldron in to make a more creative offense but there was no defense good enough to take more risks and to allow the offense to get creative because they couldn't get their defense off the field and when that happens you are playing catch up and that always changes your play calling.

    • @gummiesrule88
      @gummiesrule88 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Not that simple. As Pete would say when asked, repeatedly, his "new" 3-4 had lots of elements of his old 4-3. What Quinn had that Pete didn't recently was more talented players who were viciously competitive. I tend to agree we need a break from the Pete defensive traditions. And perhaps a head coach with experience as an offensive guy.

    • @caseysmith2647
      @caseysmith2647 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is absolutely 💯 true. 4-3 is far superior in stopping the run and pressuring the qb. Especially when you have a great LB group and some good safeties and good corners. 3-4 puts too much pressure on LBs having to take on extra blockers and have to clean up the run game a few yards down field with safeties coming in to help and that Became very taxing on our secondary.. We're a only better defensive scheme and a few big run staffers away from being a formidable defense. On offense were a healthy online away from being a much more consistent offense with a lot of weapons. Now who they going to go for in the draft is the next question?! Obviously if we can get Penix to drop far enough to pick him I'd like that pick but we should definitely get some big boys on that Dline and find a good valued olineman for some depth. Next year is going to be very interesting that is for sure.

    • @caseysmith2647
      @caseysmith2647 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Norcal85 how would quinn be a downgrade? He has history here. A little younger and better roster to work with than the falcons overall. This hawks team is pretty cohesive already. He'd be handed a better situation, a better culture and one's he's familiar with. Js. Your opinion is respectable, no question, it's just a completely different formula and although the falcons had a pretty good team and a great DC and OC they just didn't get the buy in like the Hawks have. I mean they did go 19 and 13 those 2 years but They didn't have the 12s. Sure they had Matt, Julio and freeman, Trufant but you can lead a horse to water you just can't make them drink. I just feel with more experience quinn may be our best fit. I really hate to say it but Harbaugh may be in the running but it would be very awkward. Lol He's a good coach tho. Just would be a bit weird. But those two are who I put my money on. That is if they're even interested. No real news yet.

      Rumor is Jody was actually really furious about the cigars in the locker room.
      Media tried hiding the fact that it’s ILLEGAL to smoke in those buildings and tried gaslighting all criticisms.
      Jody herself had to do some explaining on the teams behalf to some higher ups, and decided Pete doesn’t have a grip on the team any more.
      Team owner should never be in that position.
      People may be mad about this fact, but it’s actually completely understandable...Half Pete’s job is keeping the team in line, and he failed to do that...

    With the exception of the "legion of boom" days, the Seahawks have perpetually suffered from offensive line problems. I don't know if it has been the personnel mix, the direct strategies, the inability to keep opponents second-guessing how to stack their defensive backfield, or what. You'd think with a receiver corps of Metcalf, Lockett, Smith-Njigba, and Bobo that defenses would be off guard and open up lots of opportunities for ground gains. And on the other side, Walker and Charbonnet are a formidable combination in the offensive backfield, and that should have safetys, CLBs and other linebackers playing back to defend against the pass so that the OL could provide the QB with protection as well as fewer people on the line to displace for running plays. It might come down to a play list that just doesn't provide the unknowns. Defenses seem to be able to sniff out Seattle's plays and make defensive calls and adjustments with better than average accuracy. On the defensive side, there's all those missed tackles. It can't be that the players can't tackle. So it must be the lack of a coordinated strategy, or failure to establish cohesion as a unit. I think management wants a more modernized, creative approach to play design, offensively and defensively.

    I think she did it because of the 49ers and the Rams 🐏 success. I think losing twice to the Rams was huge since this year was a rebuilding year for them and the team didn’t have a lot of picks compared to Seattle having all of those picks from Denver and didn’t make the playoffs. He is a good coach, but it was probably time to move on from Pete.

    I suspect the way it went down was that going into the meeting, Jody Allen and Pete Carol both wanted Pete to stay on as head coach. Jody, however, also came to the meeting with a mandate that some changes would need to happen to the coaching staff going forward. Pete being the person he is, with the importance he places on the family culture of his team and coaching staff, could not see a way through (or around) Jody's mandate. As the conversation progressed, I think they both, mutually, arrived at the decision that Pete would go.

      I think this makes sense, and I think (based on his comments) that they key was securing John Schneider's job as head honcho. Pete said, "you wanted to know the details? THAT (pointing to Schneider and referencing his statement that he's proud that John is getting the opportunity to be GM on his own (and remain with the team?)) THAT is why this happened. So I suspect that the narrative that this was a mutual decision was agreed to on the condition that John Schneider keep his job and continue what they're doing. "This isn't about me being the coach. This is about the good of the program."

    It's difficult to justify another chance for Pete considering his age + the defense he fielded for the past several years + the fact that Pete was a defensive expert not an offensive expert. And every year the NFL becomes more offense-oriented and less defense oriented. Pete's last offensive play faux pas in his last SB + Jim Harbaugh's last 3-4 offensive plays in Jim's only SB may be the two all-time worst offensive faux pas in all SBs. (Admittedly, Jim's faux pas may be worse because he called the same failed play at least 3 consecutive times; see Einstein's definition of insanity.) So yeah, it was time to fire Pete.

    What are you talking about Greg? Why would the Seahawks want to hire Harbaugh or Saban? They are worn-out old treads too. Age 60 and 72 respectively. Time for some new young blood.

    It was good firing. Seattle was first in mfc west and drop 4 straight. First time with Pete as coach, losing twice to rams, losing 5 times in row to niners! Seattle has weapons on defense and offense but failed.

    Not Jim.... Not Jim... not the big baby that likes to throw a tantrum on the field. Getting rid of Pete was not the right call, giving him one more year to turn it around and letting him know that would have been the better call. If Jim is the new HC, I'll be taking his years off from being a fan, sorry but I can't do it.

      Now is the time - lots of coaches available and more importantly a good draft for QB's. No-one, offensive or defensive, young or old, wins today without a standout QB. Geno not the answer. Trade up and ge your next QB.

      I am 100% in complete agreement with that sentiment. Can't stand hairball, it would make the team unwatchable, not only because of the personality you so accurately explained, but also because that would be the ultimate slap in the face to Pete, two reasons the Hawks would be unpalatable to watch

    Carroll was right. Rich people who don't know a thing about football do the firing and hiring based on loud mouths on TV's twisted opinions. I always wondered how people could interview for head coaching jobs and determine of the candidate is saying the right things, when the owner knows nothing and GM's usually know nothing either. Now, they will either grab what they feel are one of the better choices out there, or they will collapse.

    I have always been a Pete Carroll fan even back to California. I was a Paul Allen fan. Have definitely NEVER been a Jody Allen fan. I don’t think she know or cares a whit about football or the 12s past her pocketbook. There is more to football except the Super Bowl. In spite of injuries, abysmal referees, transfers, retirements, weather and the mess of College Recruiting we make the playoffs and that is better than most. No thanks to Harbaugh, too much bad history there.
