New to your channel. My Dad taught me to put a large knife, spoon, fork any clean metal into a glass or ceramic jar before adding hot hot liquid. The steel absorbs the heat so that the jar will not break. Bacon grease is a great example. Love your videos. ❤️🇨🇦
Ali I love this mason jar ready to go idea! how great is that!. Just love how you do things girl! and I’m so glad you keep it real because when the sugar boiled over I could so identify. I just love all your little funny comments they make me laugh. hope you have a great Friday thanks again for the wonderful content!!!!❤
I have an excellent buttermilk pancake recipe but it’s not a shelf stable recipe. Thank goodness you posted this video.🎉 I have those tops for mason jars. A few with handles attached. I just love mason jars in the house, especially in the kitchen.☺️ Tfs. I appreciate all you do. Have a wonderful afternoon.🤗
I didn't even know I had the buttermilk powder in my refrigerator but this made the pancakes so much better! I've made my own mix for years but I like your recipe better. One difference I do is use whey from leftover cheese making (cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, etc.) instead of water or milk. I hate to discard the whey since it's healthy. I freeze it in 1-gallon freezer bags and then decant it into a mason jar after it defrosts and keep it in the refrigerator to use. When the jar starts getting low, I take out another bag and defrost it. I often use whey in place of water in different recipes. Now to make the homemade syrup! That's so much easier than tapping the maple trees on my property 😅
Shewhiz99- I still have a bottle of Mapeline! It's the same one my mother used to make her homemade maple syrup! would make it with brown sugar or dark Karo corn syrup. I really likewhen she made it with the corn syrup.(It was always nice & thick.). Unfortunately, can't eat it anymore.(Have to watch my sugar, cause I'm prediabetic.) When my mother made syrup with brown suger, she just heated it with water, till the sugar dissolved.( never cooked it like this!).
Aaahhh!!! Blow on it 😊💖 Edit: My great grandmother had a son she named, Fahn. He was a 13-lb baby. At age four, though, he got rat poison on his hands and we can only imagine.... 😫
Your alcohol in most instances will be burnt off, but honestly the amount of alcohol even not heated in a recipe is going to to be about equivalent to a ripe banana. People get too excited about this.
Shhh, you can make your own baking powder too! Cream of tartar plus baking soda = baking powder. Just found that on youtube yesterday.

I just made waffles for the family Sunday, with the left over batter I finished cooking them, let them cool and put in the freezer
Just found you. Love to do things from scratch. Thanks.
Glad you found us. Welcome!
I know that is definitely delicious!! Ty for sharing!
I will definitely be trying the maple syrup recipe. Thank you.
Absolutely knocking these out

I love when in smoothies. It’s the perfect tang. I love the idea of freezing it.
Thanks for this tip! I make yogurt weekly and hate to discard the whey.
@@mymagicword I try to use it in a lot of cooking, substituting it for water or milk as necessary
Set a wooden spoon across the top of the pan it helps to not boil over. It works. I set one across my pans all the time.
Mapeline!!! I’m on my last bottle up here in Canada, I can’t find it anymore but was raised on this!
The maple extract tastes the same. The bottle isn’t as old school which I dig, but it still turns out delicious

I know, not my finest moment. I always screw things up when I film. Rat poison?!?! Oh no!
Hi just a simple tip put a wooden spoon. Over your pan and it will not boil over.
Thank you, can i use it to make waffles
If you add an egg it works well for waffles
Does the syrup need to be stored in the fridge?
I do keep it in the fridge. It most likely is fine left out but I do just to be safe
Do you have a recipe for your dog food?
Of course! th-cam.com/video/v_2iwhm5cPo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=g5Y--mb3gcFRA3e3 hope you give it a try.
@@LittleHillHomesteadGa thank you. I will
How do you keep it from crystalizing when it cools?
Don't stir it too much and use the water on the edge. What causes that is the sugar sticking to the edge while you are heating it up.
You can also add a bit of corn syrup to keep it from crystallizing.
Zinc to get your smell/taste back
I’ve been taking it for a long time and nothing 😥 I will continue to try though.
@LittleHillHomesteadGa oh no! So sorry. Love your channel! So glad I found you.
My mom never cussed, she would say sugar foot or start calling out colors, red, black when she was mad
I try not too but sometimes it slips out 😂
I don't understand why people get offended by words
You need a wooden spoon, lay it across the top of your pan. It won't boil over
Blow on it and it will not spill over.
You changed the recipe!!!!! White sugar only!
It’s so much better with the brown added. Try it!

I agree but some people avoid it altogether.
