When I was 12 y.o. my big brother got his first job. Naturally I wanted a job, too. So I asked my dad if I could work in his office. He thought about it and, being a Depression baby, he was thrilled I wanted to work. I worked in his office after school and everyday on vacations for 10 yrs until I finished college. I was taught how to answer the phone, how to work, how to get along with co-workers and how to do what the boss says without arguing. My dad's been dead quite a few years now but one thing I really appreciate about him is letting me work in his office so I would know what work was like. I'll be 64 soon, and I kept on working until I got sick a few years ago but it stood me in good stead and I NEVER was without a job, not ever. Thanks, Dad, you gave me a huge gift that I"ll always appreciate. Work makes people a little better because you have to learn to put up with people you may not like. You learn alot of skills that way.
WOW - so good to hear good comments like yours! Your father was very wise and knew what he was doing. Glad you learn so much and gave you a handle in life on future jobs. Your dad was a top guy for sure!
I'm a millennial and most of my colleagues are, as well. This video speaks truth. So many call in 'sick' so often yet they feel it's appropriate to complain about having no money on a daily basis. They'll also complain about the bosses (who are minimum double their age, if not triple) when they tell them to pick up the pace. It's labour work and the bosses work with us. A 20yr old male shouldn't be working half the pace of a 60yr old man and expect to hear nothing about it.
okeedokee16 I had a colleague that was so good getting sick leaves that she did it like twice per months always on fridays... after she complained of why she was fired XD
No you can certainly blame the person because blaming everything on their parents is a piss poor excuse as to why these selfish lazy ass holes have yet to take responsibility for any choice theyve ever made. Its absolutely pathetic. I will be certain to fire anyone that is remotely like this. Hell they wont be hired to begin with.
I work in the swimming pool industry, hire many millenials each season. A few are decent workers (not much effort involved in sitting under an umbrella get paid well), some however, are so dumb they'll call in sick and then post pics of themselves at a theme park the same day on facebook. I'm not a computer nerd but I can log on to see what a wonderful time they had that day while I scrambled to cover their shift.
Had this happen at my job with my 18-20 year old workers. Im sick I can't come in, but I do feel well enough to go out on my dads boat the same afternoon.
Perry, you spelled millennials wrong,(it's 2 n's)but, it's okay. I guess that you didn't notice that the spellchecker tried to tell you of your mistake but, it's alright. Why don't you take the rest of the night off.
I interviewed a millennial a couple of months ago.HE BROUGHT HIS MOM TO THE INTERVIEW! He was 28. (3 weeks later he would be 29 and wanted his birthday off, despite the fact he hadn't even interviewed yet)
I heard a story where the millennial didn't get hired and his Mommy called up the interviewer up to yell at him for not hiring her son! Maybe her son would have felt better if he got a participant award for being interviewed?
@@THOMMGB No trophy for second place... close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades... if you aint first your last. So tired of the everyone is special awards. What ever happened to competition
I unironically watched one quit his job after 3 months because he applied for a higher position and lost to a guy eho'd put in 5 years of work. He literally couldnt understand why after 3 whole months and not even being past the training phase that he did not warrant the same promotion a 5 year veteran employee with a spotless record did.
About fifteen years ago I applied for a position that had opened up where I worked, although I had only been there a short time, maybe a year. I didn't expect to get the job, and I didn't, but I had an interview with the boss shortly after who wanted to make sure I wasn't disgruntled about it. I wasn't, I just wanted to plant the seed that I was interested in moving up as opportunity presented itself. Over time it has worked out. I'm not sure a kid today would understand the nuance of what I was doing.
Years ago, I had 13 years on the job and trained the guy with 3 years and worked with every day. when the promotion came up and he did not get it, he quit a few months later because he was angry he did not get the position I knew frontwards and backwards and all around. He tried to sabotage me every way he could a year or so before the position came open so he would get the job if I quit. OH, and he was supposed to be my best friend. It's life. 🙄
I used to be an assistant manager at a grocery store where I would routinely work 60 to 70 hour weeks and get called into work in the middle of the night all the time. I went in one morning at 2am to fix the deli department and by noon I finally needed a break. So I told the millennial who as working in the department and got there at 10 am, that I was going to finally take a break and get food. He threw a pan at the wall and yelled, "But I need to take my break! I've been here for 2 whole hours! I need to get off my feet because I'm hypoglycemic! This isn't fair!" I replied, "well I've been here for 10 hours already and haven't eaten this week yet," He stomped his little baby feet and screamed in my face that the reason I was able to work these long hours was because I didn't have a rare blood disorder. I asked him why he didn't make me aware of this rare disorder when I hired him and he said nothing. (Because it was bullshit) So I told him to go to break and go rest weary legs. When he got back from his 15 minute break, which always lasted 35 minutes, I fired him for excessive breaks and he started crying. He got caught shoplifting at that same store a couple of months later and told the cops it was my fault. When the cops had him in custody in my office I remarked to the officer, "don't be too hard on this lad, he can't be on his feet for more than 2 hours because of a rare blood disorder." We all laughed and I won.
Josh Griffin I think we all have had that one coworker on the bright side with them around the workplace decent employees look like incredible employees
Josh Griffin hypoglycemia isn't even a rare blood disorder, it's only low blood sugar. I kinda don't believe your story much, if he was a bad worker early in his job, why didn't you fire him? And don't judge all millenials as being whiny and lazy, I know many who are hard workers, just like in every previous generation there have always been lazy people and hard working people
"These kids are so fucking coddled and can't do anything for themselves" - The people responsible for raising said kids and shaping the world in which they live
@D2M5 I'm a father and I will never blame my children if I give them a terrible education. I'm afraid to tell you, but 100% percent of the responsibility for our children is ours, no matter what the world brings outside of our house, they are still our kids. You say there are too much "advice" on how to raise a child, most of the time contradictory... well, that is not the kid's fault. You should be able to think and to decide properly. It was our generation and that of our parents that create such a mess of contradiction regarding how to raise a kid and will be on our children to find a way out of that mess. Do you want a free advice? Make sure your kids know that you love them (don't forget to use words for that), that you also make mistakes, but overcoming the mistakes and trying hard to do your best is essential. And of course, if you have faith in God, let them see that you live up to your faith. Just as a curiosity, in my country the expression we use for "bad-mannered kid" would be translated to "bad-raised kid", which is ironic because when you use it you are immediately criticizing yourself, although we use it automaticaly without paying attention. But the expression shows who is really to blame.
wildtill9 oh my gosh that’s hilarious! I’m a millennial and I had a boyfriend, years ago, who blew off work for the same reason. I went to work for an 18 hour shift though and he went home to basically masturbate to comfort himself. Yeah, I am so glad we broke up.
allen t You have no idea the depth of how inaccurate that insult was. Sorry your parents didn't teach you better than to associate manners with weakness, and disgusting behavior with strength.
The mystery I want to solve about is how all millennials, including myself, got up one morning and decided to bring back plaid shirts for absolutely no reason.
+danglebeans McSaltygiblets Completely true. However, Millennials can be blamed for the pussification of Plaid. Once associated with only the manliest of men, now more commonly associated with Hipsters (Which is almost the complete opposite of that, sans Beard).
I'm a Gen-Xer and I work with a LOT of Millennials and they have a thing called "mental health day". New to me. Our mental health days were called Saturday and Sunday. You got two per week.
Millennials did not come up with this plan in their diapers to change life as we know it. The Generation of parents have created this pandemic. Not the kids themselves.
My son is a millennnial but he was never coddled by myself or is mother. We made him work hard and have respect. Because of this he is paid very well because kids his same age don't even come close. Millennials should start working hard and you will see that you'll get paid. Take advantage of your lazy peers.
This is what I am currently doing, along with all of my millennial co-workers. I've never understood how my generation gets this reputation. Perhaps growing up in a rural area, in a blue collar state, a heavily republican state. Perhaps from working construction jobs since I was fourteen, and now working as a welder where this shit don't fly. It has never been acceptable anywhere I've went. So I just don't see my generation this way. There are some losers out there, and a lot of weirdos, but they don't concern me.
You seem not to understand what a millennial is. It's like calling a baby boomer isn't a baby boomer.......or even saying someone's not a GENX. It's the time frame you were born in. Can't change it. I'm a GENX. Baby boomers were known as very hard works, (not all, but most). Most millennial's are lazy, ACT stupid and seem to have no drive.
Have a friend that has a business, like me, and he said a millennial came to a job interview with his mother. NOT the kids fault, it's the parents. He said 3 days later............when the kid didn't get the job........his mother came in to my friends place of business and asked why her son didn't get the job. LOL.
Employers complain about the work ethic and attitude of millenials, but they won't hire older workers (like me) who have a proven record of dedication, strong work ethic, maturity, adaptability, and a sincere desire to make a contribution to the team. This caliber of employee is available, but you don't want us. .
No offense, but many of the older workers I have worked with will ban together and try to get rid of the younger people because they see our energy, good attitudes, and youth as threats. They will kiss the boss' ass to not work weekends, and people ive worked with will believe my contribution was actually the old person's contribution, soley because I am young and they are old. Bosses somehow do not fire these trouble makers. I quit the job that did that to me for a long time (somehow did not believe me that the old troublemaker was causing all the mistskes) and started my ecommerce business. That company went out of business and now all the old people are out of a job. I think baby boomers think that the world is still how it was when they were kids. Most boomers hate milenialls because we make them look old. I think boomers gotta get over their own vanity and see its a bloodbath for a millennial in the workforce, good people get taken advantage of and most bosses do not know how to run a company. That's why millenials like me learn to be difficult and assertive when we need to be, cuz it's our fault somehow when we get taken advantage of
Gary Merkel As an entrepreneur I see millennials trying to get spots they have not earned in the least. They want to be the boss without putting in the work or the time. That’s the kindest way I can say it. Lots of millennials like boomers but somehow there is a lack of competitive work ethic like boomers all had.
Everything in this video is true. I have seen it first hand at work. One of my former colleagues, who is a Millennial, quit the pharmaceutical company i work at simply because she wasn't promoted within the 1 year she worked here !! Plus her office attire literally screamed "Look at me and shower me with compliments." I always made it a point to ignore her whenever possible.
The question of the day is, did she have parents?! Hmmm...Now we may have a lead in figuring out who to blame. And who complains about the Millennials? The older generations who would have been their, (OH YEAH!!), parents, (shoulda been) mentors (who didn't give enough of a flying you know what to try) truth tellers etc...
+abstractfacts lol laid back really? our generation perverted the trigger warnings(meant for soldiers suffering from PTSD) too include uncomfortable twitter comments.
I've never worked with a Millennial, but this argument goes back forever. The parents of the 60s were criticizing rock music and thought that Baby Boomer generation was horrible. Get off my lawn! Same as it ever was. But Baby Boomers do deserve some blame, though. The difference, today, is that if you got a useless degree in Women's Studies from Berkley in the 60s, you didn't graduate with $80K in debt and you could still get a high-paying job. A record number of graduates, today, are taking low-paying jobs. A record number are living with their parents at an older age (and now they can stay on Mom & Dad's health insurance through age 26). And the other difference is the USA has not had an annual real GDP growth of 3% in 10 years, which is a record. These Millennials don't know what it's like to have 5-6% GDP like every other generation. Maybe they need to go into a safe place before reading what I'm about to state, but the Obama recovery is the worst recovery this country has had. Just a fact. We have a record number of people on Food Stamps. We have a record number of people not in the work force - 95 million. It's Jimmy Carter 2.0 but the Fed has kept the interest rates low (so nobody is making money from safe investments). Finally, the Baby Boomers have brought in a record amount of cheap labor from India via H-1B visas. Less than half of the U.S. STEM graduates (science, technology, engineering, math) have a STEM job. The wages for STEM jobs have been flat since Bill Clinton! It's up about 1% since 2001! Yet people like Zuckerberg tell us we have a shortage of STEM labor and so we need to bring in MORE people from India, who get paid less than an American and send back billions to family in India, robbing the local economy of that consumer spending. Baby Boomers didn't compete with PhDs from India who make 60-70% the salary.
Bill Thompson Well stated. I agree that it's always been the job of the older people to be critical of younger people because their different. However, I'm a millennial and I must say there's a level of truth to these millennials being lazy. I am going to school and at the same time I work construction and have for a while. Whether it's work or school it doesn't matter. I can do three times as much work in half the time of my fellow millennials. And the sad part is that that is not an exaggeration. It's not like I work excessively hard; I just work at my regular pace and they can't keep up. I do share the quality of being late to work but the truth is compared to these others for work quality, I will be one of the few people who can probably show up late every day and never worry about getting fired because my comrades are lazy and often worthless. When I have worked with millennials, often it is easier for me to do the work myself than rely on others who do the work wrong anyway and then I just end up fixing it. I think the problem is that most millennials just don't care. They think if they get fired they'll find another job. No worries. Most of them have lived on easy street. Not something like the Great Depression where people had to do their very best if they wanted to merely survive. If things don't work out for us, we can just have mommy and daddy help us or better yet, we can have all the hardworking people pay more taxes to take care of us while we sit around and smoke pot. Lol It is motivation that is lacking among millennials. For some reason, these people don't have the drive that previous generations had. A lot of millennials are just content with not moving up the ladder. While hoping that minimum wage will go up or that government will redistribute wealth or something. If you are a millennial reading this, then please take this advice. No one can help you to be successful better than yourself. You are far more capable than you probably give yourself credit for but it will not be easy. You need to work hard. I agree one hundred percent with you about the state of our economy and the poor excuses for president since Bush senior or perhaps Reagan. And not only are we filtering in a bunch of foreign professionals that we don't need. We are turning away tradesmen who are really what our economy needs. People are wanting houses roads, you name it built. But we simply don't have the man power. It may be in part that the baby boom created so many people, now we are trying to run the same workplace with boomers leaving to be replaced by less people and not good workers either. I blame the left for a lot of the mess. They are the ones promoting the idea that we cant make a living so why try. And they are also the best at making that idea a reality by taxing the shit out of every industry. All that tax just raises the price for consumers so we pay all of it. Then they want to raise the minimum wage by some huge amount. All that will happen is that x amount of people will be fired to make the difference or yet again they will raise their prices meaning the wage raise did nothing. And thanks to the government, I pay 20 times what my father paid in tuition and he went to a very prestigious university compared to where I go. I know from simple observation that time value of money is not the cause of that. It has everything to do with the federal government giving massive loans out to every one and the schools knowing that they can charge whatever they want because the government will supply.
*+katanakeith* _"[...] but nowadays he could say that he identified as a woman that day."_ The danger today, is that he could say he is a man, then you reach out to pat him on the head, and then because of "gender fluidity", he could change his gender to female during the time you reach out to touch his head, to the time you actually make contact. Thus, all 'physical contact' applications must now submitted 24 hours in advance in writing and discussed in depth with the HR department to ensure the rest of he workforce can prepare and cater for his/her/it/zim/zee gender decision on any particular day. Thanks feminism...systematically destroying the world one day at a time. And in other news, China discards gender fluidity, focuses on important things, and becomes the most powerful nation on Earth in only a few short years.
I’m apart of the millenial generation to but I am no way near like that when I go to work I punch in, go to the back office put my lunch down and put my phone locked up in locker, and start working very hard and sweating and work work work I’m the hardest worker there probably and even in public I’m not really on my phone I might be just to check a text message or phone call but not be on it at all and I never use social media it’s stupid it’s for brain damaged people
And since, at best, you now 1- 4 of your cohorts (look it up) at all well, why do you feel do you think you are right about Millenials? The same kind of shit was said about my cohots, the Baby Boom people, and it was just as dumb as making global statements like yours about Millennials.
@@brentgolbert2402 Thank you for being kind. I wake up at 4am every morning to get to work 20 minutes early. Most of these comments make me feel even more tired and like I need to try harder but your few words really helped me out today.
My company recently interviewed 7 applicants for office manager at one of our branch locations. This hire would be the first person that customers interact with as soon as they come in the door. Six of the interviewees were millennials (5 girls, 1 guy). The girls had tattoos and piercings. They had smartphones going off during the interview. The guy was wearing tennis shoes and had stubble. They all talked with "ahhs" and "umms". Then the seventh applicant came in. A lady in her early 60's. Dressed in a business suit and conservative hairstyle. Answered all questions clearly and concisely. Guess who got hired.
I created my Millennial but they were taught by me since they were toddlers to do things for themselves. The most important part as a parent I learned is to give your child the feeling of being "independent." That is what I did. Little by little you set patterns first making their beds - even if it isn't perfect, then help with putting their toys away - then helping set the table and or making salads with you together - then you can praise them for their efforts they were 5 or 6 when they were doing more each time. I praised them for their effort and they were happy and wanted to do more! You must start as early as toddler because the personality of any child is set at 7. Both children are grown Millennial and one is an architect engineer like their father and my daughter works for the government like I did and got promotions all the while I was learning new skills and making more money. So you see - it is up to you parents - to take the time.
It's one thing to tell them they are special but the truth is teaching them to be independent so "they" can make decisions. What I learned early on in life - I had to do for myself since no one wanted to help me at home. I self- taught myself and by God - used the library as "the source" for knowledge. This of course, before the "internet" which has the advantage of being able to look up things more quickly. However, I taught my children not they were special but to realized the possibilities that were available to them - I purchase a computer during the early part of the 1990s and despite their father not wanting them to learn I saw the value of computers as a stepping stone for their advantage while in high school. In fact, when they got to college they had the knowledge of software due to my computer. They were so advanced they both thank me for helping them learn computer. They ACE their courses in computer while in Auburn University! Always a parent seeking to help make their independence available. Both are now matured 36 and 35 work one works as architect engineer like their father and the other like their mother in the government. That was their choices! I'm proud of my Millennial because I taught them "INDEPENDENCE" instead of being Special!
Personally I DID NOT create them my wife (now second ex wife) and her mother created my two stupid kids!! I was told to basically "KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT"!!! So I had supposedly NO INPUT what so ever on raising my own kids....so I basically just gave up talking to them or to my wife at all, and rode it out until I was in a place where I could finally escape with what sanity I had left!!
I'm a 21 year old millennial and I work forty hours a week as a landscaper. Don't let the bad apples ruin the whole batch. I manage to survive on 8.50 hour living on my own with no help at all, and I still make more money than I spend. I don't live with my parents. And no not in a college dorm.
Rick russell wrong I live in an apartment and I spend my money wisely so no food stamps or unemployment checks. It's called being smart and not succumbing to impulse buying.
Yea man, I'm also 21. In school while working 30 hours a week out in the cold at the airport. Not enough as i should be working but at least i can admit it. We are rare.
Reading these comments is painful. "I feel you. I'm raising six kids on $7.25/hr while studying Actuarial science at the graduate level. I flip burgers with one hand and read "Actuarial Modeling: Casualty Actuary" with the other. I didn't take a GA position, though, because there are too many millennials there. We're a rare breed, us hardworking millennials."

And in the 60's and 70's everybody wrote songs about not wanting to deal with hippies. What's the difference? Seems every generation is always hating the new generation coming after them. What's new.
I wish just about everyone commenting here would think with this logic. To those who lived in the 50's - 70's, it is not a stretch knowing your demographic made recreational drugs trendy and frequently listened and danced to what was once considered "the devil's music." Yet here you are posing as these supposed perfections of humanity.
As embarrassed as I am of my generation, their lack of work ethic really helped me to stand out no matter what job I was in. So I guess I'm thankful to my peers for that XD
Exactly, I was embarrassed until i realized its funny when people embarrass themselves; especially when there are people like us to capitalize on their idiocy.
As a millienial, this holds true for a lot but not all. The only thing that somewhat hold true for me is the not moving up. I've worked 1 job 7 years, and another job 10 years and people who just started and who I've trained are getting the promotions. I've been told it's because I'm 'great where I am' but all the people I've trained moved up past me and I can't get ahead.
I heard one solution for this is to be proactive -- do a pre-emptive strike and groom yourself for those better positions, and make sure your bosses know you've done so. If you don't get the position anyway then argue your case -- why you're a better candidate than the person promoted, etc. In some companies looking for a better job is also sometimes the only way to get a "promotion", and let your bosses know that you're looking, and why -- they're forced to ask themselves if promoting you or hiring and training your replacement is better. (Often a promise will be made, like "We'll promote you when the next position becomes available". If they lied and pass you over again then don't even bother giving them notice -- find that better job, gather your things, tell your boss you're leaving and why, and walk out the door.) If you find that job tell them you're leaving and ask them, "How do you like where I am now?". Like many supervisors who have no idea who their best or worst employees are (a _very_ common problem) some bosses don't realize they're losing an outstanding employee until it's too late.
@t2k777 I'm a millennial, yes. But I bust my ass off at multiple jobs 7 days a week, for years. I'm not asking for promotion without putting in the loyalty and the work. Clearly, I do well as I'm the one called to train all the new employees *at both my jobs* and, I'm the one they go to whenever they need help. Asking for a promotion in a vacant job, after now working at those jobs now for 8 and 11 years, is not 'entitled.'' I'm surprised that after reading my comment, you didn't understand the context of not just working at a place, but being the one your *multiple managers* trust that they have you train every new employee for years. Seriously, the entire meaning of my comment just went right over your head. Did you feel a breeze as it flew by? Typically, when that happens, that means you're good at your job. The entitlement you're talking about typically means the person is expecting special treatment; and a lot of times, without putting in the work. No, I've been giving 100% for years, I never take days off, I have seniority over *most* of my coworkers, and I'm the one that everyone goes to for help and concerns. Applying for advancement at the jobs I've worked at for years is not entitlement. After this comment a year ago, my coworkers have now noticed and raised the issue with me themselves. They've been asking me, and a few of them have been getting angry on my behalf. As of now, there are no new vacancies at my jobs, but the last couple of times it happened, my coworkers kept asking me if I had applied yet. I did, but still nothing. Now, I'm searching. Only an employer who wants to gaslight their employee to stay under their thumb or an idiot would read that comment above and make an assumption that I was entitled. Remember, when you *assume* you make an *ass* out of *you* and *me*
@gangfire5932 I do appreciate your reply, and I thank you so much. I'm still dealing with this problem, but now my coworkers have noticed and have been speaking up with me. I'm now searching for something better because cost of living has gone up, and the same groceries I get cost so more than what they did years ago.
@joe poe, nope. in some cases there are exceptions but there are just as many in older generations. my sisters both had kids at 18 and both moved out at 18. i did the same at 18, and i was born in 88'
Well since we only have your side of the story, I will reserve judgement. I have worked with a ton of millennials, and this video is spot on. They are largely lazy, self entitled brats who have no concept of workplace ethics. They are selfish and since most workplaces do not give out 'participation' awards, they have an immediate identity crisis. Better off letting them stay in their safe place.
Even worse than the Millennials are the kids in the Middle Schools now. I call them Generation Snitch. I never saw students before who go complain as often about what a teacher might say in class that makes them "offended" or "unsafe". They are quite treacherous to be around and are sure to make any work environment lethally toxic.
i had an employee ask me when she was gonna get a raise... mind you she only works 2-3 days a week if we are lucky and and has the most basic results of everybody. I rolled my eyes.
In all honesty, it's not always the parents fault. it's not only the parents that raise kids it's society and media that raises us. Parents can do so hard and trying to do good ,but society and media really teach them other things. Sincerely a millinial
@@darrellclark7541 So true. You can teach morals and work ethic all you want, but the public school system (6-7 hrs a day), media (bombarding them on every social network platform), and Hollywood (teaching that being a violent reprobate is cool) all work against you. Peer pressure is also a huge thing to young minds. It's natural to want to conform & fit in....regardless of your parents' opinions.
Preston Smith just remember we hold all the cards take away there social security check because why should us millennials pay for those who bankrupted the country and called us lazy while we worked for 20% less then they made 20 years ago while working double the hours. inflation destroyed our futures at the cost of providing them comfort.
Preston - if you're working hard be proud of that fact. Remember, it does pay to do your job well and keep pushing yourself. I always felt good knowing I could create better forms and quick references because my mind was always trying to find ways to do the job quickly which also help staff. For this I may not have gotten a raise - but got commendation and admiration for my skills which eventually I got a lot of promotions. By the way this was before computers which makes our work easier than a typewriter.
Oh god, the minimum wage - living wage bullshit discussion again. I would explain to you how the minimum wage is just that - MINIMUM - and that it was not intended to be a living wage. Then again, since you are most likely earning minimum wage and have been for YEARS, I will come to the VERY likely conclusion that you are not intelligent enough to understand this explanation. I actually pity and feel sorry for you.

This would be funny if baby boomers were able to say they had basic computer skills. Come on guys, without us how would you access your e-mail at work?
+ejstrayer that doesn't mean most of them know how to use it. most baby boomers are shit with technology and can't wrap their heads around the most basic office programs. oh, and "computers" have been around for a long time. way before baby boomers; just goes to show you that baby boomers have no idea what the fuck a "computer" actually is.
I'm not sure what is worse, your Asperger's-tier comment, or the 38 who gave you a thumbs up. Baby boomers invented or made everything around you, including the toilet you sit down to pee on.
+Tod Gallagher I can't tell you how many times I've been asked the most basic computer questions by someone with a Windows 98' MCSE Degree proudly displayed on their cubical wall. Road Rules yes they are stfu . I have never met anyone like this. Granted I do not and have never worked in a corporate setting , so on second thought, maybe it isn't
not too far from reality at all... my millenial collegue asked me "...do you ever have a day at work when you just don't feel like it?" - "yeah, now and then there's bound to be a bad one..." - "man, i'm not making it today, what do you do when that happens...?" - "uhm... what? it's the job i have, when it's tough you don't enjoy it, but you just do it anyway... cause... that's the job!" he did not see it my way and just got up and left for the rest of the day, cause it "wasn't fun that day" or "he didn't feel like it, really". his mindset blows my mind, but there you have it...
Erik Markus: When it comes time for a promotion you will be chosen before someone with a mindset like your colleague - unless if the colleague is related to the boss or the owner in which case, that just sucks.
Don't forget about micro-aggressions, look it up, ridiculous. This quote fits it best, 1944: 18 years storm beaches, jump from planes, charge into almost certain death. 2015: 18 year olds need a safe space. Because words.
Friend of mine was truck driver hauling loads of gravel. The company owner hire his nephew to be Jimmy's helper. 1st day he pulled up to gate of quarry, stopped, told kid to hop out and open it. Kid said: I was hired as a helper. You get out and if you can't get it open I'll get out and help you open it. Jimmy opened gate then yanked punk out and locked the doors left him standing there. His boss laughed arse off when told. Wouldn't even send kid a ride. Got to learn somehow.
That's exactly how parents of millennials raise their kids. "Here you go, daddy will do it and you help ok? " Previous generations were, "Figure it out yourself dummy. And make it fast because I'm kicking you out when you're 18".
Jimmy sounds like the kind of dude I'd like working with. Put the punk in his place, although I would have probably gotten fires for slapping that smart mouth punk in his face.
I had one take a day off to go interview for another job when he had no vacation or sick days. I very honestly, quite emphatically wished him the very best of luck with the job. Then he came back and put in his two week notice, then asked if he could just quit early after the third day which I, of course, agreed with quite cheerfully. Processed his paperwork that day. Next day he came back to work like he hadn't just quit the day before because it turns out the job he was sure was in the bag wasn't. Sorry, already turned in your termination. Good luck in your future endeavors. Don't know if he ever tried to get unemployment, I hope it was contested by the office since he quit and I have witnesses to it. Same asshat tried to get employment from the company he worked at before after being fired for threatening his supervisor with violence in front of multiple co-workers and clients.
No one has the right to "NAME" a group of millions and then pretend this name means something of value or describes them all accurately. Naming is just another way of discriminating against people you don't even know.
@RØNIN Boy you are dumb!! How did you come to the stupid conclusion that I am in any way entitled? As per the usual, you made it up, hoping to have a bullseye. Instead you just have your usual bullshit.
More than once we've had a young person work with us old folks, and they almost always say that they like working with us better than their peers. When I asked why, they almost always say "work ethics".
Oh my fucking god, I work in supervision, and I can tell you this is so true. Just yesterday, I had a guy that could not understand that if he needed some supplies, he was supposed to go to the supply room himself and get what he needed. And that's just one example.
how's this one. I had a newbie try and cut wood with an abrasive cutt-off wheel (like an angle grinder mounted as a drop saw). I start smelling the disc slowly burning it's way thru the wood and turned around to see what was burning. We had wood saw mounted 3 feet away..... I wonder how HR even sends us people so inexperienced.

I am a "Boomer" and work with Millenials. I was told by my boss' boss, (also a Boomer,) that out of my co-workers, I have the strongest work ethic and can work circles, both time wise and physically, around my co-workers even though I out-age them by almost 30 years. One takes time off just as soon as he earns it, another comes in late almost every day and does only what is expected, (absolutely NO initiative,) and brings his tablet in with him so he can play his video games. Another is a "buck-passer" and rarely completes a task on his own and had been caught more than once taking two lunch breaks.

Ummmm, yeah. It's also called "being an adult" and contributing to society. That's what society needs more of. Hard workers who pay taxes and earn everything they have.
This is real. During one of those company management training sessions, they actually informed us that this new generation of workers need to be given constant positive reinforcement. This is in contrast to previous generations who would just put their head down and come back when it's done.
Yes. Exactly. I am generation X and I was taught hard work and working longer hours. There’s a thing called put up and shut up. Something millennials need to learn.
yea , what ever happened to the old school thought of ''just sit there, watch the world burn and get fucked ''. the nerve of people to demand a better living.
I'm 18 years old and a welder at a military submarine facility and get paid $15 an hour this video makes me proud of myself of not being a stereotypical millennial.
That actually sounds like a cool job. Girl: So, what do you do? You: I build submarines with my bare hands. Girl: Here's my number, text me. (I was going to say call, but that would show my age)
I had a 29 year old come in for an eye exam, he asked if I take credit card for payment, I said yes of course, he said "Great my Mom will be calling in to make payment over the phone", he wasn't embarrassed at all, as if it were her responsibility at his age.
It could also be due to Bidenflation and only three years of true real-wage growth since 2007. I had to have the same thing done recently even though I am making more than I ever have and have improved my spending habits.
This is hilarious! By some definitions, I am the very oldest end of the spectrum of Milennials, and by other definitions, I'm among the youngest GenXers. I think I'd be what they call a Xennial. I've seen some of these immature behaviors among people my age, but it is more common among those younger than me--but definitely not universal. I've been happy to know people with good work ethics from all age groups.
I call our generation a Transitional Generation. I have keyboard/mobile in one hand, and pen and paper in another. I can blend into a work place with tons of 20's and tons of 50's/60's.
In the mid-90s, there was a similar view toward GEN X. I remember a similar video of young adults coming to work in flip flops, and surfing outfits. It's just a rotation of the times. Soon, Millennials will be talking down to GEN Z.
and the same crap held true of baby boomers.....remember the hippies and how anti establishment most others were in the me generation? well they all became yuppies. i was born in 63 and i can't stand most baby boomers. allow me to list the reasons: extremely stingy, ego driven, backstabbing, hypocritical, self entitled, self important, super whiny, mean spirited, overbearing, self indulgent and they love to look like they're changing the world when all they've done is trash the environment, let psychos into all levels of government and pump out those rotten millennials. hell where do ya think the brats came from? here's a good one: they want to stamp out world slavery (an honorable goal), yet they try to get everyone else to do their work so they can climb the corporate ladder which is stealing someone else's labor i.e., slavery. shitty ass generation. poor job all around. p.s. you boomers' brethren around the globe aren't any better. can you say genocide?
oh, that already started. My opinion is that people that buy into the "generation" concept are heavily mentally challenged. I mean, if you have an ounce of common sense, you would understand that those generalisation are completely non-factual
Scott finally, someone who gets it. "The children now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise."- F-ing Socrates.
Dakota Bledsoe The majority of Millennials were raised by baby boomers. The majority of generation X are raising gen Z. Sorry to break it to ya. Edit.... To go even further, gen x is from 1965 to 1979. That means the earliest gen x parents would have to have been birthing babies when they were 14 years old to make 'millennial' babies. I was born in 75 (gen x) and didn't even graduate highschool until 93. A very small handful of 'late' millennials were birthed by gen x. The baby boomers birthed the majority of the millennials.
Some millennials figured out that society has already died and will not offer them anything for working, others simply want to be given everything for doing nothing. It will seriously go wrong in a few years. Meanwhile the older generations are saying nothing about the '000s% inflation since the 70s which wiped out the ability for the newer generations to pave their way, while also expecting to live out the rest of their days on their pensions. Shockers coming all around!
As a baby boomers - I believe in helping the next generation and my wish is that they try and become determined to stand on their own two feet and work hard like we did. Also, "to save" a little even if it is $10 a month is better than nothing. Believe me, if I were a young person I would be working several jobs which I did in my 50s to have enough until I found a job that would provide enough income. Always took tests and try for better jobs so I could work less hours and save money. That to me is the "key." Also, don't be afraid to learn new software which is a plus - nothing is impossible if you try. I was given this motto in high school, "Never Give Up!" I never did!
+Angela Carleton ok it's a little soul crushing when you look on your tax page and see that your pension will kick in at 70 and your paying through your eye balls for rent. Just as a note.... I haven't been on holiday since I was twelve, I have an original iphone that is cracked and split but it still works so I use it. I understand what your saying but the economy and housing situation isn't what it was and it's getting worse......
+Angela Carleton oops nope I was wrong 75 is when my pension is supposed to kick in but I already know that is a LIE I will never get my gvt pension (even though I always pay my way and work very hard). We already know our pension is being spent NOW and that we will get told we have to work till we die. I pay into my private pension pot so hopefully that will be enough :/ I don't know though.
You might not know this but it's because in previous generations if you wanted to get a raise or be promoted you had to go above and beyond the bare minimum duties of your job description.. you had to prove to your employer that you were a valuable asset to the company and capable of the bigger responsibilities of a higher position.. doing exactly what you were told is what pretty much 99% of employees do and not really worthy of a raise..
@@mikekasich836 No, in previous generations there were labor unions that forced the employer to pay their workforce higher wages. Doesn't matter, if you are worth a higher salary or not. If you don't have the negotiation power provided by a labor union, you will not get a raise.
@@frequentlycynical642 Even 20% is a substantial amount of the labor force with considerable negotiation power. Shows only, that you need no "majority" to make changes.
If this is what baby boomers think of millenials, I wonder what the silent generation (Great Depression, WWII) thought of the baby boomers (Civil rights movement, sexual revolution).
They hated them. Every generation after them has gotten increasingly shittier! I bet this offends you, doesn't it? You can tweet about it, ya know?: #imapussy . Take a sad selfie and post it on Instagram, then you can post about how cyber bullying of one man's inane, sarcastic comment pushed you to the brink of needing a mental health day. Ohh new hashtag:#endcyberbullying. Then run a campaign against it with some dipshit celebrity that doesn't care about world hunger. They just fucking care about "cyberbullying" instead...of...ending...fucking...world...hunger...or aids. That's right that's what this generation cares about. But you're not a true millennial until you've gone off on a Starbucks barista for putting dairy milk in your drink instead of soy shit. "What the fuck!? Dairy? Um...have you ever heard of animal cruelty?", you'll kill a plant, but not an animal that would eat you if the tables turned. Makes sense. Oh, almost forgot, don't forget to get that new selfie stick when you buy your new Caitlyn Jenner mag for happy fun time! Millennials will praise an alleged murderer that thinks he's a woman. Wtf. He allegedly killed someone in a car accident. I only eat cruelty meat! That's right mother fuckers it has gluten in that bitch too lol This generation hates freedom of speech, truth, and lacks the ability to take a joke. Go ahead prove me right. It's fucking sad, but I don't think it's all of them. The ones that aren't like that will be the generations leaders.
*****, if you, sir, are implying that I'm too old to know what TH-cam is, then you are sadly mistaken. I am actually thirty years of age. I'm actually fed up with my generations actions as a whole, which include a high level of narcissism, blindly following what the media tells them to do, and, of course, being offended too easily and being highly letigious. I think the baby boomers are dipshits, too.
LOL maybe. Do I think every Millennial is like this? No. But for the ones that are, yes, I fucking can't stand them. They are a bunch of whiny pussies that can't take a joke. Some, not all them though.
Norman Wells "triggered" or "triggering" I think refers to the original meme of a feminazimillenial getting offended about something that is not politically correct towards their entitlement.
"Trigger" is a word used in psychology to reference an event/word/image that triggers victims of PTSD. It is most common in referring to war veterans and victims of sexual assault. My grandfather is triggered by certain questions about Vietnam, or if he is scared/caught off-guard. I have worked with abused women's shelters and things like yelling, violent speech or even the sound of a car horn can be triggers reminding them of the abuse and triggering a fight or flight response that cannot be controlled. Preliminary medicines utilizing psychedelics have shown promising effects in decreasing these episodes and stabilizing brain chemicals.
Our fault. We spoiled our kids. And to those saying these are just the normal growing pains every gen goes through. No they aren't The level of entitlement in millennials is shocking. They openly voice levels of expectation (most often with little or no foundation to suggest they deserve what they expect to get) that would be shocking 30 years ago. But for all that. It's gen X's fault. They are our kids - and we spoiled them.
Even if you raised (or at least tried to) your children right, you would still have no control over the things they learn from their peer group and society as a whole. If I see what is going on on university campus in America these days I'd say that 3rd wave feminism has the lion's share in causing all these problems.
alter3go I'm inclined to agree with that. When feminists ban Germaine Greer talking on university campus because she isn't radical enough - you know something has gone seriously wrong.
As a millennial I would love a followup video: _"Boomers working remotely during the pandemic - IT department mental health and motivational speech"_ . During the first months of this pandemic the IT-servicedesk at my previous workplace got totally overloaded with remote working boomers calling in, all asking utterly stupid questions. I worked there as software engineer and it got so bad that our entire R&D team had to postpone their own tasks, all to fall in as 'teleworking baby-boomer IT-servicedesk'. I did multiple remote desktop sessions with a couple of boomers and now I'm wondering why our system praises 'experience' as baseline for pay. At the snails phase boomers move their mouse cursor, I do in one day the same amount of work what they do in an entire workweek. As a millennial I've already quit former workplaces two times in the past 3 years. I don't swap jobs because I give up on my work, I swap jobs because I give up trying to energize a bunch of passively unmotivated know-it-all baby-boomers where I'm forced to work with! I understand that my time on this piece of space-rock is limited, so I don't like people who waste my time! PS: Boomers questioning the loyalty of my generation, each time I ask for a raise I get laughed at, each time I quit for another job I get 15-20% raise! Loyalty comes from both sides, get used to it!
Are you aware that Boomers invented the technology and installed wide area networking as it is known today? I was part of that. If you’re not a registered professional engineer, you’re just a college graduate in software development; not a software engineer.
@@David-hm9ic Boomers invented lot's of stuff, under apprenticeship and leadership from their senior generations. Millennial's are stuck with an indecisive senior generation that keeps going in circles endlessly. A senior generation that lack any form of managerial and leadership skills, which could probably explain the failed parenting strategies most boomers applied while raising their millennial offspring. I'm a millennial myself and even I find most people of my generation kinda lazy, that's why the generalization in this video annoys the heck out of me. Just like you get annoyed when I generalize your generation. My first job right after graduation was in a software development company. I (as junior) found a major security bug in their networking stack within my first workweek, after my discovery their head engineer (boomer) started insulting me on a daily basis. As I couldn't do anything good anymore for that person I left for another company after a month. At my second job I worked for 1.5 years straight without taking a single day of, after those 1.5 years I quit because those boomers in management hadn't made 1 single decision or set 1 single priority during that whole 1.5 years long time-frame. Decisions and priorities that would create a more structured work environment for all dev's inside their company. The current company I work at has exclusively millennial's in management and as employees. Yes we all lack experience and constantly make mistakes, but making mistakes is part of progressions and means that decisions are made. It's easy for boomers to never make mistakes when they never make decisions while in management! Oh yeah, as a lazy millennial I also parttime freelance during evenings and weekends besides my fulltime job. PS: While I have the right degrees to call myself an engineer, I don't get what a piece of paper has to do with millennial's in the workplace. To be honest, I find it rather disrespectful to refer to people without an engineering degree with "just a...". That stupid piece of paper doesn't make you any more special than anyone else on this planet! The best 'engineers' I've worked with in the past had often no degree at all, that's because they actually understand what they do while most MSc owners just memorized everything from their textbook for their exams.
@@timmy7201 I'm a "boomer" and software engineer and never had 1/2 the problems you're whining about. I think you're projecting your insecurities on "boomers". If it wasn't "boomers", you would be projecting/blaming some other group.
@@christophschwarzherz5909 Have you (as a boomer) ever thought about the fact that this video targets, projects and blames the millennial generation for 4 minutes straight of being lazy? Yet when the millennial generation goes into defensive mode, they're the once blamed for blaming other groups... The irony is very strong with this one! Aren't boomers projecting their insecurities on millennial's as well, following your logic? I'm convinced that boomers are a generation filled with very loyal and hard working people, thus good at working for a boss. However, the 'boomer' generation has never learned any leadership or managerial skills themselves and thus su** at it. It's mind-numbingly tiresome to work for a boss that never sets any priorities, or calls everything top-priority. It's frustrating to work with people that look down on younger generations, don't listen to them and plain-out ignores their existence at the workplace. It's infuriating when those same people make fun of us millennial's their ideas, yet steal our ideas the day after and run of with all the praise. I'm not saying everyone from the boomer generation is part of the issue, just like not all millennial's are lazy. There are many people from the boomer generation that respect younger people and are nice to work with. But just like there is some truth in many millennial's being lazy, there is some truth in many boomers being stubborn and impossible to work with. I've no issue as a millennial to work 100+ hours a week, if (and only if) I see the progression and results of my work combined with personal or financial gains. I'm an employee to my boss or client, not their servant who constantly works unpaid overtime!
The public library close to my home is like a day at the park, noise and all. I remember when libraries were quiet and people could actually read and study. Now, it is like being in a public park playing frisbee with your dog. Laughing, talking, playing games, chasing each other, knocking chairs over and yelling. It is unbelievable, and staff says absolutely nothing because I was told, the offenders must be allowed to express themselves.
I have this experience in churches. Priests are so terrified of losing members of the congregations that they won't instruct parents bringing small children to keep them quiet.
I know! The writing doesn't get any lazier than this. The only thing that I can think of is the terminology of the generations aren't as well known, so the "premise of the joke" doesn't land. You could easily do this skit without labels, and let your audience decide who needs to Prime some next day boot straps.
As a millennial, this is genuinely funny. I certainly recognise these attitudes, but it is obviously hyperbolic. I do think though that boomer's perception of millennial expectations is clouded by the fact that they don't think workplaces ought to be fair, or just, or enjoyable. To boomers, the only important virtue is 'getting your head down', and employers don't owe employees anything. I think millennials just have more enlightened expectations of work - there's nothing wrong with demanding to have a good work life balance, to be respected, and to be given certain basic rights. Boomers at least had the advantage of an environment where hard work actually paid off, and real wages could be expected to be a certain level. Millennials have grown up into a world where real wages are stagnant, and hard work just gets you more hard work with little expectation of improving your condition - that's if you're lucky enough to have a stable job, and not be working for below minimum wage in the gig economy. So aside from simply wanting fairer working arrangements, I think there's a degree of cynicism underlying many millennials' attitude to work - we know perfectly well that trickle-down economic models aren't playing out as expected, that we're perpetually saddled with consumer and student debt, and that our jobs are precarious.
I have a degree in women's studies and I've been here for ten minutes. Where is my corner office and how much vacation do I get, four weeks or six weeks?
Then find a job that offers that and don't bitch about not being paid enough all the time. You work 40-60 hrs a week to provide for your kid. If that's not working for you, go to school and get better qualified, or find a lesser job that allows you to spend time with your kid. Everything in life is a tradeoff; grow up.
fuck off fat ass, i have an education, i make 35$/hr doing ironwork, yeah i work hard so i can retire early and enjoy my life, i doubt you would last a week working on my crew
I understand your point, and yes, sometimes you have to suck it up a bit, but you're also part of the problem. I'm not a millennial, but there's a marked difference between doing minimal work and expecting huge benefits and simply expecting jobs to respect their workers without treating them like dispensable garbage. Plenty of Europe manages to strike a decent work/life balance. It doesn't make you a lazy piece of crap to both work hard AND expect to derive a reasonably degree of enjoyment from life. Don't buy into this mindset that everything has to be a 12-hour slog until you burn out and drop dead. That's neither good for employees nor employers.
There's a huge difference between the entitlement I highlighted and the problems of work/life balance you bring up. Since you are off topic, I'll just leave it there.
The work ethic has seriously degraded, and the need for praise is amazing. I just fired a guy from my division for chronically being late 5-10 minutes a day. Right up to the final step he was still unconvinced it would happen, even though he was told it was a direct consequence. In his exit interview he looked at me and said "Five minutes...seriously?" I pointed out we had twenty applications from equally-qualified people for his job already on file, and would get more before we closed the application window.
Well I guess if you work at McDonalds the workplace schedule needs to be strict. In my case, I have been chronically late for years, but since I work in an industry that cannot easily replace highly skilled employees, they made an exception with me, plus well, I couldn't go to sleep any early because of shitty neighbours having dank habits of being extremely noisy between 11:00pm and 02:00am (no kidding). The 8-4 or 9-5 day, is ancient and needs to be changed. Flexibility is what needs to be achieved throughout most of the working world, unless you're in e.g. the food industry, transportation, or other areas where you need to be "on time". In office jobs where you just sit at a cubicle and don't interact with anyone, you don't need to be at work 9am sharp. Note: I'm not a millennial as per birth date, but I have the same habits. Working in a job where you need to be creative, is not where you need to be 9-5 sharp as being rigid kills creativity.
Wow. You can't meet standards? How sad. We get applications every week. The colleges keep cranking out people with degrees far in excess of the job pool awaiting them. For what we pay, we can pick and choose.
Jd Smith You probably pay minimum or low wage, for a job that requires minimal brain capacity and function. I am a professional hacker and has been that for several years on a full-time basis. You missed the point of my comment which clearly demonstrates that you're blinded by bias. Doesn't surprise me though, most people are unable to think beyond "the little box" that everyone needs to fit into, in their little world.
but that kind of work is beneath the Millennials....they want top tier "professions" and top wages right out of the hiring gates......why would stoop so low and work a slummy job like Mcdonalds etc? LOL
Because working a low wage job keeps us homeless. Working minimum wage jobs won't afford us the luxury of a 1 bedroom apartment or even a studio in some areas of the US. So we go to school, graduate HS, get a degree in our field, and you want us to work at McDonalds when we have our Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Public Administration, Business Accounting, or Clinical Psychology? That makes perfect sense...
Captain it doesn't work that way. I hear what you are saying, and I am 41 and right now unemployed. I am about to take a 50% paycut why? Here is why drum roll please ..... EMPLOYERS DON"T GIVE A DAMN about YOU. Nor should they? WHy do you feel entitled to survive in a studio? What makes you so special that you need a job? Or a job with a living wage? You want $70,000 a year? Why do you deserve it? I have 7 years experience. YOU don't. It is not fair to me or anyone with experience for you to make what I want to make. Fair and simple. If 5 people jump for a $70,000 a year job then who should get it? The whiny kid who has no experience? Or the one who has 7 years experience with references and worked very hard over the years to earn it? The later. I worked at Taco Bell after graduating and substitute taught while my wife screwed around with other men. Had to move back in with my parents at 30. I took any job I could get and worked my way up and hell be straight I will get that job before you any day as there are not $70,000 a year jobs for every person who needs one. They go to those who have experience starting at McDonalds. At $35,000 I will take a McDonalds candidate over some kid with a degree who never worked before. The Mcdonalds candidate knows customer service, worth ethic, and difficult stressful working conditions and stuck through it.
From my understanding they are running our military now. The military has made them even feel extra wanted by replacing old barracks into college like rooms. They say the military is like having a civilian job now. Call in sick whenever you want, expand the family unit for husbands and wives. Enough said
@@jayrider2726 I was a Marine up until eight years ago and it still sucked total ass then. I hope it hasn't changed that much because I went through some real shit to get this free college. But you know what they say. Hard times make hard men. Hard men make easy times. Easy times make soft men. Soft men make hard times.
That would be a perfectly reasonable view. But what you are forgetting is 3 highly party political initiatives in the 2nd half of the 20th Century. 1. The state decided on its own authority it was going to take a greater role in rasing said children. Its now reached the point where parents truly are only nominal parents. 2. The state decided on its own authority that it would no longer simply try to educate children, it was going to indoctrinate them instead....and with some truly poisonous values to boot. 3. Party political systems of government sees votes (and by extension the voters) as commodities. Any political system that views people in this way has a very big incentive to construct a society that millennial generally (though certainly not all) espouse, want to perpetuate and expand. The more reliant they are on government the more government controls us all. Now I am sure that although post war generations didn't want a world where their kids would be slaughtered by politicians for fake reasons, they also didn't want a world where they would be enslaved to them either. Its is possible to want the one thing without the other. Unfortunately politicians are virtually universally so criminal that for them its an either/or choice. For without it we will view them with the level of contempt and hostility they reserve for us.
As a millennial, I feel this is pretty accurate for a good portion of millennials out there. I’ve ran into many issues with my own generation, and couldn’t believe how hard it was to work with my own kind. That being said, the newer generations are worse. Nothing against them, but man getting through to them is harder than the work itself. Society and lazy parenting is the main reason why this is getting worse as time passes on.
We also were expected to work on wages that were 40% those of Boomers, have college fees that are 300% higher than boomers of the same day in 1960, they had pensions for working for only 1/4 of a lifespan (meaning that they could amass multiple pensions and actually live and retire comfortably), and benefited from high investment from the government and education. Basically Boomers had everything handed to them, and got a job if they could breath air.
@@smithhoowe "Basically Boomers had everything handed to them, and got a job if they could breath air." Oh, yeah - and we could retire by the time we were 20 and just fly around the world in our private jets and party and snort cocaine with the Rolling Stones while our children were cared for by nannies until they were old enough to go to private schools in Switzerland and, and - well, let's just say, for us Boomers, life has been just one big laugh-riot. My biggest problem now is what to do with all this space in my house, which is as big as a small city, and my biggest worry is whether my personal army is as content as they seem to be .....
@@smithhoowe You are delusional with facts from You Tube. How many college 15 yr olds do you know in college? That's how old the oldest boomer would have been in 1960. I think you're talking about the silent generation (the parents of most boomers). Most boomers were smart enough not to go to college unless they needed to be doctors, lawyers or another profession that requires a college ed. Tons of boomers went to trade or business schools. If millennials were smart, they would too, but "no," millennials would rather drown in debt and go to clown schools. I paid off my school loans working whatever shift paid the most, overtime, weekends and holidays. Was it fun? Nooooo!!!! It was awful, but now I have a comfortable life. Watch successful people and do what they do. That's what I did. And for heaven's sake, if you're still living with your parents (unless you're a caregiver) move out! You'll not grow up or be respected if you don't.
Many milleniels were raised by parents who doted on them, treated every little detail of their existence, especially their "happiness", as though it was life and death. Those kids grew up thinking their happiness was the most important consideration of all. Former generations realized that the OPPORTUNITY to get a job and PROVE themselves was THE GOAL. Millenniels get a spot and think that the workplace should adapt to THEIR NEEDS, and that employers SHOULD CARE whether they are happy! What a culture shock when they find that in the real world nobody really gives a darn whether you are happy. What you will get is a pink slip if you don't do your job. It is a matter of attitude, success or failure, and they don't have an attitude of gratitude for a chance. They've never had to prove themselves, and they are lost in the real world.
Being spoiled is the worse thing a parent can do to a child. They become self-entitled - which is what happened to my half brother- he is now impossible and try to scam the EBAY while he was unemployed. I was so devastated and try to explain to him - instead of doing things the proper and ethical way - now Ebay refused to have him participate in their company on the internet.
I was born in '88 and that makes me a millenial. I wouldn't call what my parents did "raising". Split family and neither of my parents gave enough of a damn to teach me anything about how the world works, let alone any practical skills to help me on my way. I'm 31 years old now and still trying to figure it all out by myself, one step at a time. So yeah, I ain't perfectly capable. But I always give a 100% and I'll be damned before you hear me whining about work. And you won't catch me lying or cheating either. I'm up front about my short-comings and I'm morally upstanding. How about you? And I care about my happiness. It's worth more to me than money or luxury. But if you think I'm happy you'd be wrong. I've been increasingly depressed since I was 14 years old. I didn't get doted on. I got fucking ignored, unless of course my emotionally screwed up mother decided to wake me up at 3 in the morning to yell at me for no particular reason. That sound like entitlement to you? How about we stop categorizing people by the fucking year they were born. And if you're intent on doing so anyway, how about you at least TRY to consider what influences went into causing the shit you're complaining about? You know...because the world you helped shape is the world we grew up in? I'm sure plenty of millenials got raised by parents like you said, they're the happy-go-lucky variety. To me they resemble YOU more than they resemble ME. Must be good having decent parents huh? Does it feel good judging the pitiful suckers from your lofty accomplished life? Sincerely go fuck yourself.
Reading through the comments. Must be a class thing. I worked in 2017 at a fish processing plant, the hours are long and the work is gruelling. There were 19-20 year olds working as hard and the same 12-14 hour days as the rest of us. Of course, these were working class people, used to working hard for very little. They never ever complained as far as I know, they're tough as nails. Try a fish plant if you think you know what hard work is.
JacAttack I didn't rack up any of that debt. As mentioned to another comment, maybe you should educate yourself and watch America: Freedom to Fascism. If I ran my financials the way the gov't does, I'd be in prison.
Young people, don't be fooled: we were coming up with pathetic excuses for not coming to work 30 years ago too. A fact conveniently forgotten, it seems.

This is only funny because it is completely true. I hired a millennial about 5 months ago. I had to work these flaws out of him. It took a lot of time and energy...I hope it pays off. The biggest challenge was instilling a sense of urgency....
My repair company hired a 21 year old a couple months ago. Kid didn't last a day. Said it was the first time he'd been up before noon in years and he'd rather go back to delivering pizza since the work was "too hard" and we didn't have set hours...this world is doomed!
Well now that depends. What were you paying? What were the benefits? If 40 hours at your place isn't much better financially than 20 driving for DoorDash during peak time then why would I do it? (I'm 41 by the way)
Oh my god, as someone born in 1999 (VERY in between), FINALLY everything is making sense. Now I know the things I find annoying about my peers is actually quite a common thing. I had someone break down because I don't "ever give praises or a nod that they did good work" and have always been told, "why are you always so *negative?*" Um, this is just work bud
Wow, I know this is supposed to be comedy, but they really missed the mark. I'm a Gen X myself. Having lead people from ages 20-60, I find that age or generation is little factor in determining whether or not someone is or will be a good employee. Yes, based off the environment and time they grew up in they may have different expectations and needs. But NO, I have not had any issues leading Millennials and actually find them quite refreshing. I will admit, they do often want to come in late or leave early and take off extra days, but when they are there, their output is often much higher and they are more efficient than their older counterparts. If someone can do the same job in less time....why not let them?

You can blame their parents for that.
They simply cannot stay off social media for longer than 5 minutes. Tossers.

Why did you hired him then? your ability in recruiting gave you that employee.
As he said, he didn't know about the disorder until later.

VIP Pools Then your son is NOT a millennial.
That's why millenials like me learn to be difficult and assertive when we need to be, cuz it's our fault somehow when we get taken advantage of
it's the opposite in my country...

I never did support Trump. But Clinton sure as hell was never going to fix this. Maybe Trump can.
Lol
It is motivation that is lacking among millennials.
N8 RAM Brother, you are my new best friend.

So did you. lol
*+katanakeith* _"[...] but nowadays he could say that he identified as a woman that day."_
The danger today, is that he could say he is a man, then you reach out to pat him on the head, and then because of "gender fluidity", he could change his gender to female during the time you reach out to touch his head, to the time you actually make contact.
Millennial here. This is accurate with at least half my generation.
Thank you for being honest. And I am willing to bet that you are not in that category

Guess who got hired.
farmerne Thank you.
and the old lady is probably the only one that knows bookkeeping.

farmerne Hmm, I'll guess the broad with the most tattoos?
Who got hired? the one with the biggest t#its of course.
I'm an old guy .....BUT....we created these little dweebs ! It's our fault. We told them they were special.
Well In what did you mean by "special"?
Adorablerubberducky as in you because with a TH-cam name like yours, I know you’re a millennial lol

Howie from WNIR, the Talk of Akron, always says "It's easy to stand out when other people are failures."
Edward Gaines Man i miss Howie Chizek.
Joel Nichols Whoa! I didn't think Howie's appeal was so far-reaching! Nice!!
If they lied and pass you over again then don't even bother giving them notice -- find that better job, gather your things, tell your boss you're leaving and why, and walk out the door.)
If you find that job tell them you're leaving and ask them, "How do you like where I am now?".

I agree just look at all the social courses. *mic drop*
i had an employee ask me when she was gonna get a raise... mind you she only works 2-3 days a week if we are lucky and and has the most basic results of everybody. I rolled my eyes.
Blame the parents, kids are born the exact same way they were 100 years ago. We are raising them this way.
Yea, but its not the parrents fault. Its the parrents inside theyre heads fault. I know they were just like us with someone dissapointed at them
In all honesty, it's not always the parents fault. it's not only the parents that raise kids it's society and media that raises us. Parents can do so hard and trying to do good ,but society and media really teach them other things.
Sincerely a millinial
You mean, the Boomers? Exactly.
Blame parents if they're young , but theese millennials are older and have made their own decisions for years .

So true, but it doesn't mean it isn't funny. ;)
It's absolutely insane how blind baby boomers are to what it's currently like.
2:00 imagine roasting a younger generation over their apparent "laziness" and then berating them because they did the job they were told
@@martinfiedler4317 At the peak of unionization, "only" about 30% of American workers were unionized. Therefore, your premise is totally wrong.
That's right mother fuckers it has gluten in that bitch too lol
This generation hates freedom of speech, truth, and lacks the ability to take a joke.
+Ian Smith I love that you had to say "Some, not all them though" so you didn't offend a Millennial.

As a millennial it wasn't me, I find it quite funny and very true LOL.
This is oppressing me. My Safe Place is under attack!
Ha!
+James Garcia Stop triggering me with your oppression, you patriarchal cisgendered facist
I hear this triggering thing. What does it mean?
Damn right. Feminists ruined almost everything they touched.
Yep, it is your fault. NOW FIX IT.
Billy Bob Thornton how about a 25 year late term abortion
"express themselves" so they're effectively being reinforced to be cunts of society.
I have this experience in churches. Priests are so terrified of losing members of the congregations that they won't instruct parents bringing small children to keep them quiet.
lol how come millennials are constantly confused with gen-z? I'm a "millennial" and I'm pushing 40 lmao hahahahahahaha people are so dense.
I know! The writing doesn't get any lazier than this. The only thing that I can think of is the terminology of the generations aren't as well known, so the "premise of the joke" doesn't land. You could easily do this skit without labels, and let your audience decide who needs to Prime some next day boot straps.
keep in mind this was from 2013, I get your point but at the time there were a lot of them in their early 20's
Exactly. I'm in HR and this isn't millennials this is gen z.

Thanks... Jr. Executive manager of data consulting!

Where did that old joke come from? Boomer gen?
I have a degree in women's studies and I've been here for ten minutes. Where is my corner office and how much vacation do I get, four weeks or six weeks?
i think people should get about 4 weeks vacation, so you can spend it with family, i work 40-60hrs a week, barely got to see my kid
Boo-Hoo. The rules are the same for everyone. And as you have noted, there are no shortage of hungry college grads. Measure up, or so flip burgers.
I shall, thanks.
19% of the work force? Put them in the fast food service industry and problem solved. There is a reason many companies won't hire millenials.
but that kind of work is beneath the Millennials....they want top tier "professions" and top wages right out of the hiring gates......why would stoop so low and work a slummy job like Mcdonalds etc?
BS field like Accounting or Clinical Psychology? Did you read his post?
Captain Calx lol a perfect example! Some people work two jobs to pay the bills.

@@VOGTLANDOUTDOORS oh so you're admitting to having no involvement in raising your kids even better you really thought that one through genius
Children are not tabula rasa if they are meant to be lazy and stupid you can't do anything about that.
So you believe if parents are not raising all new Messi or Elon Musk is their fault ? And I thought people had their own mindset.....
@@smithhoowe You are delusional with facts from You Tube. How many college 15 yr olds do you know in college? That's how old the oldest boomer would have been in 1960.
One of my all time favorite TH-cam videos.
Lefty inspired and enforced parenting.
ANYONE who gave this video a thumbs down... THEY ARE TALKING TO YOU!
We will have to pay for your social security some how.
JacAttack Don't forget Obozo's deathcare...

Oh, and the debt you racked up.
JacAttack I didn't rack up any of that debt. As mentioned to another comment, maybe you should educate yourself and watch America: Freedom to Fascism. If I ran my financials the way the gov't does, I'd be in prison.

If the Feds ran financials the way you do, we'd be speaking German or Russian right now.
I'm a millennial and I died. This was great.
Young people, don't be fooled: we were coming up with pathetic excuses for not coming to work 30 years ago too. A fact conveniently forgotten, it seems.
Maybe you were, but I wasn't. All it took was getting my ass FIRED once!
No I wasn't.. I'd have been fired for that. United Parcel Service has no sense of humor and no sympathy
@@ST-cy6we how do you get fired from a union job
@@jcerullo5015 At UPS? You misload too many packages in the wrong trailer or you don't unload fast enough to meet standards. That's how you get fired from a union job
@@jcerullo5015 Are you that simple? Being a fuckup is a fuckup. Union or no. And I have worked non union and union both. Get out of the basement and go find a job, it's the easiest it's been in over 50 years.
You forgot to mention that they might need extra time off to attend antifa protests.............Wesley J. Warnke
Diane Warnke lol
And pink pussy hat marches...
This is only funny because it is completely true. I hired a millennial about 5 months ago. I had to work these flaws out of him. It took a lot of time and energy...I hope it pays off.
The biggest challenge was instilling a sense of urgency....
Scallywag OMG it's exhausting training them!
Urgency,,aahhh what's that,... oh I know, I'll Google it later...
Whoa…lol. We’ll it didn’t work. He left after about 6 months. Now, I don’t manage anyone, thank God.
(I'm 41 by the way)
@jasonmack760 because something something hard work work is its own reward something dang cellphones something young people bad!
Oh my god, as someone born in 1999 (VERY in between), FINALLY everything is making sense. Now I know the things I find annoying about my peers is actually quite a common thing.
I had someone break down because I don't "ever give praises or a nod that they did good work" and have always been told, "why are you always so *negative?*"
Um, this is just work bud
