Nice video! I love finding manga channels that go into depth of the history. I love Tezuka's Dark period in the 70's, it was a rough time for him, and he had gekiga artists to compete, and he made a plethora of disturbing stories.

Ken ishikawa was mostly responsible for getter robo, not nagai. All the mangas' story and art was made by ken 😅

if Discotek could release all of his giant robot anime, that would be great. thank you. One of the best memories I had as a child was to have the Mazinger z shogun warrior. It was as tall as i was in 1980.

As a mecha otaku I definitely look up to Go Nagai.

I feel like Miura and my favorite Korean artist 🇰🇷 🎨 Kim Jung Gi lived their passion so much, that they drew and illustrated so much it effected their health and they both went out similarly. We just lost akira toriyama as well. I hope the holy grail of artists take better care of their health. The creator of vagabond had to walk away because of health issues as well. Glad he's still with us.

While I don't think Go Nagai is the greatest artist or storyteller, the man has always been overflowing with creativity, passion and fearlessness. He was never constrained by one genre or one target audience or held back by what people considered to be good taste. His works are so diverse, it is quite remarkable. Few mangaka can claim to have worked on giant robots, supernatural horror fantasy, magical girls, post-apocalyptic dystopia, comedy and have been hugely influential in all those genres. Truly a cornerstone of Japanese pop culture.

As always, I was able to learn a lot more about the artist. Samurai Champloo is my favorite work by Watanabe but I also like Bebop. Many of the other series look intriguing. As a Macross fan, I am especially interested in Macross Plus.
