@@Masta2Playa for sure he is renowned in the SM64 community but in the modding community as a whole I think this guy deserves more praise. I can't think of any one person off the top of my head that has modded any game to the extent that Kaze has.
I nearly cried, no joke. You really can feel the passion you have for this game in this level, it blends in perfectly as just another switch palace that could have been in the game just like this, even though there are quite some changes! Well, that and maaaybe because I'm super sensitive towards game music. May I ask which theme you took for this? Or is it a custom track?
My main thought while watching this was *"What Rainbow Ride SHOULD have been"* Also Cloud Cap in 64 is always a yes Also this is just Nostalgia: The Level, as in I've never even PLAYED Mario 64 and yet this makes me feel weirdly nostalgic. For something I've never even seen before.
Genuinely stunning visuals for a real n64, and looks like a dream to play compared to regular mario 64. I really like the subtle camera sound, its nice to have camera feedback without it being intrusive to the sound design. Fantastic work as always!
Love Cloud Mario so much. I'm kind of surprised you didn't make him a bit floater like he was in Galaxy 2. Regardless it's still great to see the powerup again😩
To those turned off by how choppy the framerate is, look up footage of "real" N64 games running on original hardware - its usually even worse, its just the nature of the N64 hardware, as a very early 3D console that if we're being real wasn't fully up to the task of doing 3D graphics on a large scale. This is actually better than most 1st party attempts of the time, and is simply an amazing result.
powerful, but limited. The PS1 games always seemed to have better textures, models, etc. I think its good we got the gamecube when we did because the N64 just isnt that great of a console, sure it has good games, but thats it. Only good thing about it were the games, mainly first party ones because Nintendo went with cartridges, and third parties decided to ditch Nintendo, most good ones were on PS1.
The only good thing PS1 had was the extra space because of CD-ROM, textures may look cleaner but are very pixelated and they warp and tremble all the time, even the polygons "dance" whenever they want.
I really like this stage and all t he effort you've put into your career at this point, I have to ask, which hack is this for, the mario through time one or the mario 65 one
Typical Kaze quality (i.e. amazing!). What is the name of this mod, please? And I'm *so* glad that it will run on a real N64, we real N64 hardware users miss out on some great SM64 mods, but not with this one!
Unfortunately changing assets won't save you from Nimtendos scopes if they like your ideas much. For example Mario Royale, later aptly named DMCA royale, changed graphics/designs and got hit with double DMCAs so nintendo could release Mario 35, which in its premise, takes inspiration.
@@MrJb935 the dmca royale had more chance being alive than this which is just a mario 64 mod. It's the modified code source of mario 64. Nintendo can't sue or send a dmca him for uploading the patch anyway but the hack is illegal. And I don't know if it's actually doable to replace all assets to a level so that it's not Nintendo's copyright is even possible but it might be an interesting experiment. But he'll have to remove all the unused assets which are from mario 64. And is the mario 64 engine itself copyrighted, I don't know so theoretically it might be legal.

No.

nintendo: ports a 10 year old game for $60
kaze: spends hundreds of hours on free content for all his fans.

This is mind blowing that it’s an actual N64 recording.
Looks great! Really looking forward to this hack 😄
Hi DGR :]
And I'm looking forward to when you make a video on this hack ;)
Me too
This level makes me emotional and I'm not sure why. It has me feeling nostalgic for something I've never played before lol
Probably reminds you of Kirby 64 or Bomberman 64.
Its all in the music
this legit looks official, jesus you're good at modding this game.
This is the bonus level you access by flying into the window on the front of Peach's castle.
You are one of the most underrated modders I've ever seen.
You probably know Super Mario 64 better than Nintendo does at this point.
I feel like that's not even an overstatement
I dont think he is underrated, everyone who knows a little about SM64 Hacks knows Kaze 😅

It's like Super Mario Galaxy, but without planets. WITHOUT PLANETS, CARL! A very cool project!

N64 is way overhyped due to nostalgia, pretty much the only reason its held to that high of a regard is because of nostalgia
