personally, i just couldnt get into 20th century boys as much as i wanted to. it was critically acclaimed and the art was amazing, but i kept pushing through the first 5 long chapters without understanding a single thing. mabye im just stupid, but that piled up confusion eventually led me to drop the show. on the other hand, nice essay review! really good points here and im glad i found this video and your channel, cant wait to see more from you. if i were to reccomend you anything, it would probably be love is war. its genuinely one of the best things ive ever read. aaand i would like it if you gave it a try! anyways, see you around.
I genuinely understand what you mean.Take it from me, after you get past those "boring" chapters and you find it somewhat interesting. You. Will. Not. Stop. To put it in perspective, it took me 1 month just to finish ten chapters and when I got hooked it took me ONE night to finish both 20th and 21st century boys Those piled up confusions make a lot of sense when they get payed off and this is from someone who's English is a third language. So it is most defintely not a you problem. Please give it another shot
@@seph_0056 hahaha ive always notice that the mangas and tv shows that are the hardest to start are always the ones that make me the saddest once its over. I know what you mean, and ill definitely take your word for it, but as a manga readers, i think you know the feeling of reading like 5 mangas at once. that's what was happening to me, i was reading blue box at the time, which i was really into, and then decided to take a break and 20cb. it didnt take long for me to drop the latter 😅 granted i will definitely give it another shot. i just wanted to add that your english as a third language speaker is great haha.
The exciting thing in the first part is where it keeps you guessing who "Friend" is. Did you get to that part? What did you find to be confusing about it anyway? I already finished reading it, and I still don't fully understand a particular event in the story. Honestly, I don't mind. It is amazing storytelling, as expected from the Monster author. I do have my criticisms but I would definitely recommend it.
@@eradict Yesss, I recommend you read it in the morning of a day you will not be busy or disturbed in cuz its really interesting, all characters are all likable, and you will def have a fun time and this is from someone who finds most romcoms annoying. Also, Merry Christmas🙏
I started getting into Kokou no hito, but I'm a bit taken aback by how superficial and shockingly bad the female characters were... just felt so unecessary and out of leftfield. In general, the depth of the characters didnt exactly match the depth of the artstyle. "I'm going home". It's jarring. However, I just made it to Vol. 4. I hope it gets better later on.
yeah i seem to remember it does, don't want to spoil anything but there are more female characters later on, i also think the female characters in the early parts really just highlight how buntaro really doesn't have any positive relationships aside from the instructor and everyone he meets in the early parts is predatory towards him or a rival. i would say the climber is sort of like berserk in that its quite flawed but its highs hit higher than most other manga despite also having a lot of lows, happy reading tho!
STEEL BALL RUN MENTIONED RAAAAAAAAAAH ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Interesting list. The only one I had read was GTO. It’s good to have new ideas of what to read.

I'll look up Love is War. Is it a romance?

Haven't read it yet, but from what I heard. The writer quits part way through and the artist starts writing the story and it becomes much better
yeah thats true although i actually find a lot of the early bits really poignant too@@Ash_Wen-li
Pretty sure it is a very anti character type of story. Characters only have character when it's necessary to the story.
