  • The newest generation 2017 LaCrosse adheres to Buick’s pampering ways. Next time you’re stuck in traffic and navigating potholes, ask yourself “Is that a bad thing?” Tom Voelk reviews the Premium model.

    LaCrosse has managed to lose some 300 pounds while increasing the structural rigidity of the chassis. Some of that freight is shed employing new lightweight acoustical materials that refract rather than absorb road noise. Combined with active noise cancellation, that Dodge Charger Hellcat stuck in traffic along side you may not be heard.

    I'm 35. 6'3" 224lbs and wear a size 15 👞. I own a 09 buick lucerne cxl with every option checked and more. I get compliments on it all the time. From young to old. I would love to have the new camaro. Just don't fit. Knocking on wood. Reliability has been great. A lot of people seem too forget buick is in the top 3 by JD Power. I'll be looking for a up upgrade in about a year or two. HOPEFULLY by then I'll get on a deal on a Lacrosse in the low 30k range by then.

    I purchased a fully loaded 2017 Lacrosse with the premium trim level and couldn't be happier. I absolutely love the way it rides and handles, especially with the sport setting on. It has so many options I'm having a blast learning them all. It is by far the quietest, best riding, and best driving car I have ever owned. It handles like a dream on any road I’ve throw at it, has plenty of power, gets excellent gas mileage and is super comfortable on long trips. And I think it is the most stylish car on the market, not gaudy but sophisticated in its looks and styling. I tested a number of competitive models from Lexus, Kia, Hyundai, Nissan, Acura, BMW and Lincoln and they just didn't compare to this car on features for the price and in many other ways. Anyone wanting a luxurious, quiet, great handling car, with plenty of power may want to take a look at the Lacrosse!

      Ford often doesn't bring cars to the Pacific Northwest in a timely manner so often I don't review them. That's why there's no MKZ review (though I have driven it briefly). If I can get a Conti quickly I'll do it, but if it takes 3-4 months there's no reason for me to do it.. Everyone else will have reviewed it and I'll have nothing more to offer.

    It's amazing how you can see the old Riviera lines in this car. I own a 2005 Lacrosse and you can see them as well, but not as much. I thought the 2005 was amazing looking, and it was at the time, but they have really come a long way. The interior is much bigger, especially in the back seat. And the materials used on the interior are far more upscale and the interior panels line up more precisely. And they have improved the motor and drivetrain. As much as the interior is quiet in the 2005, that's not the case when you're accelerating. It almost sounds like you're in the engine compartment.

    some constructive criticism: things I would also include in the review curb weight, 60-0 stopping time, top speed governed speed, how many standard air bags.
    they were probably in the video and I didn't notice. some things I can't remember right now

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks bigwillchill,
      Something to consider. These reviews are meant for the average consumer, not enthusiasts. They're kind of a starting point, the internet can take it from there.
      Generally if the car is extremely heavy or has brakes that are exceptionally good or bad I'll point that out. In a world where people think a 5 minute video is way too long, I like to keep it to the important things that the average guy or gal wants to know. Which is often how many cupholders does the thing have...
      Cheers! TV

    This is not to say that these cars don't move, but my nearest Buick dealer ordered a total of eleven of these cars and since taking possession of their last order they only sold one since the car went on sale last June(ish). The last car ordered was the cheapest FWD trim and they stickered it up as a service loaner.
    I say that to say this. I'm getting a Premium trim of the Lacrosse in the next four to six months with Navigation & Bose, and Confidence package 2. A dealer across Houston is selling a $47k model with these options for $39K. I'm hoping it stays there if not cheaper and I'll snap one up then.

      I believe 2017 LaCrosse runs on a different architecture, a revision to the Epsilon II that the Impala and Cadillac XTS currently ride on (I'd have to check to make sure though). 2018 Impalas should get the newer platform from what I hear.

      dude, I have seen multiple reviews of this car and OTHER cars. I have commented on several videos on this car and OTHER cars. Have you checked all the recent reviews from the same channels? You may or may not see comments from me. Your response to my comments has been very immature. You couldn't offer any response so you starting typing "troll" repeatedly. That is your response? I asked a simple question- explain why this car is for 75 years olds while other FWD sedans in this price and feature range are NOT. Simple question. If you call that trolling so be it. I like the Cadenza as well, but I think it's interior is too standard issue Kia. It does offer more lux features and lower price though...I'm not a trend follower so unlike you (and many others) I don't buy cars based on what others may think of me

    • @Chitwn81
      @Chitwn81 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Definitely nice but you're pushing it if you think this is better than the Continental? Have you sat or rode in one. The Continental is alot better than this one and even the midsize MKZ seems more premium than this car. The Continental and MKZ have a 3.0 turbo that puts you in the seats of your pants....doubt this one does so. This also have the stop assist which I don't like no matter how seamless it is. Lincoln sound system is second to none and the look of the MKZ is arguably better. Not even going to mention the Continental since that competes with Buicks cousin the CT6....in that case you could get the Chevy Impala for cheaper than the Buick if you're making that argument or even the Avalon.

  • @seankurth4371
    @seankurth4371 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes, yes Mercedes fans, we all know Buick doesn't carry much badge prestige, it's not exactly exclusively a grandmamobile anymore but it's still closer to Acura than Lexus. That's as intended, if Buick went all out on real wood and leather, screens everywhere, and length, it wouldn't slot below Cadillac. But really, in the low end of the premium full size segment, above economy cars but below the start of the non-M 5-series and Acura, you're looking at the Ford Taurus, Nissan Maxima, Toyota Avalon, Kia Cadenza, and VW CC. Buick sure as hell has more badge prestige than Kia, and if you're looking to put a premium badge and a quiet suspension on a fully loaded Maxima, $5k between fully loaded models is an unbeatable bargain. Regardless of GM long term reliability, which is still going to be about the same as or better than similarly priced entry level premium badged sedans (A4 and Q50), domestic parts costs will obviously be lower, and where else will you find a fully loaded full-size premium sedan with a premium badge for less than $50k? You can't. There are no rivals at this size, segment, and price point.

    • @shethjones4494
      @shethjones4494 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      People want better American cars, but they want them to be priced like older, inferior american cars. Can't have it both ways. Midsize German cars START over $50k and people are balking at $50k for a loaded AWD Buick withe more interior space for $50k. Keep in mind the Lacrosse has 60 more hp than a base E class which starts around $53k. The Lacrosse is larger than the E/5 inside but priced closer to the 3/C/A4. Not sure what people want exactly. Good luck getting German levels of refinement and performance, the spaciousness of a "traditional" American large sedan coupled with the price of a Mazda or Hyundai.

      "It's no secret that U.S. consumers prefer SUVs and trucks nowadays, and that means car sales are sliding. That's forcing automakers to offer big discounts to sell them. Car sales fell to just 36 percent of U.S. auto sales last month, a record low for a January. Generally, discounts are bigger on cars with the highest inventory. Here are the top 10 cars with the biggest stockpiles, measured by the number of days the inventory could meet demand at the current sales rate:

      Malibu is built on the E2 platform, LaCrosse is on the P2 (a modified version of E2). The current gen Impala is on a different structure. Nearly every auto manufacturer uses flexible architectures like this. It's only smart. Example? The new Camry will ride on the same platform as the Prius.

    • @joedidit3233
      @joedidit3233 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it's been said that in a year or two the Impala will switch to the new and lighter Lacrosse platform. Nearly 400 pounds less than the current Impala platform. If I remember right, the 3.6 V6 in the Lacrosse is new, and a completely different engine than the Impala's old 3.6 engine. Certainly not a re-badged Malibu. And not a re-badged Impala either. Completely different platform.
