    Hi Engineer Boy, you are the best. Only 2 Engineers teaching Civil Eng. on U tube gives the correct calculation for the bent portion of a crank bar. One don't need trig. calculations to know that a 45 degree triangle ratio is 1to 1 to the squareroot of 2 which is1.414 and not 0.414 ( 0.42 ).I am a Aircraft Mechanic building a 3 story house in Guyana, so i look for technical info. here, but i found that engineers have different standards. Iam confused where to place lap length on the bottom bar of a continuous beam, the same engineer gives an opposite answer at his next lecture. Thanks for correcting that 0.42d to 1.42d. Jagdeez Lal.

    What is the formula D²/162.162 stand for??
    Why u use the formula D²/52.9??

    • @EngineerBoyOfficial
      @EngineerBoyOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both formulas are used to work out steel bar weight in kg. D in above must be in mm where D in below must be in 1/8th of inch. Check the same playlist for derivation.

  • @muhammadbilal7389
    @muhammadbilal7389 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    should the diameter is not divided by 8 during weight calculation ?

    • @drsadaf8114
      @drsadaf8114 ปีที่แล้ว

      That formula has factor 52.09 that is to be used with number of bar.that gives kg/ft then multiplied with total lengh 4 total wt.
      If u use 6/8 ,factor in denominator is changed.and weight obtained would b kg per inch.
      There is also a table that u can google gives u weight per feet for specific dia of bar that u can multiply with total lenght 4 total wt.

  • @SaurabhBhaisare.

    For Cut length of bent up bars you calculate L/4 =10/4=2.5’
    Here concrete cover is not deducted
    So is it correct plz clerify me i am confused or it is L/4=10’-2*(1’’)/4

    • @EngineerBoyOfficial
      @EngineerBoyOfficial  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Its simple dear... 6/8 inches means 0.75". Or if you see inches is divided into 8 parts known by soters.. so 6/8" means 6 soters diameter... remember diameter represents the size of bar...

    • @drsadaf8114
      @drsadaf8114 ปีที่แล้ว

      I in has 8 sotar.
      We divide by 8 the number of bar so 6/8.
      For any number of bar to use in inches divide number of bar by 8 ,like for #3 diameter is 3/8
      #4 is 4/8
      #5 is 5/8
      #6 is 6/8
      For #8 is 8/8 that is 1inch
      For #7 is 7/8 etc
      So on

    • @drsadaf8114
      @drsadaf8114 ปีที่แล้ว

      Number of bar repreasent dia of bar in sotars .#6 means 6 sotar .1"=8 sotar.
      To convert sotar to inch divide by 8.

    • @Engrwaleed555

      @@EngineerBoyOfficial Dear we have to deduct the bents. 1D for 45 degree bend, 2D for 90 degree bend and so on. Some times it may cause problem during cutting of steel on site. If we dont deduct bents then some stirrups might be tight some might be lose. I know some surveryor s don't consider bends during their calculation which is ok but considering bends may prevent site engineer from a headache on site. Nur kho sir jee taso kha poye ge. Za kho staso shagird yam 😁

    • @Engrwaleed555
      @Engrwaleed555 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EngineerBoyOfficial Also the perimeter of the stirupps should be its centerline not its outerside. You calculate it upto outer face. Perameter should be 2(a+b) where a= width of beam- 2*Clear cover - 2*bar dia of stirupps bar. (To reach to the centre line). Same goes for "b". Then ofcourse we add hook length to it (12D is now a day prefer by structural designers instead of 9D) and then we have to deduct the bends. So we have 3 90 degree bends in stirrups, therefore we have to deduct 3(2D) from total cutting length of stirrup bar. We deduct bends because when steel is bend down it elongates at that bending point.
