Not sure highland is coming to the US, its tail light design violates US regulations. The tail lights are completely attached to the trunk, which moves. US regulations require a separate fixed set of tail lights that do not move. It’s why the current M3 (and other cars) tail lights are split, with half on the trunk and half on the bumper. Tesla knows the regulations, so if they intend to bring it to the US not sure why they would design the tail lights that way. They will have to change it for the US market. Edit: Nevermind, looks like the Bolt EV also did this same thing and got away with it by putting tiny brake lights in the lower reflectors in the bumper to skirt regulations.

Absolutely have driven the S with no stalks for two weeks and even had several friends. Drive it to get their feedback. All agree this is not an improvement. This is a downgrade. All the controls on the steering wheel are cumbersome at best. What they should’ve done is just leave the stalks and even make it so that the wiper controls would be done completely through tapping on the end of the left stock all the way through rather than just to get it started. Hopefully they’re going to get this kind of feedback and re-introduce the stalks. I for one am all about improvement, but this will keep me from buying a Tesla again.

Hi Andy, I have a Model S and have gotten used to the stalkless design but I still miss the stalks especially for the turn signals. I still occasionally hit the wrong button or fail to activate the signal on a tap. I see that the horn is now where it should be and they replaced the horn button with a camera button which is really a good change. I have always felt not having the horn in the typical center is a big safety concern. The rear monitor is not particularly helpful to me even when I am driving my young grandchildren. They each have iPads which works out better for them. One feature that they didn’t put on the 3 which I think I would miss is the driver display but I have only driven a model 3 once and that's not enough time for me to evaluate it fairly. I also like the color adjustable ambient lighting which I don't have in the S.
My one biggest gripe with Tesla is the their price adjustment policy for their cars. Substantially lowering the price of their models has really really hurt the resale value of the car for current owners. For me this was a big deal as I took potential resale into consideration when I purchased my latest S vs leasing it. For many, their car is a significant asset and resale value is a consideration.

Good review. Better ride and ventilated seats are my favorite improvements. I got a new Model X because I found the ride very rough in my Model 3 and Model Y. It is great in the X. I'm not sure I am a fan of the rear screen. Passengers tend to fiddle with the temperature, which has meant I have AC on in the front and heat on in the back! As for no stalks, I got used to that in a few days. I predict the stalks debate will be about as abiding as the Home Button on Apple Phones. I can't even remember how I used the Home Button. But the horn is another matter. So far I have only used the horn twice on my Model X to make sure it works. Which means I have to look for the button. That might be a problem in an emergency. I'm glad Tesla fixed that on the Model 3.

yea its getting old people quoting this misleading range. Its basically 300 miles for the standard, and 376 for Long Range -- the question is are they the same batteries in these cars -- its shocking people are ordering these cars, and we dont' even know what battery they are, if the options are inlcuded in all trims etc.

Only the AWD Long Range gets the better speaker set. Also things like Bluetooth need to be updated (newer chip) as the standards evolve, also it has UWB chip for better phone key behavior. It is also expected that the front facing ADAS cameras will be going from 1Mpixel to 5Mpixel which will improve accuracy of Autopilot.

5:25 - maybe better connectivity will lead to fewer times of not having the doors unlock when you first approach the car and try to open the door, and it doesn’t open/unlock, no matter how many times you push/pull the lever and then have to take your phone out of your pocket, open the app, and unlock it that way.

Fog lights: Aren't they required in EU? Did they somehow include them in the normal lights? Or are they not removed from the EU version?
Stalks: Yeah, I don't know - maybe not a deal breaker, but I don't really understand the reason of removing them. Probably something about cost reduction/reducing complexity of the build?
Tail lights: Don't some lights always need to be at normal height, even when opening the trunk? Have some doubts about that, didn't mind the old ones, but not really a minus point for me...
Other than that I like it outside and inside!
Did not quite understand if now all versions have the sub woofers...? So it's not just limited to LR/Performance as it was previously..?

I agree with you on every point: looks, stalks, screens, etc… Range in my ‘21 SR+ is fine - I enjoy stopping every couple hours for 20 min or so, which is what it averages on long road trips I’ve taken. It’s actually a plus, not a negative, in my book!
My FOMO hasn’t been tripped by what I’ve seen with this. It looks like more of an evolution, not a revolution, though I’ll reserve final judgement until I see and test drive it.

Stopping is one thing to stretch and eat but stopping too often and paying more for charging because of that is not good. Charging the least expensive way, at home and then going on a day trip and never having to charge until getting back home is the best thing cost wise.

  • @andrewsteel5271
    @andrewsteel5271 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

The didn’t remove stalks because the were “intrusive”, they were removed to reduce manufacturer complexity and save cost. It’s an example as to how Tesla are able to offer a substantially improved vehicle at the same price while “competitors” are raising prices. The best part is no part.

No stalks is an absolute no-go for me. Here in Europe we have lots of roundabouts - indicating using buttons on a rotating steering wheel in a roundabout will not work. 2:36 Exactly!
I’m terribly disappointed about the missing stalks! This is a Dealbreaker!
    I mean ..REALLY!!??
You have to find a small button on the steering wheel to turn on/off the turn signal. Or the wipers.
And you have to hunt for a small area on the touchscreen and swipe to switch gears (fwd/bw) 😫😢!!
    Are you kidding me, Tesla?
That’s far from intuitive and even dangerous!
    That’s a hefty technical regression!!
Coming from a company that has been known for it’s innovative power.
That’s why this car got worse!
Makes no sense to to me, to say the least.
And this shit will come to Model Y for sure.
Sadly for that reason, my Model Y will be be my first and last 😢.
And as a shareholder, I’m very concerned.

I like the new M3, but since my M3 2018 AWD Red with FSD beta, free premium (ordered mine before 6/2018), stalks are not a problem, I like the crome and since the trade in value is only about $25,000 and with under 40,000 miles; I am NOT going to update. Plan on still keeping my OLD M3 for another 5 years. I also can add a rear screen if I feel I needed it and can put in seat covers that are air cooled for a few hundred $. As my wife has a 2022 MY AWD which is white. That’s my 2 cents. 😮

at 6:48 time, the WLTP range of this new Model 3 still trails that of NIO's ET5 of respective trims. Perhaps, that is one of the reason Tesla has to lower their prices so much in China to compete. Tesla is lucky that no premium Chinese brands are selling their cars here just yet. However, the used car prices of Tesla and new Model 3 and Y prices keep on coming down. Hope this newer Model 3 will help Tesla out. I am a stockholder of Tesla, but not everything that Tesla does is the best in the industry, they still need lots of fine-tuning of their products and services.

This is just my personal opinion, but the stalks aren’t really a total turn off for me. I’ve driven both the Model 3 and new Model X for an extended period of time. It’s a little jarring on your first ever drive with no stalks, but after about a day or so it felt pretty normal. No weirder than going from a gear shifter to a stalk shifter, and everything is right there on the steering wheel anyway. Either way doesn’t make that big of a difference to me lol 🤷‍♂️
