    The more I listen to this EP, the more and more I realize how inspired it is by classical music. Within the absolute monster riffs, I am starting to hear almost an orchestral undertone, which is actually insane.

      Yea that's just mirar for ya, which is very cool. Ever since the beginning, they've had this sort of renaissance vibe to their sound and I love it. The founder of mirar's mother did some of the artwork too, which is really neat.

    good lawd this EP gave me so many riff boners it was insane ive never heard anything like this or anything this creative with a guitar in my life and i loved every second of this EP. i also love how you knew from the little motif at he beginning of Hestehov that "the riff" was going to be in that song because i had the same exact reaction and that might be my favorite song on the album but jeeeez the closer is so massive and amazing. Idk if anyone else heard it but he beginning of the last song really reminded me of the beginning of Mind's Mirrors by meshuggah with how it just sounds like the strings are just flopping against the neck of the guitar. absolutely mind blown by this and the only thing that would top it would be a full cover of literally any song off this because watching them play just blows my mind. Im rambling but also all the classical ambience pared with the "classical" melody choices in some of the riffs are just mmmm chefs kiss

    • @mourn_official
      @mourn_official  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Riff boners lol and no please ramble on, I love talking about music. Especially when it's about the gods like mirar, vild and hlb. I'm glad you noticed that I knew what song it was going to be, from that instagram teaser, and that's cool to know you reacted the same way hahah.
      I didn't notice the meshuggah similarity, but yea I loved how it sounded like it was underwater. I also loved the ambience and classical motifs, mirar has a good sound with it, and it's unique to them now. I love the renaissance vibe you get from them.

    Dude. It is a fucking crime you don't have more subs, you have such wonderful energy!
    This EP hopefully marks a new phase of thall or metal as a whole that mixes the very periphery of progressive arrangement and the sensibilities of classical music wrapped in a THIQUE winter coat. MIRAR is on the come up and I'm so beyond happy they're getting the attention they deserve.

    • @mourn_official

I have a strong passion about showing attention to detail and making sure I'm not on my phone or constantly pausing and talking because I know how much goes into this stuff.
      I like the "THIQUE winter coat" lol that was great. Yea I remember when they had so little monthly listeners, and I think I was actually their first youtuber to put up a reaction video of their music which is really cool to think about, but yea they've come a long way and deserve everything they've gotten so far, and more

    And FYI that first piece "Rachma" takes directly from Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No 2. 1st movement. Which happens to be my favorite "classical" piece. This is literally something out of my wildest dreams. Highly reccomend listening to that piece and then going back to Rachma to hear the connection.

    I really don't get all the hype. It's just low notes alternating with high screechy notes for 30 minutes without any apparent rhyme or reason. Doesn't do it for me.

    • @mourn_official
      @mourn_official  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      I can see that argument, but it’s a lot harder than it seems on the outside. The screeching is even harmonizing with the melodies sometimes, got some classical stuff thrown into the mix here and there. I think the biggest thing is that it’s innovative. It’s not just your typical metal riffs with double bass or blast beats. Part of the thall group that changes the music industry, bringing us something we’ve never heard before.
      Now, I’m not backing it up, giving you reasons why you have to like it. I’m just talking ya. I definitely see both sides, seeing why someone wouldn’t like it. It’s an acquired taste, for sure

      “Without any apparent rhyme or reason” is a pretty boldly ignorant take. There’s plenty of jazz, for example, that sounds like a mess to me. It doesn’t make it bad, it just means it’s not what my ears are tuned into. Some music comes with a learning curve.

      @@SaintGoblin never said it was bad, just said it wasn't for me. I'm not into it for the same reasons I don't listen to bands like Converge, Meshuggah, Dillinger Escape Plan, etc. Sure, they're very talented, but it just sounds like orchestrated noise. I'm more impressed with melodies and harmonies than odd time signatures and screechy noises. To each there own, but my statement was not ignorant, just calling it like I see it.

      @@JohnSimons0314 All metal, and dare I say all music, is “orchestrated noise”. To my ear this has incredible similarities to classical pieces while being distinctly it’s own creation. Generally when you acknowledge skill or artistry in something you don’t use language like “it’s just…” because it’s inherently reductionist. Jackson Pollock just made random splatters on a canvas vs Jackson Pollock’s work isn’t to my taste are two very different statements. You kinda made both. Not to your taste is a fair stance, but going further is ignorant.

    Meh...its just ok compared to other heavy bands in my playlists. I mean, this is heavy, but its also just a complete mess, all over the place, and when i finally think its going somewhere, it just goes off the rails again. And the heavy riffs, while good, get repetetive.

    • @mourn_official
      @mourn_official  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I understand it's not for everyone, but I can't agree with it being repetitive because it's constantly changing like vildhjarta and the older stoort neer. I can see how it feels all over the place, but I think it's pretty strategically structured, and a lot harder to accomplish than you think. I'm not just saying that because I'm biased, either haha ;) but I'm sorry you didn't like it. I hope you like my first release when I'm able to get it finished! Not the same as this.
