Judging a game quality by how they sold IS what is actually crazy. It just mean the marketting team did a good job, not that the game is any good by any standard. On the other side, some indie games are discovered a long time after their release (hello Among Us), and same goes with artist in history (how many now well known artist lived in misery because they weren't recognized for their art while alive?) Not as much loving 76 but hating new vegas (and 3) to the point of wanting to prove that even 76 which is hated is better than that/those games. Those people usually think 4 is the best. We basically have 3 eras of fans now: - 1+2+tactics: can actually handle the isometric gameplay, usually heavily dislikes all modern games for all the lore inconsistencies bethesda created and for the stories overall seeming less Intresting, accepts new vegas to a degree, considers 2 the peak of the series - 3+new vegas: usually can't handle isometric gameplay of older games and finds the story of 4 and 76 quite disappointing, hates 76 with a passion, likes 3 and 4 (sometimes also 2, if they force themselves to learn how to play it) considers new vegas the be all end all - 4+76: can't stand the gunplay of the older titles *at all*, feels an incredible fury whenever someone says they prefer new vegas for not being able to get into it themselves, consider 4 the best game in the series, isn't even aware that the first games weren't FPS
i don’t hate any of them, i just think they all got strengths and flaws, but i still love the franchise. new vegas felt clunky and not super satisfying to play, but I think the story is rad and I love all of the different ways playthroughs can go depending on what decisions you make. 4 felt really satisfying and nice in actual gameplay, but the story didn’t really engage me and there weren’t as many ways I felt like I could influence it. no matter how much I modded it, it just got old after a while. this is why i am hyped for f4nv, it’s like the best parts of each in one game

And 76 had some REALLY COOL additions like the Excavator Armor, certain camp set up ideas like the turrets which were fun, new creatures like that angler fish looking thing, mothman… list goes on. A shame however, that their ambition led them to totally screw up with bugs and errors, little to no sense of direction, and- well, we have Internet Historians “Fall of 76” to talk about how that went. I like how the 76 fan tried to argue that a battle royale mode made it better than NV. But as of the Fallout Worlds update that mode has been removed entirely. Plus the end game for 76 is kinda dull. I played four characters to level 150+ and I still find NV, FO3 and FO4 to be better than 76 overall. Great video and song as well.
First playing fallout 76 3 years later because it's free for gamepass, the game is genuinely fun now. Lots of things to explore, tons of new enemies, and I kinda like you can ignore the story just to explore the wilderness. It's a beautiful looking game too, even though it runs off the fallout 4 engine. Still isn't as good as NV but im enjoying it so far.
To expand on this too, I also like that they brought back the settlememt building but it's not as annoying as FO4 where you have a ridiculous amount of settlements to build. My hope is the next fallout game brings it back, but not only make it a c.a.m.p system where you can build anyhwere but polish it up and bring in teraformimg options so you don't have so many floating object because the ground clipping is bad.
I played since the beta like a fool and out too much time into it. Haven't played in months and every update I hear about just makes an absolute mockery of the fallout franchise. Fallout became woke and it's cancerous.
76 Player: "I doubt that in New Vegas you can play with friends!" Mike and Zach: "Y'all hear something?" Edit: I like to think that the FNV Enjoyer was just vibing somewhere and the FN: 76 Fan took offense to that
I don't mind battle royale as a concept if it can be done correctly. Many games don't and the battle pass shit ruins any game it touches. Not for Fallout though, of course. A game I actually want a battle royale mode in is the upcoming Space Marine sequel, one where you can only play as traitor marines because that's actually canon to what happens in the warp with all the Chaos Marines fighting each other. Make it gory and gruesome, make melee viable, have Chaos "blessings" and abilities depending on what Traitor Legion you choose (Thousand Sons are psykers, World Eaters get a bonus to melee and CQC, Word Bearers can summon demons, Death Guard has offensive and defensive disease abilities, Iron Warriors probably get a resistance to warp effects and offensive maneuvers in general, I can make zero predictions for the Alpha Legion's shit, etc). I get that BR is a bit played out but I think it would be fun if implemented correctly.
I’ve just tried fallout 76 again after 4 years of shitting on it, and it’s pretty good. It was unacceptable at launch, but I think I enjoy it now even more than fallout 4. Think I chose the best side quest to do first, the one with Nukashine. Just stumbled onto it.
Honestly I enjoy both games for different reasons. They're fun games and have unique qualities. I almost fell out of my chair at the end of the brotherhood quest and they actually said “what do you think initiate?” That’s like a general asking a private for advice on the battlefield. I'm a FNV fan, but I will say that each fallout does have flaws with at least a good thing behind them. 1 & 2: Great games story wise, but not my thing and while others may jerk them off to the heavens, they didn't get massive acclaim that bethesda achieved. 3: The side quests and terrain are great aspects, with it also being able to catapult Fallout into the mainstream. Though it's problems are the DLC, the main story, what exists, and the karma system. DLC itself isn't the issue, but how it affects the base game where it adds tough enemies fairly early and gives overpowered things(like 10 million durability power armor and +20k hp non-human companions). Main Story just underwhelming, start is fine and isn't my gripe, but the factions being so black and white with some of the dialogue choices being so bland or not making sense, alongside that the ending is just shitty with how you can't send a mutant to save the wasteland without either dying or being called a coward. So how did Radscorpions reach washington? I can give a pass to deathclaws and super mutants. and the Karma system is honestly weird, as you'll either get attacked by Talon Company for giving water to a stranger, or Assassin for stealing a bent tin can? New Vegas: Mostly great story writing, improvements to gameplay over 3, and a nice variety of weapons and ammo to use. It's problems are rushed development, bugs, being a fairly empty map, making aspects of S.P.E.C.I.A.L. trivially pointless to take. This is New Vegas's greatest flaw and is Obsidians fault(yes its confirmed that they gave the time to make the game and not bethesda), its why Caesar's Legion isn't as gray as it could've been, and probably being why the third point exists. Damn the bugs(not just cazadors) they come from a rushed development time and not being able to fix all the game breaking bugs and pathfinding issues(could be the gamebryo engine and not just the devs fault). The map is honestly a bit barren with stretches of land taken by empty spots and/or some enemies. the last pont is honestly in that the S, E, I, and L of it are very important for what they offer at base, whereas the P, C, and A of it are underwhelming or pointless, I could be a Fat Ugly Bastard and still win any argument due to maxing out Charisma based skills like Speech and Barter. 4: Visually really nice and combat improvements are all I can say for it are good. Rehash of 3's plot and alot of lore breaking. I'm fine with 3's plot because its unique and gives insight to our protagionist, but 4 could've done something unique besides reversing the dad and son role from 3. This part is my biggest gripe due to what was established being retconned here, like the bots having a personality and Potatoes being extinct. 76: Enjoyable map all things considered with nice enemy and armor variety. But the botched launch, no single player without spending more money to play, and alot of microtransactions.

- 3+new vegas: usually can't handle isometric gameplay of older games and finds the story of 4 and 76 quite disappointing, hates 76 with a passion, likes 3 and 4 (sometimes also 2, if they force themselves to learn how to play it) considers new vegas the be all end all
- 4+76: can't stand the gunplay of the older titles *at all*, feels an incredible fury whenever someone says they prefer new vegas for not being able to get into it themselves, consider 4 the best game in the series, isn't even aware that the first games weren't FPS

Having an end to a story is what makes the journey worth it.

I've played Fo76 a few times, it's a fun game, my main complaints is that it relies very heavily on MMORPG style grinding for good loot, other than that, I think it's a fun concept, it seems a lot of the 76 community is actually rather nice, there are some assholes, sure, but overall I've found it's player base to be rather nice but truth be told, no game can beat how New Vegas is. I don't think any game will ever top New Vegas, ever. I mean, every DLC is top quality, it's fun just to explore the locations, plus the weaponry is just top notch and with all the choices and not one faction being the cartoonishly evil villain is a great touch and how all Fallouts really should be.

If it was launched as a classic fallout game with just Co op, I think it would've been my favorite by far, it's very unfortunate how everything turned out.
The retconning of a lot of story elements as well did kind of kill any interest I had in the game. I almost fell out of my chair at the end of the brotherhood quest and they actually said “what do you think initiate?” That’s like a general asking a private for advice on the battlefield. In my experience this is kiiinda bullshit. In reality it's more like, Bethesda Fallout players just enjoying their games and not giving a shit what anyone thinks, and NV fans being salty and throwing tantrums when someone enjoys any game except 1, 2, Tactics or NV.
Don't @ me I love every single Fallout.
Funny video tho.
