Since August I have been lucky enough to be the owner of an RB powered vehicle. While it's an RB25DET & not a RB26DETT it's still very fun. I was able to pick up a 1996 Stagea RS-Four V. Was quite a bit but it's paperwork was already translated & it had a US title so it was definitely worth it. I've only had it out a few times because I currently have too many projects at home but it never fails to turn heads.
You're correct. RB25DET's are fun. My first Skyline was a 1996 R33 GTS-T. Over the years I did a few modifications, including a Race pace Motorsport built engine, upgraded Garrett turbo, Manifold, Wastegate (+screamer pipe), engine management system (Apexi Power FC), fuel system/injectors, coilpack, exhaust system, intercooler & piping, brakes, wheels/Tyres etc... I ended up with 310 rwkw and definitely was worth the money. I later bought a Midnight Purple 1997 Skyline R33 GTR V-Spec and also got it built/modified by RacePace Motorsport to suit the track and the road. This one had 400rwkw and was very responsive and fun to drive at the track as GTR's (RB26DETT) are AWD, not RWD like the RB25DET's.

One's a lower displacement inline 6 and the other's an inline 4. The RB20 was likely just made redundant with the SR20 and RB25 rather than some sense thing.

can we get a soundtrack list lol the background music is so nostalgic for me reminds me of old forza menu music or other documentary shows. peaceful! the video quality and information is outstanding. love the series!
Can't be understated that in the lead up to the return to the GTR name and introduction of the RB, that the investment into the FJ20ET in the DR30 Skyline trying to get Nissan back into racing was a good help moving things along after lack luster results from the mid 80's foray Nissan had back into racing (and the Skyline Super Silhouette that came during the era was a wild design for as meh as it performed). And for those wondering if there was an engine almost as rare as the Z2 engine, that would be the Fine-Spec engine (essentially combine all the best parts of the N1/Nur Spec engines with upgraded parts and only 50 were offered in 2003. Another "Final Edition" was put out in 2009 with R35 GTR injectors, dedicated ECM, and R35 Air Flow Meter and only 70 of those were offered).
Just an FYI we received the RB in more than just the VL in Australia. We had the VL, the R31 Skyline 4 door with the RB30E, we also had the RB30 in a bunch of Nissan patrols and Ford Mavericks... yes you heard right I said Ford.

R32 skyline gts/gtr is the dream car for sure. Love my truck but damn
Tight as hell. Top shelf man. Kudos.
Come for the engine talk, stay because the videos are fantastic.
The music is pretty cool too!
When he mentioned the Australian legend the VL Commodore he earned a sub for his shoutout and his home work, well done lad..
Why didn't they put them into Bathurst I wonder?
@@brantleyfoster021 Put what in to a Bathurst the RB30 or the VL ?
@@jingos1492
The VL Turbo, why didn't they put them into Bathurst instead of the V8's?
Correct, it had the RB30ET engine.
@@brantleyfoster021 Back then alot of people were against the 6 cyclinder turbo set ups, it was new and alot of motor heads didnt understand it or respect it... teams like HDT had such a backing from there v8s that no one wanted a japanese turbo until years later when the GTR hit bathurst and destroyed with Jim Richards and Skaifey and hahha they got banned from Mt Panorama.. thats when the cult following truly began, police highway patrol used them in the VL and another reason why crims and street hoons wanted them. Fast forward 10 years and every tok dick and harry wants the VL turbo over the 5.0
Very cool piece of Australian car history that still lives on
@@jingos1492
Yeah they are worth huge money now.
They used to be under 10k, now you need over 80k for one.
I think there is still some VL pursuit car's being used by law enforcement agencies.
The SL VL Turbo only weighed 1250kg while cranking out 150kw & 300nm despite no Intercooling.
They get over 1 million kilometers too, extremely reliable stock car's.
There's still so many Grandfather's & Grandma's appearing with extremely good condition examples they want to sell for a newer car.
I doubt it will ever be a dead market here.
Dude, the RB24 would have been a good addition, because of the mix of parts that engine is
Great content man
Tbh i learn so much about engines without even had the knowledge at one time. I thank you many much how easy and clear you make these videos about engines big up 337 speed❤💥
These videos make me feel like what the bonus videos in Grand Turismo/Forza for whoopin the game.
No gran turismo when u shop for the car
This was all pen and paper made. Barley if any computer assistance. Fecking insanity. Truly a work of art
You forgot to mention that the RB30 also came in the GQ Nissan Patrol in the Australian market. And there was a non-turbo version. Otherwise great video!
We scored the Turbo version because, you know, you have to do it if you're doing the non-turbo RB engines when there's a turbo variant available. Such cars are highly collectable in their turbo variant.
amazing editing, beautiful background music to complement the narration!
Im watching this so I can dream more precisely.
Oath, finishing up my rb26/30 build this year 💪💪💪💪
Man You got to love the Australian RB30ET
Love listening to your engine/ historical explanation videos man.
i love this channel. liked. subscribed. the style of presentation is cool.
Shout out 337 🚀
The sound of GTR..is fascinating and lift fighting spirit.
this is perfect timing as im just starting to learn more about 6 cylinder engines
been loving this series man keep the videos coming
I have learned more about my favorite car than I ever have before. Thank you, mate.
Man it sounds so beautiful
In South Africa, we got the RB20 and RB30 single jingles, love them to pieces.
Best video I've seen so far, everything very well explained, loves it. thanks for making it.
Another excellent video from this guy 🔥
Coming here after a Noriyaro video…life sure is good rn
I absolutely love your videos. Thank you so much
Yes you are right about the Bathurst cars, although the Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth can NOT be over looked, 2ltr 16V twin cam; 650++hp in 91/92 the power came on like a BOMB going off behind you, WHAM!!!! Dick Johnson in 92 going up Mountain Straight WHEEL SPIN in 4th gear at about 200kph!!!!!!!!!!!
🙌When we talk performance....other than the GTR.....Nissan really isn't mentioned with the Hellcats CTS-Vs or Mustangs
that calsonic R32 😍 brings back memories of my gran turismo on PS2 days
It was technically in GT1 as a race modification for the R32 GTR but in an non-licensed form so it didn't have the Calsonic decals but instead Skyline decals.
A legend of a car and engine! I would love a GTR!
what an absolute banger of a video
For a channel with under 200k sub the editing and design is crazy . Increasing the editor and designer pay
5:10 peep combinations for these jptcc (triple bean) 4banger combination before common mass produce 6inline
337...knew had to be close. Aloha from Lake Charles 🤙🏼
woooo Holden! it's not uncommon to see the dirty 30 being used drag strip down here in oz.... what a beast of an engine.
Very nice and informative videos , as much as I love rb26 , but it's not a reliable engine specially with oiling problems
Who the hell keeps a Rb26 stock now
@user-ht7ub4vd5x it's very expensive to modify and it costs slot to solve the oiling problems, the ultimate solution to solve the oiling problems will cost more than 10k usd
Leveling UP the production! LOVE this series!!!
can we get a soundtrack list lol the background music is so nostalgic for me reminds me of old forza menu music or other documentary shows. peaceful! the video quality and information is outstanding. love the series!
Now do a video on Nissan's big block inline 6cyl petrol engine the TB48DE/4.8L 24v dohc inline 6cyl
Flawless !!! Just like the RB engine . Your videos just keep getting better
"Long live the RB"🏆
The R31 is the best looking skyline and my mind cannot be changed.
Just an FYI we received the RB in more than just the VL in Australia. We had the VL, the R31 Skyline 4 door with the RB30E, we also had the RB30 in a bunch of Nissan patrols and Ford Mavericks... yes you heard right I said Ford.
Best sounding 6 cylinder. Period.
